Shir Khan marks the 37th release on his infamous Black Jukebox imprint with an all-killer balearic house record courtesy of mysterious Cécille-affiliated Cabin Luv Affair hot on the heels of his debut album which has seen support from Fouk, Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Mr. V and Archie Hamilton. 

Here, the masked master lays out 5 convivial cuts that sit in a particular pocket between House and Disco; one that has historically been occupied by the likes of Pepe Bradock, Damiano Von Eckert and Andrés. A spot classically characterised by beautifully imperfect, sample-heavy productions that are shot through with palpable depth and soul.

The record sets sail with ’Te Siento’. Polyrhythmic percussion bubbles across the surface of a deep sonic pool that forms a bed for vivacious drums, romantic vocals and a spine-tingling strings riff. A hazy opening clears out before the backbone of recording shines through; an uplifting 90s piano motif that's later picked up by Xylophone tones while a tight, truncated bass line punches away at the track's core.

'Dance With Us' then rolls out a beautifully seductive mood. Softly shifting synth chords, a loose-limbed drum break and hedonic vocals whip up a hot and heavy vibe that shines with a distinctly Chicago-tinged elegance.

'Time Is Killing Us' follows up with an immaculately executed, 'last tune' House groove. A gentle but powerful euphoria is generated with swooning strings, more giddy piano riffs and another robust drum track that all gather momentum as progress rolls on. An ecstasy-crescendo forms before it crashes and fizzles before the lights go on.

'My Head Like Shibuya Crossing' then follows up with a tightly-knitted Deep House cut. Buttery melodies adorn an effortlessly kinetic bass groove before a delicate Japanese vocal bleeds into focus. As is the case with much of the record, the track graciously segues through its chapters with melody at the fore-front before 'Stuck On You' brings the record to a conclusion.
 
The quality runs right through to the close as the track bumps and hustles in a collection of snipped samples and totally irresistible percussion. A luscious vocal line carries the flame forwards, maintaining that sweet spot between playful and sophisticated making the tune a no-brainer for DJs looking to send a subtle spark out onto the floor.

In our hedonic pocket of Dance Music, Ali X is an artist that needs no introduction. But for those not in the know, he is part of the vital and vivacious Azari & III; the inimitable group that smacked the scene round its face with tunes like 'Hungry For The Power', 'Manic' and 'Reckless (With Your Love)' in the 2010s.

Having moved from Toronto where the group were based, 
Ali X is now embedded in the hot and heavy milieu of Mexican club culture where he has found the perfect home for his particular strain of brazen, sauce-laden House and Techno.

With 'Mi Dios Mi Amor' he lays out some pacy heat, deliciously adorned with the salacious lyrics of Mexican artist MAFARA. Together, the duo braid flawlessly and the result is a sweat-dripping slice of Techmex.

The tracks bursts out the blocks with a Dance Mania intensity as a stocky 909 beat slaps under truncated vocal cuts and sharp, stabbing bass line. A stage is set for MAFARA who struts in with infectious aplomb. The vibe is electric – an immaculately produced workout that oozes Ghetto flair, perfectly capturing the heat and intensity of Modern Mexican parties.

Hailing from Sydney, Jerk Boy has amassed a credible catalogue of modern Disco music, the contents of which can be huddled together under the umbrella of 'music for good times'. He knows exactly how to move floors and his next single featuring Irfane is case on point.

PREMIERE : Jerk Boy - Something Isn't Right Feat. Irfane

Mexican electronic music artist Pinto, a rapidly rising force and founding member of Vatos Locos, is set to release his "Talismán" EP on Duro Label on May 30, 2025. Known for his impeccable mixing technique, underground groove, and timeless style, Pinto delivers a four-track exploration of house that showcases his versatility and innovative sound.

The EP opens with the title track, "Talismán," a refreshing house cut designed for the dancefloor. It features vibrant keyboards, a playful bassline, and a stong rhythmic section. "Plastic City" follows, injecting a dose of energy with its tight bass, hypnotic and frenetic atmosphere, cowbells, alarms, and resonant leads.

The journey continues with Theus Mago's edit of "Ghost in a Box." The acclaimed Mexican producer infuses the track with his signature sound, characterized by a booming, dynamic bass, rolling rhythms, a slightly schizophrenic atmosphere, and ghostly keyboards. Rounding out the EP is Pinto's original mix of "Ghost in a Box," a powerful dancefloor weapon. Its fair to say that in the hotly contested field of country tinged, equine themed underground club music this year has been all about Kate Stein & Lord Fascinators Horse House. With its galloping hypnotic house beat, pulsating synths and lonesome guitar twangs, it was always a clear favourite but even as clubs around the world are still echoing to frenzied chants of theres a horse in this house, Eskimo Recordings have introduced some competition with 3 new remixes courtesy of Fabrizio Mammarella, Hammer and Captain E. Leading the chasing pack is Italian DJ, producer and label boss Fabrizio Mammarella. With over two decades of releases under his belt on labels such as DFA, Permanent Vacation and his own Slow Motion Records, Fabrizio has solid form and saddles up to take us on the last horse to Trancentral, delivering a stunning remix that sees the tracks vocal refrain canter over killer club beats and a mesmerising synth riff. This is certainly no one horse rave though and coming up close on the inside is Belfast producer Hammer whose sabre sharp remix thunders along with a looping acid bass line and echoing percussion before it all dissolves into a blissful wash of warm pads evoking the wide open starry skies of Texas (or perhaps County Down) before the beat comes crashing back in to carry us over the line. Finally bringing up the rear but with the bit between his teeth is Eskimo Recordings own Captain E whose remix cracks the whip, upping the tempo and pairing its warehouse ready beats with rave stabs, a frisky bass line and just the occasional horse snort for good measure.
