Al Son del Cocodrilo (English):
Our version of this song uses a slower tempo than the traditional version so that the youngest children can make the movements of each animal in rhythm and time with the music.
Suggested Movements:
“El Cocodrilo” (Crocodile): arms extended imitating the movements of the crocodile jaws, closing and opening in rhythm with the music. 
“El Orangután” (Orangutang): gently imitate the primate gesture of beating the chest rhythmically with 	alternating hands closed in a fist.
“La Serpiente” (Snake): with both hands together and pointing outward make an S from the chest 	forward.  
“El Águila” (Eagle): arms extended out to sides, flap your wings (arms) as if you were flying and in 	rhythm.
“El Conejo” (Rabbit): the hands flop atop the head as bunny ears. 
“El Topo” (Mole): squint eyes and place hands below chin moving fingers as ‘feelers’ 
“El Elefante Loco” (Crazy Elephant): with one arm imitate the elephant’s trunk raising and lowering.
The same series of song and movements cycle over and are repeated several times, slower or faster!

Se ha realizado y recopilado esta versión más lenta y pausada de esta canción popular, para que los niños más pequeños puedan realizar los movimientos de los animales con ritmo y tranquilidad. Movimientos sugeridos: El Cocodrilo: Brazos extendidos, aludiendo a la boca del cocodrilo, se aplaude rítmicamente. El Orangután: se golpea suave y rítmicamente el pecho con los puños cerrados. La Serpiente: con ambas manos juntas y extendidas se hace una S desde el pecho hacia afuera. El Águila: como si se volara con los brazos. El Conejo: las manos son orejas. El Topo: Las manos se mueven extendidas debajo de la boca. El Elefante: con un brazo se imita la trompa. Luego se canta y se realizan los mismos movimientos continuados.

El Auto de la Risa (English):
Upon saying the word “Auto” (Car), make the imaginary and moving gesture of driving, with arms outstretched in front and knuckles closed around the wheel.   Same with the “Moto” (Motorcycle), the right hand makes a gesture of acceleration, and “el Bote” (boat) rowing on each side of the imaginary boat. For the “Tren del Amor” (Love Train) reach into the air and toot your train whistle.  For the chorus, clench both hands into a fist, extending one arm fully in front of your chest while the other arm is retracted, alternating each arm in extension and retraction with the rhythmic singing of: “chiki chaka”. 

El Auto de la Risa (Español):
¡Vamos a jugar con el timbre de la música!
Cuando se nombra el Auto se hace el gesto de estar manejando con los brazos estirados hacia adelante y los puños cerrados realizando un semicírculo como si se tratara de un volante. Lo mismo con la Moto, la mano derecha acelera como se hace con las motos y con el Bote se rema a cada lado. En el Tren del amor, se coloca una mano recogida hacía la cintura y la otra estirada hacia adelante, ambas con el puño cerrado y en el momento del “chiqui chaca”, se van intercambiando rítmicamente estirando un brazo y recogiendo el otro.

Duerme el Oso

El Conejito (English)
At the beginning of this song the children can be asked to make a bunny with their hands (Pointer finger and middle finger extended), and in this way the song begins with the children sitting and moving their bunnies to the music as they sing.  As the song increases in intensity and volume, they are invited to jump and hop as they turn into bunnies themselves with both hands on head like bunny ears.  This song of active physical movement and outward expression tends to be followed by a slow tempo and more quiet song as part of recognizing and engaging in different volume levels and intensities. One such song is Duerme El Oso.

El Conejito (Español):
Al comienzo de esta canción se le puede pedir a los niños que hagan un conejito con sus manos, con el dedo índice y el dedo medio extendidos, de esta manera comienza la canción con los niños sentados realizando un conejito con sus manos, para que luego cuando la canción sube su intensidad puedan comenzar a saltar. Esta canción suele ir acompañada posteriormente por la canción: Duerme El Oso, de esta manera los niños reconocen dos distintas intensidades.

El Conejito

El León de la Selva (English)
In this song the children sing “El Rey!” (“The King!”) with the maximum amount of energy and volume possible, but without yelling or screaming.  Another possible dynamic indicating that the “León” is sleeping, inspires lowering vocal intensity and volume so that “El Rey” is sung in whispers.
Suggested movements:
“El León”: right hand in the form of a swiping paw or claw.
“El Rey”: hands with fingers extended on each side of head imitating a crown.
“Tan grande y tan valiente”: arms flexing muscles.
“Tan peludo”: hands over hair in circular motion as alluding to the lion’s mane fur around face.
“Barrigón”: hands making circular motions over stomach. 
“¡El Rey!”: movement starts with hands on shoulders and launches into outstretched arms reaching up in form of exclamation!

