RESISTANCE SESSIONS GUEST MIX #37 - by Yoku Vanda

Born in October 1960, Yoku Vanda first encountered psychedelic music at 15—and from that moment, it never let him go. In the mid-90s, Yoku attended his first rave and house party, and by 1997, he was fully immersed in the world of psy-trance. For over a decade, he was an active part of the North German psy-trance scene, until he took a long creative break in 2010.
In 2021, Yoku made his return—this time as a DJ. The modern psy-trance sound didn’t resonate with him, so Yoku took a different path. He began blending various genres while reviving the signature rhythm of 2000s psy-trance. Long, beatless breakdowns? Not his thing. Instead, The DJ either shorten them or keep the energy flowing with a subtle beat—because nothing disrupts the dancefloor vibe more than unnecessary pauses.
Yoku Vanda's sets focus on progressive tracks and genre-crossing mixes, all designed with one goal: to guide dancers on a journey, gradually building towards an electrifying peak. Every track is carefully placed, creating a seamless story that energizes the dance floor and sparks the imagination.

Bio:
VLKN  is a dj based in Istanbul. His real name is Volkan.
As he averages adolescence, he fanatically discovers electronic sounds. After listening, dancing and vibrating with the beats of electronic music, he decided to insert himself fully into the universe of the trays back in 2003. For some years now VLKN has used vinyl as the preferred format for his presentations. He believes that it is the most noble and beautiful format to be able to transmit what flows from within when making a set. His passion for music has lead him to start creating his own productions, where he is looking to continue to develop his unique sound. You can listen his first EP ''Senses'' on his Soundcloud page or on Beatport. His sound incorporates warm, beautiful melodies, groovy basslines, and more than a touch of class. He seeks to touch the hearts and minds of dancers with improvisations based on their set, setting and atmosphere. Be on the look out for his future releases as they are packed with grooves and uplifting sounds, designed for the dancefloor and more.

His new album, The Gambler, is more than eight tracks in the dub techno genre—it is a musical reinterpretation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel The Gambler. Every sound, every vibration feels like a roll of the dice, leading the listener into deep, almost mystical labyrinths of the human psyche.

It begins with “Alexei Ivanovich”—an introspection of a hero teetering between passion and madness. “Polina Alexandrovna” shrouds you in melancholy and mystery, as if the music tells its own secret intrigues. “General” resonates with authority and order, while “Madame de Cominges” gently draws you into an elegant game of seduction and manipulation. “Marquis de Grieux” is a rhythmic elegy of desire, “Mr Astley” hints at hidden motives and perilous games, “Mlle Blanche” transports you into a light, almost ethereal illusion, and “Potapych” concludes the album, leaving a lingering sense of contemplative longing and the inevitability of fate.

Each composition by Francesco Tamburrano is crafted with the precision of an alchemist: deep motifs intertwine with spatial effects, creating the sensation that the sound breathes alongside you. This album is an experiment at the boundaries of time, space, and emotion.
