2014 saw Steyoyoke Recordings put the finishing touches to their artist roster and the label is now experiencing an ongoing creative continuum, bringing Steyoyoke to its current state of musical solidarity. ‘Family Affair Vol.04’ is a testament to this, as it provokes new inspiring ways for the artists to inspire and influence each other. Split across two separate releases, Part 1 and Part 2, “Family Affair Vol.04’ comprises of 9 remixes, which sees all the Steyoyoke artists adding their own personal flavours to some of 2014’s biggest tracks.

Part 1.
Soul Button’s remix of ‘First Glimpse’ by Aki Bergen is the curtain raiser. Possessing a little more energy than the original, this remix boasts an alluring new intensity and vibe. It is captivating and uplifting.
Next up, is Aaryon’s remix of Soul Button & Talul’s ‘Chasing Thoughts’. Building upon the intricate layers already existing within the original, Aaryon intertwines edgier synth flurries and a more sinister bass line.
‘Hydra’ by Animal Picnic is remixed by Nick Devon, who chooses to focus on the originals unyielding drive. Nick really draws out the true ruthlessness of this track, with techno influences infiltrating this remix from start to finish.
Dahu takes on the remix of Aki Bergen’s ‘Helix’ and he customises it with some menacing elements. He does however maintain the originals “raw minimal techno groove” and garnishes this with industrial style accents.
The final track on Part 1 is Ran Salman’s version of ‘7th Heaven’ by Soul Button. Opting for a slightly punchier sound, Ran enlivens his remix by incorporating a few extra synth riffs and a bouncer bass line.

This one is about much more than the dancefloor: "Ruler On The Throne" by Budakid is full of ear openers with it's painted synth sounds and the metallic bleeps combined with the warm voice of Siogue. Such an intense statement of deep and electronic music to end and summarize the season. "The Question Is Why" comes much more poppy and combines different musical cultures. It's trippy and melodic and turns into a funk-tinged anthem while the piano is taken you back to the beach. The remix by Kris Davis speaks the language of the club. Leipzig's Marc Werner returns to Kittball to release two luscious house cuts entitled 'Blue Jeans' EP including collaborations with Shuja and Music P and a remix from Get Physical's Martin Waslewski.

Since 2007 Marc Werner has been finding his way within his musical sphere. Along his journey he's had outings on Bunny Tiger, Kontor Records, Audio Safari and Kittball which act as an accurate reflection for his meticulous productions and emotive stylings. His honest approach and hard graft has earnt him sets at some of Germany's biggest festivals like Sonne Mond Sterne, Airbeat One, World Club Dome and Sputnik Spring Break. Joining him for his 'Blue Jeans' EP is Shuja who has previous releases on Nouveau Niveau Records, Rodark and Kontor, as well as Germany's Music P on vocal duties.

'Blue Jeans' kicks off with infectious grooves balanced with shaky percussion and a pulsating bass line. Martin Waslewski - who has outings on Get Physical, Stil Vor Talent and Exploited Ghetto - then delivers a tasteful remix of 'Blue Jeans' with rolling drums, shimmering basslines and smooth vocals before 'Circle' finishes things off with atmospherics pads, euphoric melodies and delightfully compelling sound design fused harmoniously with Music P's soothing voice.
