Create a 1-3-minute audio composition that incorporates daily occurring sounds as a way to explore tempo and percussion using recorded media. Consider how your sound sources inform the overall concept and perception of your work. Is your composition a reflection of daily life on an individual or global scale? What does it mean to sample audio from daily life? Does your composition re-contextualize the mundane or comment on a specific emotion or perspective?

Samples, Sampling, Samples

Research and choose an audio composition that samples at least one preexisting recording/song. Find the original source. Create a new 2-3-minute audio track using samples from both sources. The piece you submit should be uniquely yours. I.e.: you must contribute to the previous works to create something new. How are you highlighting and/or subverting the original sources to create new meaning?

Reflect on the content of this course and create a 4-6-minute piece of your choice. For this project, you may collaborate with anyone you choose. Final projects can be fixed audio compositions or they can be something more elaborate, such as a performance (live/recorded), a short video that incorporates sound and image, physical objects akin to "sound art", a circuit bending demo/performance (live/recorded), or anything else related to the course are options for you to explore.