El León de la Selva (Español):
En esta canción los niños cantan: ¡El Rey! con la mayor intensidad posible, pero sin gritar. También se le puede agregar otra dinámica aludiendo a que el León está dormido, así los niños pueden cantar: ¡El Rey! con susurros y de esta manera aprenden a medir la intensidad de su voz. Movimientos sugeridos: El León: mano derecha en forma de Garra. El Rey: manos con los dedos extendidos al costado de la cabeza, aludiendo a una corona. Tan Grande y tan valiente: los brazos mostrando los músculos. Tan Peludo: manos arriba de la cabeza con movimiento circular. Barrigón: manos sobre el vientre realizando círculos. ¡El Rey!: movimiento de manos sobre los hombros y luego estirando los brazos hacia arriba con las manos estiradas, en forma de exclamación.

El León de la Selva

El  Indiecito (English)
This version contains loud and soft volume dynamics at the beginning of the song, allowing for changes in clapping intensity and volume as the song progresses.  Near the end, we speed up and finally end the song with a slow beat.  
This song can be interpreted with a percussive instrument. 
This song begins with hand clapping on the beat until the words “Llevo en mi cabeza 4 plumas de color” (I wear on my head 4 colored feathers), at which point you raise your hand behind your head with four fingers imitating feathers.  Next, grab ahold of imaginary reigns as if galloping on horse in synch with the beat. Finally, with hands in a fist imitate the movements of shaking maracas. In the final volume dynamic, you may rhythmically clap on your thighs to make the quick and slow tempos.

Soy un Indiecito (Español):
Esta versión contiene las dinámicas fuerte y despacio al comienzo de la canción y hay que aplaudirla según la intensidad que la canción nombra. Al final hay que aumentar el pulso (rápido) y luego disminuirlo (lento). También puede ser interpretada con un instrumento de percusión. En la grabación la canción está en la tonalidad de Mi mayor. La canción es aplaudida con las manos hasta que dice: “Llevo en mi cabeza 4 plumas de color”, entonces colocar una mano con 4 dedos en la cabeza imitando las plumas del Indiecito; luego realizar el movimiento de andar a caballo con las manos como si se sujetaran unas riendas imaginarias; luego imitar el movimientos de las maracas con las manos empuñadas. Las últimas dinámicas de velocidad se pueden percutir con las manos sobre los muslos para hacer los tiempos rápido y lento.

El Pájaro Carpintero

El Avión (English)
With this song we can also play with pitch.  When the Avión (Airplane) goes up, we make a continuous sound that progressively increases until we reach a high pitch, and when the Avión flies low, we make a progressively low pitch sound.  The sounds are accompanied by the hand extended, imitating a plane that flies high and low.

El Avión (Español):
Con esta canción podemos jugar con la altura. Cuando el Avión sube podemos realizar un sonido que se va volviendo más agudo y cuando el avión baja se hace un sonido grave. Los sonidos van acompañados por la mano extendida que imita a un avión que sube y que baja.

El Avión

El Oso y el Osito (English):
This song is very beneficial for recognition of pitch since the Osito (“Little Bear”) sings in a high pitch and the Oso (“Big Bear”) sings in a low pitch.  This musical function can be further engaged with one hand gesture reaching high in the air and the other gesture reaching down low, indicating the pitch and vantage point of each bear. For example, the Osito looks up at the Oso (hand high and singing the high part of the Osito), and the Oso looks down at the Osito (hand low and singing the low part of the Oso).  

El Oso y el Osito (Español):
Esta canción es muy práctica para reconocer la altura, ya que el Osito canta alto y el Oso canta bajo o grave. Se puede reforzar esta función con una mano arriba y una mano abajo que señale la altura según hacia donde mira cada Oso. Por ejemplo el Osito mira al Oso hacia arriba y el Oso mira al Osito hacia abajo.

El Oso y el Osito

This is the first songbook of children’s music by Musical Conexion. The songs were carefully selected from a wide repertoire of traditional Southamerican and Chilean children’s music to teach the functions of music in harmony with movement for early childhood development. Each song is presented with the respective chords as well as movement indications. This allows mothers, fathers and teachers to interpret the songs, creating a personal musical connection with the young children in their care.
