"A stellar career within the electronic music industry has seen Jamie Stevens rise to the very top of his profession. Making his full Meanwhile EP debut, the 3-track “Circles” continues his illustrious story.
 
A double ARIA winning artist with iconic live act, Infusion, Jamie Stevens’ solo career is no less impressive. A veteran of the global DJ circuit with performances at Womb (Tokyo), Fabric (London) and across his native Australia and Melbourne hometown, Stevens has continued to see productions feature regularly in the upper echelons of the progressive house chart.
 
With almost 400 production credits to his name, Dave Seaman’s Selador, John Digweed’s Bedrock and Guy J’s Lost & Found have all played host to the unique Jamie Stevens sound on multiple occasions as he continues to go from strength to strength. A meticulous approach to his production work and unrivalled attention to detail is coupled with a wider ability to see the bigger musical picture and his music infused with warm tonality and rich rhythmic patterns.
 
Returning to Meanwhile after a remix of Roger Martinez’s “Cosmic Drum” in late 2020, the “Circles” title track is characterized by a pounding club-friendly beat, while shades of Giorgio Moroder shimmer through the percussive groove and syncopated melodic elements. Building in hypnotic patterns, vocal shouts and a liberal sprinkling of reverse reverb effects and white-noise washes, join forces in a glorious harmony to create a typically impressive body-shaking floor-filler.
 
The aptly titled “Storm Front” quickly emerges with a subtle tension imbued within it. Continuing on the same mesmerizing footing as its predecessor, an immaculately crafted groove, redolent in sub-bass and off-beat percussive roll, powers through the 8-minute timeframe. Subtly synthesized and reverb drenched vocal cuts shimmer across the upper-range throughout, making their presence fully felt at the breakdown before the driving elemental force of the central groove drops back into place through the seething third movement.
 
The final musical image of the sonic triptych has a softer musical vibe brought about by a swathe of complementary harmonic phrases. A beautiful central motif marries elegantly with a smooth vocoded vocal that gently sings the “Stuck on a Feeling” title. Rising and falling with ease Stevens evokes a warm summer evening vibe with his beautiful arrangement. Where the opening pair of tracks hypnotized through powerful rhythmic structures, the final track oozes spellbinding warmth with its glittering array of analogue synth phrasing.

Johanna Brychta - Time [Future Avenue]

Tim Engelhardt, Tibi Dabo, Powel, DJ Clea and Harald Björk have each reimagined a track off the Swedish budding star MOLØ’s debut project released on Jeremy Olander’s Vivrant imprint. 

Vivrant's second release of 2022 brings a stacked remix pack with five offerings from a who’s who of the next generation electronic talent. The project pairs Vivrant’s first lady MOLØ’s stupendous five-track debut EP ‘Luma’ with some the scene’s most enthralling names in Germany’s Tim Engelhardt and Powel, Spain’s Tibi Dabo and fellow Swedes DJ Clea and Harald Björk. 

Luma’ EP - Reimagined breathes new life into what’s already pegged as a future Vivrant classic debut. Sonic styles in the pack range from Watergate mainstay Tim Engelhardt’s technical and ethereal take on lead track ‘Luma’, Crosstown Rebels star Tibi Dabo’s choppy and groovy reinterpretation of ‘Norrø’, Anjunadeep standout Powel’s cinematic and serene approach to ‘Bennebol’, renaissance woman DJ Clea’s eclectic and experimental remode of ‘Kogi’, and last but not least Cocoon’s man of the hour Harald Björk’s enchanting rework of Jeremy Olander collaboration ‘Vanadis’. 

After being the talk of the town on the local underground scene in Stockholm for years, MOLØ was discovered by Olander in 2018 after submitting a promo mix with hopes of getting an opportunity to open for the Swedish star. The mix made an impression. The young talent landed not only an opening slot, she was also signed to his label and management.  
 
MOLØ proceeded with releasing her debut original on Vivrant a mere 18 months after opening up Logic for the first time. The single ‘Vanadis’, a collaboration with Olander, streamed over 1 million on Spotify alone, and was followed up with five-track solo debut ‘Luma’ EP in late 2020. The project made #3 on Beatport, received coverage by Beatportal, Swedish National TV, Swedish National Radio P3, Radio FG, Kiss FM and saw support from Moscoman, Nick Warren, Kevin De Vries, Above & Beyond, Guy J, Whomadewho and more. She capped the year off with a nomination in the dance-category at the Swedish Independent Music Awards.

Since then there’s been no rest for the wicked. MOLØ released remixes on Moscoman’s Disco Halal for Duccio and UK powerhouse Anjunadeep for Eli & Fur, originals on Marc Romboy’s Systematic as well as hard-hitting peak time single ‘Vemode’ on Vivrant, which received a world premiere on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix by Whomadewho.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue rounds out the month of July by welcoming Forty Cats back to the label for her debut EP. With well over a decade’s worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country’s nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina’s production debut landed three years ago via 8bit Music, and in relatively short order the Russian artist has gone on to release projects via Lane 8’s This Never Happened, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Mango Alley. Also finding a home on Sound Avenue, Forty Cats opened the year with a remix of ‘Dreaming Home’ by Eric Lune, before going on to re-imagine Nopi’s ‘Hookan Idyll’ a few short months later. Now as we enter the year's third quarter, Forty Cats returns to Sound Avenue with her first EP project entitled ‘Forest Beast’, alongside remixes from Berni Turletti and Weird Sounding Dude.
