Sunet Introspect (Side A)

Dark Entries returns to the New Jersey basement studio to unearth another compilation cassette recordings by Smersh titled “Super Heavy Solid Waste”. Smersh was the duo of Mike Mangino and Chris Shepard, who began making music together in the late 70s. They were uninterested in traditional notions of songwriting or live performance. Everything they needed was in Piscataway NJ: a basement full of analog gear, a Roland TR-606 (the same “Roland” who was listed as a member of Big Black), a SH-09 (Cabaret Voltaire’s favorite synth), and a TB-303  (the sound of acid house). Most Monday nights, they would write a new song from scratch. A couple hours later, the song was recorded, never to be performed again.

By 1981, this dedication to spontaneous creativity had already produced countless recordings, and the duo began releasing cassettes as Smersh via their own Atlas King label. A definitive Smersh discography may not even be possible, but one lists more than 30 Atlas King cassettes. As these tapes traded their way across continents, Smersh developed a devoted following in places far beyond Piscataway, leading to releases on dozens of other labels from around the globe. Smersh’s sound is a lush hybrid of techno, industrial, dance, and experimental. Sometimes easy, sometime not. Most songs revolve around driving EBM style beats, intricate industrial noise manipulation and synth melodies. The Smersh sound has so many faces it doesn’t fall into any one category. For “Super Heavy Solid Waste” we have selected 8 songs, focusing on the harder, harsher, rhythmic side of Smersh’s vast discography. Spanning a ten year period, 1983-1993, this the first time all but one of these songs are appearing on vinyl.

Each song has been carefully remastered from the cassette originals for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a sludge-infused jacket designed by Eloise Leigh, using art motifs and textures sourced from their original cassettes, as well an 11x11 offset printed insert.

Public Possession “Under The Influence” catalogue number 006 is another delivery from Down Under. Four customised Disco heaters roughly built around an Arabic theme – with Italian background. Courtesy of Tamas Jones & Paul Harmon (building the duo „Carpentaria“) and George Hysteric on the flipside. Tamas Jones, one half of “Hey Convict!” , was already introduced on PP UTI 05 and if you are into Italo Disco Hysteric might be no stranger to you. Having contributed various high class mixes to his own imprint “Mothball Record” as well as an edit to “Bordello A Parigi” we have been following his activities for quite a while now. For PP they joined forces and 4 hot tracks to watch out for are the outcome.

Groovy jazzy experimental classy music. This is wu004. The journey starts with "HAVE a” from well known Romanian artist Dragosh. Magical texture and powerfull baseline are the main characteristics inside this track. The hypnotic voice blends perfect with the sounds and makes you want to HAVE A! Rhadoo selected it also for his FABRIC Compilation among other monster artists.
Fabulous Fabrizio Siano shows us how it's done! Minimalistic mastermind with "Simultaneous thought” brings us on another level. Magnetic baseline combined with a sexy vocal is the perfect way to have a great trip!
First new entry is another romanian master mind: Plusculaar! Thinking at him as a guarantee delivers a fabulous mix between hypnotic sounds and groovy kicks. All blended in a minimalistic way that only Plusculaar can master. Indeed an outstanding romanian minimal!
Mr. Anton Pau is the second new entry on Weorus and enters with his perfect “Synergy “. Pay attention at the details, are always surprising during the track. Minimal background here with a perfect path and vocal touch excellent for the Sunwaves afters.
Weorus is bringing again a timeless release already supported by your favorite djs around the world!

Music is Art is a record label built on a long-standing appreciation for underground culture. 

Bound by a shared vision, we form a collective of electronic music aficionados with an extensive culture of such artistic commentary.  It is this sensibility that we want to cultivate further. The overarching concept stems not only from an deep-rooted appreciation of tonality, structure or atmosphere but also from its positive aftereffects - the overall vibe, a crowd’s variation of motion in immediate response to sound variation. 

The juxtaposition of music and art is somewhat clear and evident. We strongly believe that music is,in fact, an art form. One that has the ability, much like a work of art, to pause our existence and transcend our mood, grabbing control despite exterior factors. 

We are social creatures that thrive on emotion and for us an outing promises more than a classic itinerary - it follows experiences, uplifting social interactions and perspective-changing dialogue. The structural sonic theatre will built on carefully drawn line-ups and figuratively chosen visuals, as a continuous rendition of graphic moments extends the artistic performance. 

Music is Art is the brainchild of Little Hado, a name that’s been involved with the underground electronic music scene for the better part of a decade.

The aim of this project is to create a platform upon which DJs can freely experiment within unexplored areas of today’s effervescent techno scene. We place a lot of value in an artist’s ability to decipher and read the public, on one’s ability to grasp the public’s many different emotions, level them and then take them to different heights. That is what art does, on various levels, on various time-lengths and this is we want to achieve - a continuous spiritual link between the music and its listeners.

I am not a producer.
 I am not a musician. 
I am a just only listener.

The list is made for my own use.
Of course, it's good to get like and use it.
But my ideal is for you to make a list based on my list.
