This episode we explore the Latin American roots of Reggaeton, starting with reggae from Mexico and Venezuela in the 1970s, and then turning the page into the Panamanian dancehall scene from the mid 80s to late 90s, a pivotal moment from which Reggaeton, Dembow and much of todays Latinx pop music derived from.

Joshua Lane Yana is an Artist & Writer based in London. Working for tea importers, collecting records and self taught on the piano and flute, Joshua’s inventiveness and inspirations are drawn from nature, love of music, literature and his travels, particularly his time in Japan. Japan has been and continues to be a great cultural significance and influence on him.

“This mix is a juxtaposition of tunes, of different moods, mostly listened to alone, in the heat and in the cold, when things have been euphoric, and looking up at the blue sky – imagining scenes of grandeur - dreaming, and in praise and awe of how these pieces of music came to me. I swear when I saw the photos from the morning of Chance The Snapper's capture, I thought someone had photoshopped me into the press conference. Simpler times. 😂
