The story on which the composer has been based begins at dawn in a Phoenician port, where a lone merchant ship is preparing to set sail for Assyria, Mesopotamia.
The first bars reflect the melancholy of its crew as they leave their family environment and their land, always with the uncertainty of navigation safety. Next, the CELLO denotes that the moorings are released and the ship begins to move with the crew fixing their eyes on the city they are leaving behind; the VIOLIN together with the BASSOON show the smooth sailing towards the mouth of the port. The OBOES say goodbye to the placidity of their calm waters and the abrupt sound of the METALS indicates the exit to the open sea; the spiccato of the STRINGS shows a somewhat busier movement of the water, being the HARP the one that indicates the beginning of the Mediterranean cruise navigation. The CELLO again reflects the gazes of the sailors ashore and from here the TIMPANIS and BASSES in a slow waltz rhythm accompany the rocking of the ship that occurs as it advances between the waves ... The final measures indicate the approach to land and, obviously, the final chord with a different color, the arrival.

La historia en la que se ha basado el compositor comienza al despuntar el alba en un puerto Fenicio, donde un solitario barco mercante se dispone a zarpar con rumbo a Asiria, Mesopotamia. Los primeros compases reflejan la melancolía de sus tripulantes al abandonar su entorno familiar y su tierra, siempre con la incertidumbre de la seguridad en la navegación.
A continuación el VIOLONCELLO denota que se sueltan amarras y el barco comienza a moverse con la tripulación fijando la vista en la ciudad que van dejando atrás; el VIOLÍN junto al FAGOT muestran la suave navegación hacia la bocana del puerto. Los OBOES despiden la placidez de sus tranquilas aguas y el sonido brusco de los METALES indica la salida a mar abierto; el spiccato de la CUERDA evidencia un movimiento algo más ajetreado del agua, siendo el ARPA quien indica el inicio de la navegación de crucero por el Mediterráneo. El CELLO nuevamente refleja las miradas a tierra de la marinería y a partir de aquí los TIMBALES y CONTRABAJOS en ritmo de Vals lento acompasan el balanceo del barco que se produce al ir avanzando entre las olas… Los compases finales indican la aproximación a tierra y, obviamente, el acorde final con un color distinto, la llegada.
