London-based artist Jonny cade has already enjoyed solid recognition for his releases on the likes of 2020 Vision and Morris Audio. This time round, he raises his game once again for Music Is Love’s 10th release, dishing up a serious dose of house goodness aimed squarely at the dance floor.

Get On My kicks off proceedings with hurrying drums that shuffle over a rumbling bassline until 90s inflicted keys quicken and build the tempo over the course of the track. The ticking hi-hats, snares and hand claps are woven intricately over the shifting key stabs, while a faint female vocal teases and whirls throughout.

Confused Keys slows the tempo slightly, with a more defined bassline paving out against the groove laden percussion sequences and distorted vocal sample. Elasticated keys ricochet off each other until a melodic interchange of pads submerse at the break, slicing the elements of the beat and taking it closer to peak-time. 

Nottingham's Nail adds resounding deepness with his mix of Get On My. Shuddering key pads flourish to form the fore of the track, bouncing off the percussive loops that rhythmically swing out over faint synths to add a true deep breadth to his remix .

Give it All Up finishes off the 4 track EP the way it started: swift pace, swaggering 90’s inspired house. A flurry of claps and snares are matched by groove-heavy drums and a vocal sample that upends the overall hands-in-the-air mood of the EP. Fomenting his own melodic sound that is part house, part garage, Cades material is coherently woven together, without ever being cast free from an underlying rhythmic house groove throughout.

Mr Ks aka Jean-Pierre Baroni is one of the latest emerging talents from French electronic music, alongside a new generation of artists from France who are making a serious impact on the house and techno world. A student of classic Chicago and French house, Mr KS dishes up an exemplary 4-track EP on the ever-impressive Music Is Love label, complete with high-grade remixes from French compatriot Mr G and label boss Oli Furness.

The first of the originals on the EP is Take a trip,, a bumping bassline forms the fore of the track, flowing infectiously over siren sounds that grow in presence, cosmically off-set against the trippy male vocals. Built around an undulating bassline, Mr KS dishes up more head-nodding house goodness, carefully cultivating a strong sense of groove-heavy rhythm to his music.

Oli Furness brings  home a stomping house remix of Take a Trip. Prolonged synth sequences flail fluidly beneath the tampered vocal of the track, building before a flourish of heavy-hitting pads that pack with a powerful punch. The synth chords weave back in momentarily, while lo-fi hi-hats and sporadic keyboard flourishes flesh out the track, coalescing over the trippy vocals until the resounding keypad breaks and surging bassline carry the track on it’s course.
On the flip B1 see the 2nd of the original tracks on the ep. Groove on starts A heavy kick snare and intermittent wood block shots kick off proceedings, rattling against the moody and bumbling bassline, which simmers and carries the track organically through. Vocal hits play out, bouncing off shimmering keys pads, fluidly coalescing against the ticking percussion sequences. The end result is a stripped-back, hypnotic house opener that will go down well in any peak hours set. 

French don Point G  completes this strong 4 track ep, asserting his unique musicality on this record, reaffirming why he’s still one of the most revered and influential names on the underground circuit. Quickening the tempo with his remix of … meandering acid pads, ticking hi-hats and marching drums intersect the pace over sonic, oeuvre textures. Synths whirl in the background against the deeper, growing percussion rhythms, taking the atmospheric track to far out terrain; It’s the sort of raw, inventive house and techno that has made Point G into the household name he is.

Maintaining the focus firmly on the underground and keeping that no-frills party vibe running throughout their output, Music Is Love keep things flowing at a steady pace with their 12th release. Dedicated to continually curating original ideas, the premise behind MIL012 is all about the label paying homage to their most prominent musical influences. Leading the way behind the new concept entitled Tribute, head-honcho Oli Furness teams up with one of his favourite producers - Chicago house legend Paul Johnson - for a four track EP, with two tracks from either producer intended to highlight the impact of Johnson's impact and influence as an artist.

