Many people who grow up in small towns, or have the misfortune to be stuck in a particularly parochial one on their travels, experience a strong desire to escape. The lyrics here are not necessarily a literal in a self-referential fashion, but an elaboration of the feeling that ensues when being confronted by small mindedness and the oppression of individuality. Recorded in a box room on a Tascam 4-track, bought off gumtree for 40 quid, with the guitar being amplified through a home made 5 watt valve amp fashioned out of an old radio and an ex-girlfriends jumper (see uploaded photo), this recording is raw yet subtly visceral.
