Earl Jeffers returns to his own Mélange imprint with a massive splash. Two soulful house heaters and an alternative mix. But the first of these dancefloor destroyers features the ever-prolific Kaidi Tatham on flute and guitar. 

If you’re not familiar with Cariff’s Earl Jeffers, there’s an ocean of brilliant music to catch up on. Stacks of releases under his own name, and aliases Chesus and Metabeats, on labels like MCDE, Fat City, and Local Talk. Not forgetting his own label, Mélange Records.

Earl has jumped confidently from house to hip hop, jungle, jazz. library music and more, collaborating on the way with artists such as Byron The Aquarius, Action Bronson, Kamaal Williams and K15. Moreover, as one half of Darkhouse Family with Don Leisure, Earl fuses hip hop production sensibilities with live soul & jazz and yet more notable collaborators. 

Better-known for his keyboard wizardry and highest quality broken jazz productions, don’t sleep on Kaidi Tatham on the flute OR guitar. On both he lays it down with the same finesse and feel for what the song needs. As Earl adds, “pleasure to once again work with one of the best to do it! Mr Kaidi Tatham”. 

Artwork is provided by frequent collaborator and good friend of Earl’s, Ral Duke. Ral has been behind artwork for the likes of Griselda Records (Westside Gunn, Conway, Benny the Butcher), Alchemist, and Ghostface Killah, among many others.

On the flip we find title track “Higher”, featuring vocals from Lloyd Everitt, alongside an alternative mix of the same. ‘Higher’ is released on June 12.

Dan Shake, Kaidi Tatham, Jamie 3:26 on Toy Tonics! Yes. Toy Tonics lead artist Cody Currie released his debut album on the Berlin label last year and now here come the remixes! Pure dancefloor joy is guaranteed with this release. The names speak for themselves. And they really made effective DJ weapons out of Cody's very organic sounding, warm, soul-driven jazzy house songs. 

Cody by now doesn't need a big introduction anymore. He is one of the „hot“ names from London’s new house scene (even if he lives in Berlin) and being the only one who has made a collabo with Eliza Rose created a certain buzz not just in UK. (they recorded the tracks Danger, Moves, Night Sky released on Cody's debut album Lucas).

Since the album release Cody is playing worldwide solo shows but also along with DJs such as Honey Dijon, Parcels or Myd from Ed Banger.

Legendary jazz and broken beat artist Kaidi Tatham - called ‘the UK’s Herbie Hancock’ by BBC Radio 1’s Benji B - kicks off this tasty package of remixes of Cody Currie’s latest album ‘Lucas’. 
With Dan Shake, Jamie 3:26, Sam Ruffillo and Kapote, some of the hottest names of the scene join Kaidi to rework Cody’s organic, warm sound into dance floor weapons! 
Since the album release Cody is playing worldwide solo shows but also along with DJs such as Honey Dijon, Parcels or Myd from Ed Banger.

A timeless deep house track with a powerful message, Manchild (In The Promise Land) is a brand new creation from two of Chicago House music’s true architects, Ron Trent & Lono Brazil.

Getting his start as a DJ in the mid 80s while still a teenager, Ron Trent quickly turned his hand to production, studying percussion and keyboards; skills which define his distinctive, melodic compositions to this day. Founding Prescription Records with Chez Damier in ’93 and sister label Balance soon after, he helped introduce talents such as Moodymann, Pevan Everett and Luke Solomon to a global audience. Ron Trent’s career has gone from strength to strength over the last three decades, DJing all over the globe while continuing to push boundaries with his productions and remixes.

Mentored by none other than Frankie Knuckles and a close associate of the great Ron Hardy, Lono Brazil’s musical roots touch the very foundations of House Music. A true cultural ambassador, over the years Lono has produced shows with legendary artist Keith Haring, worked as an executive for Capitol/EMI and helped kick-start the recent disco revival from a small dive bar in Chicago’s North side, not to mention walking the runways of New York, Milan, London and Tokyo as a high fashion model.

Afro-centric house in its purest form, Manchild (In The Promised Land) is characterised by Lono Brazil’s golden voice and original spoken word poetry which paints a moving picture of urban deprivation and stolen childhood. Subtle synth chords shimmer behind the jazz influenced bass-line and warm percussion that seems to play ‘call and response’ with the vocal.

Fresh from appearing on Boiler Room Tokyo back in April, talented and in-demand Japanese husband and wife duo ‘Dazzle Drums’ provide a deep and tribal dub version of ‘Manchild’, steadily building up a compelling drum groove before taking flight into synth-heaven.

I have many stories to tell. I express most of my sentiment through rhythm and sound. To me there is a refined way to do all things. Though many may not take the route of refinement my connection to Oshun will not allow anything else. For me music is the purest and highest form of communicating love, pain,and progress. I recently went through a painful experience that brought about a new level of power and reason that I put to verse and rhythm. This lamentation will be the first single from my new Album "Romantic Flight". For some reason I just could not finish it before, now I know why.
