The Final Push

From the Potter is a quiet and searching work, less a declaration than a kind of inward conversation, shaped by the awareness that we are not self formed but fashioned by Another whose purposes are not always easily understood. Moving with a slower, more intimate, largely acoustic voice, the album lingers in the spaces where loss, memory, and faith meet, especially in the wake of personal sorrow, and asks not only what God has done, but what it means to be known by Him. The songs turn often to the figures of Scripture, not as distant icons but as fellow participants in uncertainty, with Joseph standing as a man who must obey before he can fully comprehend, and Mary as one who consents to a mystery she cannot control. “Genesis” reflects on creation itself, not merely as an event but as an expression of divine intention, while “Psalm 8” becomes an act of wonder at the strange dignity given to humanity. “Good Man” presses the uncomfortable question of worthiness, exposing the gap between calling and conduct, and “True Freedom” suggests that freedom may be found not in escape but in honest surrender. Even Pilate appears, not as a villain safely removed from us, but as a mirror, reminding us how often we attempt to cleanse what cannot be cleansed by our own hands. The inclusion of both acoustic and electric versions of “Trinity” reflects the tension between simplicity and fullness, restraint and expression, as though the same truth is being approached from two sides. The closing piece, drawing from the Star Spangled Banner, does not discard patriotism but reorders it, placing identity and hope firmly under God rather than within the fragile constructs of men. In the end, the album feels less like a set of answers and more like a recognition that to be shaped by the Potter is to live within a process both humbling and strangely reassuring, where even our questions become part of the forming.
