Hey all, my name is Gep Henneberke from the Netherlands and I’ve created a remake/remix of the famous song “The Moon” from Hiroshige Tonomura
which was one of my favourite games on the Nintendo 8bit. 

I’ve done this because I owe a lot to the Nintendo Entertainment System and the awesome games it brought me (us). I just fell in love with game music and the enhancement it brought to the experience. This was one of the main triggers that motivated me to become a musician. 

I play guitars and write music for my/our band Chiraw and I own my own music-production-company called “MusicboxProductions” which is actually my platform to express all the things I’ve learned from game music. MusicboxProductions is a small (one man) company which provides me with the awesome experience to write/produce/compose music for companies that are looking for music that is just made to express what a company/movie/app is all about. 

About the Ducktales-Moon remix I did
I just felt that it was right to bring some kind of tribute to this song, since this one (along with a lot of others) has always been a huge inspiration. Therefor I’ve dropped the bpm and started to recreate it in my own way. If you haven’t heard the original 8bit version, please do so before you listen to this one, it is pure gold. The intro is not 1 on 1 like the original, since the arp isn’t the same if you consider its timing. I’ve adjusted it because I prefer a more structured setup in this production. 

The beginning of this track is more an orchestrated feel. Followed up with a more hybrid approach between band and orchestra. Then it follows up with a combination between orchestra, band and 8 bit. 

The bridge is more or less a statement….or at least that’s what I had hope to bring to the table. 

It starts out as a tribute to the 8bit, based on another favourite game of mine. Then it heads over to an over-dramatic part to actually overproduce it. 
The original is quite perfect so adding stuff…is just based on ones preferences and should never be about beating the original…..it’s unbeatable. This is something just outside of the box and based on my likings. 

GEWTARZ!!!!
Yep! I’m a guitarist and I’ll be damned to not add guitar to this thing. So I did!!! I’ve actually played the bassline in powerchords, added the arp in panned context and played the lead over it all. 

Well that’s it!
Again if you’re not familiar with the original, please listen to it before you listen to this track. It’s really impressive, especially if you think of the “limitations” that came with the 8bit if you compare it to the stuff I’ve got to use.