Paul Johnson has been a staple of house music over the past 20 years, and has long been a revered DJ and producer known for his distinctive rhythm and soulful sounds. Continuing with his penchant for up-front house music, Johnson kicks off the EP with Movin Baby. A stomping 4/4 beat marches over an intermittent vocal grab, while 90s afflicted key chords flourish steadily on top of trailing drum sequences to give a predatory rhythm with a solid dance-floor focus. 

I’m A Freak follows up, infused with the sort of unreserved energy that has characterised Johnson’s music over the years. A solid train-track house groove built from only the sparest of elements kicks things off, before a hypnotic vocal prevails over incessant percussive slices, a wubbing sub bass and thick melodic tones, racing alongside the flecked groove for five minutes of deliciously locked-in pleasure. 

Irresistible, stripped-back grooves are clearly a preoccupation for Furness, who delivers more heavy-hitting house in the form of Gurl and Nightclub Romance. Gurl is characterised by crisp, clean percussion sequences, snapping snares and an entrancing male vocal that coheres rhythmically over the cowbell and marching drum combo. 

Laying the focus on a classic house aesthetic with acid-fused textures, Nightclub Romance finishes off this well-crafted EP. Acidy stabs and shuffling drums coerce against a flurry of hi-hats and sporadic, dubbed vocal murmurs to give a stomping groove aimed squarely at the dance floor; its unadulterated, primitive authenticity make it the type of track that would have worked just as well in the 90s as it would have today, a testament to the thematic style of the whole EP

The thirteenth release maybe unlucky for some, but not here.  With label head Oli Furness delivering the Weather Underground EP featuring a shudderingly good Bodyjack remix. Music is Love Records make their own luck as always.
Comprising of the standard format from Music is Love with includes 3 tasty originals paired with a killer remix. The crew deliver just that.
Crash Gordon opens the vinyl with a BANG.  It’s off kilter groove is an instant head nodder and super infectious.  Oli always pushing the boundaries with his production and with this we get a nice display of his skills, bringing out the tone and life in the sounds.  Bodyjack has the task of remixing Crash Gordon and steers the off kilter track into much heavier territory.  Something Bodyjack does so well, heavy and rolling whilst keeping you firmly locked in. 
The B side opens with a big party track entitled Big booty girls, a track ready to make any party lose their Sh*t. Heavy machine drum grooves as are often found on the Music is love boss’s tracks and yet again they are central here, a heavily distorted  707 cowbell driving the frenzy is the most notable. Killer stuff. 
To round up the ep we find the track 64. This is a continuation of the party vibes of the B1 but done in a very different style. Here we find the vibes of late 80’s Miami, Booty shaking 808 drum patterns and funky ass loops. Staples of Mr. Furness’s Sound.

Returning to Music is Love after his 2 sell out records is the man Liam Geddes, and we think this time we’ve caught him at his purest. This EP is Absolute Fire!
His 3rd outing for the label is a deep and dubby affair but with a musicality and rhythm thats going to make this one popular with a wide range of djs.  Comprised of 4 originals  -  ‘Song for new’ opens the Right Path to Pray EP with  a heaven sent message setting the theme for things to come.
We are greeted with the  most angelic of vocal licks harmoniously placed alongside a devastatingly playful bass line and kick drum, the subtle twists and turns that roll effortlessly from this track are something people familiar of Liam’s work will already know he can execute with flair. 
Right path picks up with an infectious skip and a kick drum that will let any system know what’s up. Cleverly programmed and with an ear for details Right Path ebb's and weaves into a euphoric hazy dance floor bomb.
Pray to watch is trademark Liam, with his insatiable  mix of driving sonics pushing his perfectly swung house beats. It's not often you find such refinement in such a young producer. Which leads us to So many needs Liam’s return to his dusty house styling’s, and after his previous B2s this one lives up to expectation,  this is baby making music, warm luscious music, think hazy sunny days surrounded with your best people, you get the drift.

Music is Love Records has become somewhat of an institute since its conception nearly 5 years ago and one of the talking points on their release schedule is always the LOVEBOX VA, well we are in luck as they introduce the 3rd in the series. Lets dive into it.

