Nach einer etwas längeren Pause in unserer Podcastreihe begrüßen wir heute Xia Ke aus Shanghai. Der sympathische Producer, DJ und Labelbetreiber mit dem Hang zu organischen Klängen im deepen Downtempogewand ist uns bereits vor einiger Zeit aufgefallen. Seine Mixe bestechen durch eine große Dichte an Atmosphäre, welche durch überwiegend cineastische Übergänge erzeugt wird. Quasi ein Sound der auch gut zu unserer Reihe passt. Ein wenig angepasst hat er diesen aber trotzdem. aber hört selber und findet den Unterschied. 

Tausend Dand Xia für diese feine Reise ins Dickicht der organischen Afterhour.

After a slightly longer break in our podcast series, we welcome Xia Ke from Shanghai today. We noticed this likeable producer, DJ, and label owner with a penchant for organic sounds in deep downtempo guise some time ago. His mixes captivate with their dense atmosphere, which is created predominantly by cinematic transitions. It's a sound that fits well with our series. He has adapted it a little, though. But listen for yourself and see if you can spot the difference.

✘ What makes good "afterhour"?
Chill, moody, slightly danceable and meditateable. 

✘ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?
It's a set prepared for our upcoming label tour. I want to illustrate a more moody downtempo soundscape to the Chinese local audiences. There are also some great productions from my label Autumn Equinox.

Hello und guten Tag die Daun*innen,

nachdem wir die vergangenen zwei Tage kauernd unter der Bettdecke verbracht haben (ein böser 1,40m Voldemord und sein Freund Joker haben uns zu gefährlich angekuckt- Hilfe!) hoffen wir natürlich von Herzen, ihr habt die gruseligste Zeit des Jahres unbeschadet überstanden. Doch so verschreckt wie wir waren, haben wir ganz vergessen euch die tollen News zu geben, dass wir vom liebsten Daune-Friend und Dauntempo-Connaisseur @cornicabra zu Halloween auch nen Treat bekommen haben. Bei dem Soundtrack wünscht man sich auf jeden fall 'n Neustart des langen Wochenendes (aber ohne kleine Bösewichte bitte!).
Naja, wie immer -heute vielleicht für die Mittagsschlafenden unter euch- Raus aus den Federn, Kaffee und Kuchen ran und Boxen aufdrehen!

Nach dem Aufstehen einkaufen gehen, dann 20 Minuten Yoga (wenns gut läuft) und lange frühstücken

Ttatsächlich nein, bei Musik bin ich sehr wählerisch 😅
Meine größte guilty pleasure ist wahrscheinlich Fußball schauen

Raus aus den Federn 015 - Cornicabra

Last month I had the privilege of attending a small gathering a couple hours north of Cape Town in one of the most serene areas of the country, Citrusdal. The event took place on the Waterfall Farm; a venue I've attended before, but was recently taken over by a group of truly magical humans with a vision very similar to mine - building a space that fosters human creativity and expression whilst deeply caring for this magnificent land that we are so fortunate to call our home. ⛰️

The focus of the weekend wasn't just to dance, but to come together and take full advantage of what the land has to offer - slow mornings with yoga and breath work, followed by an afternoon relaxing at the massive waterfalls; with music only starting in the evening. Before I played we had a couple hours of acoustic performances and living singing till I took over just after 8pm. So this set is meant to bridge the gap between a live artist and the night of electronic music, with the inimitable @natasamusic playing after me. 🔥

As my first set in SA (outside of AfrikaBurn) for the year I thoroughly enjoyed bringing a ton of fresh music and having a crowd in front of me filled with mates - ahhh - this was special! Really happy with how this set turned out - I've had it on repeat for the last couple weeks 😄 Thanks again to @gurt_music for the invite and having me a part of this special gathering. Cannot wait to see how this concept and this venue evolves! 💃

Heute haben wir den waschechten Hamburger niklasecco mit einem Podcast bei uns zu Gast. Seit 2021 paddelt unser heutiger Protagonist durch die Untiefen der elektronischen Musikwelt – zunächst hauptsächlich in Berlin, bis er schließlich wieder in seinen Heimathafen einlief. Capitano niklasecco ist stets mit einer passenden Kopfbedeckung sowie einer Flöte perlenden Schaumweins ausgestattet. Musikalisch treibt es ihn mit 106–116 BPM-Knoten durchs Gewässer, immer der Nase nach und den Kompass im Blick.

Finally the re-recording of my Mystic Creatures Festival set! :) it was a super nice experience to open the Spirit Space on thursday. Starting still in the warmth of the day, dancing into a beautiful sunset at the end of my set <3 soundwise something new for me - I didn't want to play "classic" downtempo and was thinking of something more trancy, dreamy, but with enough drive to make you dance and start smoothly into the festival :) enjoy listening to the recording and thanks to all the producers for your music!
