The title track leads with a captivating vocal performance, wrapped in a strong melodic synth top line, crisp percussion, and a weighty kick - blending emotion with refined dancefloor energy. On the flip, ‘Waves’ ventures into deeper territory, delivering a grittier, more club-focused sound with atmospheric textures and a driving groove. The ‘Faces’ EP artwork is an aerial photograph of the Knik Glacial River in Alaska, taken by Jan Erik Waider. With a focus on water, ice, and intricate natural patterns, his work reveals the beauty hidden in the subtle details of the world around us.

Here is my next episode of Sounds from Above, My monthly show on DI.FM Progressive, every second Wednesday of the month at 8:00 UK time.  

Sometimes I have more time to do up a proper introduction and review of my sets, like here now. I open up this set with a track called Holograms from Zuubi, Ashraf Soobiah from Leicester, one of the fastest rising stars in this genre. He spoils us again with another great piece of music. Followed by Mobil, the Ukrainian producer who’s music always pleases me.  His remix of Herself - Wont let you go has dreamy melodies, serene vocals, lifting synths and ambient atmosphere.

Dextrose from India remixes Hanski - LA @ Night, This is an absolutely stellar progressive track,  soothing and the vocal adds more, it's just marvellous. Budapest and Hungary based producer (and Rolling Deep Recordings head honcho) Aquatique delivers a track called “Dusk” its a warm melodic progressive track, filled with deeper textures and high flying melodic work. It has that warm relaxed feel with warming grooves building the track that we often seek for.

Digital Cassette remixes Manu Lei’s track, Tide Times and delivers, its lush and has a old school vibe going on. Music to my ears! 

One of South Korea’s most gifted producers to date, Stan Seba. Stan gifts us ‘Lost Together’ a charming progressive tune, inspired by Stan’s love for travelling with his two daughters and wife, and simply for the fact that, no matter where you are, lost or not, you’re always together. This lovely little production delivers some delightful melodies, soothing atmosphere, warm bass and some stand out vocals and fx that truly give this track a stand out sound that warms the heart in no time.

Daniel Cattlin aka Intrinity the Manchester bound producer releases ‘Obsession’, a fresh and melodic progressive track, lovely. Keith Harris makes his way back on here again with a truly uplifting and sun drenched melodic progressive production called ‘Inner World’.

D05 delivers a track called ‘Late Night’ which has luscious melodies, catchy bass lines, smooth atmos, and catchy vocals. Next up Markus Hakala Remixes a track called ‘Call Of Solitude’ from Denmark based producer Thomas N and its gorgeous! 

I finish up with a track from the same artist I started with, Zuubi. “Come Home” is a fantastic journey of crisp sound design, melodic arrangements and another joyfilled example of what this creative person is up to. It’s a great blend of elements, vocal adds and extremely tight sounds that all together bring on another great track.

Silk Royal is excited to welcome back 19 Hz, the Argentinian super duo of Dario Tello (a.k.a. Airdraw) and Rodrigo Deem, with the brand new single "Another Skin". 19 Hz's last release on Silk Royal, the Beatport hit "Round & Round," was voted "Web Vote Winner" on Above & Beyond's "Trance Around The World" and receive a litany of additional support, so we are especially excited to announce their return to our imprint. This single also comes equipped with brilliant new remixes by Dan & Sam and Blood Groove & Kikis.

19 Hz proved that they are quite capable of composing peak-hour dancefloor material with "Round & Round", but their offering here, "Another Skin", is a journey back to their more pensive and emotive progressive roots. The song kicks off with a house-y beat (highlighted by a snappy snare), brooding and layered pad, and melancholy arp line, all of which coalesce to create a deeply poignant atmosphere. A top line to the arp beings to develop: crystalline bell sounds, which soar above the track like an especially vivacious flock of birds. Meanwhile, the full-bodied pad begins to crescendo with "tidal" force, as the song approaches its midpoint. In the main break, we are treated to a series of achingly beautiful female vocal samples and wintry bell sounds, all of which lend additional emotional resonance to the tune.

Dan & Sam, fresh off their breakthrough hit "Breaking The Illusion" (#2 on the Beatport Trance Release chart for over a week), offer the first of two breathtaking interpretations. Hailing from the USA (Dan Sieg) and Australia (Sam Wilkinson), this exciting new duo offers a more upbeat take on the original, as their version jets out of the gate with a clubby kick and gut-busting rhythm. Yet, the emotive spirit of the original is not abandoned: a teaser mini-break early in the track reveals a moving new lead chord progression and arp line, as well as the very welcome inclusion of the original vox samples. The tune continues to pick up steam, leading into the main break, where a gorgeous new piano solo appears. The dancefloor-friendly groove sits below all of these elements in the latter half of the tune, to truly stunning effect.

Blood Groove & Kikis, who also appeared recently on Silk Royal as a winner of our "Wild At Heart" remix contest, are back with another atmospheric progressive masterpiece. Their track takes a slightly different approach, in that the song is infused with a more "romantic" and soothing spirit, in contrast to the melancholy and almost heart-breaking tones of the prior two mixes. A powerful groove is established early, as well as repeating chord, which eventually develops into a full, 4-bar motif. Also, the vocal samples bring additional melodic texture, as do the Sundriver-esque pads. Glorious new melodic variations appear in the break, including delicate guitar plucks and piano lines. With the arrival of the drop, the listener is submerged in full atmospheric prog splendor, courtesy of one of the finest new acts in the genre.