Opening up on A1 is an artist of supreme integrity and killer beats, Wbezza. His track ‘Bodyman” is a lushious adventure through sonic soundscapes and jazzy beats, a perfect opener. A2 sees label regular Jamie Trench and his off kilter track ‘Oil Spill’, alittle different from his usual sound here he pieces together a quirky but dam funky track.

As we flip the record the quality doesn’t dip as the dutch brothers Samuel Deep & Julian Alexander under their “Ingi Visions” Moniker unleash “Nauyaca”. A deep and funky trip with heavy sub action made for the floor. B2 is Liam Geddes, fresh from dropping 4 bombs on MIL014 its no secret we rate him massively, well he’s back to his old tricks on ‘Reach Out’ and we love it.

Vinyl number 2 brings us yet more goodness and C1 bring back old favourites New Jack City. The brothers dropped Mil001 and nearly 5 years later are still bringing the heat with their track “Pick Me Up”. That NJC sound they do so so well. C2 welcomes new blood to the label in the shape of two incredible  artists we love Mak & Pasteman, their track “U Said” is a hazy deep house roller that oozes class. Expect to hear more from these guys in 2017 on MIL

As we flip the final record we see more new blood on D1 and the track “Bang Dat” from German duo “AM UNIT”. A dreamy hook combined in perfect harmony with a unrelenting drum track makes for some serious dance floor fodder. The final track is from label boss Oli Furness who ends this solid selection of tracks with his track “Broken Summers” a heavy dose of distorted euphoric breakbeat vital for those ‘taps aff’ moments.

As usual the Lovebox consists of 8 high grade tracks pressed over 2 vinyl, lovingly wrapped up in a gatefold sleeve covered in the familiar donut print and is out on the 11th November.

Music is Love boss returns to his home label after a few brief excursions last year and he returns in style. 3 summer time slammers and a stella remix from the Mak & Pasteman boys.

Middle Ground is a dusty filtered house track, aligned with a soaring string section, which narrate the warm uplifting journey this track lays down. Mandingo was made as a tool for Oli’s sets last summer and after some huge reactions and some serious demand, Mandingo was set for a vinyl release. Big stabs and plenty of funk this track is party ready.

On the flip we find Mak & Pasteman return to Music is Love after an appearance on the 3rd LOVEBOX VA in 2016. Piano4 is flipped into what these boys do best, Simple stripped back grooves delivered with stupendous power. On B2 is the original take on Piano4 which sees Oli flexing his power house muscles on this big piano track. Piano4 is an unrelenting beast that twists and turns its way through various passages of maximum intent

Music is love continue welcoming new friends to the label, on this occasion we find rising star Harrison BDP  with  firm favorite Liam Geddes providing a stella remix for the labels 17th vinyl release. 

Harrison albeit at the start of his career has already amassed some serious attention through his growing following,  choice releases , and his immersive production style and we are sure this EP will only strengthen his standing as a rock solid producer who can deliver stylistically time after time.

A1 opens with the impeccable  “I Still Meet You in my dreams from time to time“ a track where the listener can feel the emotional content Harrison is trying to convey and the reason you can hear this is down to the sheer quality of the production, huge swelling riffs balanced against the intricate minimal phrases will induce a huge wave of euphoria to any floor. A2. See’s MIL mainstay Liam Geddes back on remix duties taking “I Still Dream” where Liam loves to take it, deep and dubby. Liams take on groovy heavy sub bass interplay makes this a certified Liam Geddes banger .

B1. Washes away the dub of Liams remix with a delightfully energetic summer humdinger of a track. Showing the breadth of Harrison’s production prowess, this track is smothered in clever samples, funky bass lines and a perfect example of  what an original approach to production this boy has. B2. See’s Harrison close with his track “Time is of the essence” keeping things light and airy, this almost feels like the ying to Liams  A2 yang, instead of dark and brooding dub we have sunset music drifting away on its wings as it crescendos towards its end.
