Israeli producer Stereo Underground returns to Balance with a highly impressive bass-heavy two-track EP. Not only does he dazzle with his incredible engineering skills, but his innate ability to craft engaging dance music that makes you sit up and pay attention is on full display.

The beat on ‘Spinner’ is so dirty you will need a bath after hearing it. The bass feels untethered, a swirling mass of low end punctuated by sharp, sizzling hats. A wild synth threatens to unravel everything during the breakdown - yet everything is reigned in at the precise moment of glory. This is dance music for dark rooms.

On ‘Cyberia’ the emphasis is once again on the bass. It’s a top-heavy workout smoothed out by an uplifting melody that becomes progressively more euphoric with each tick. The layers are impressive, building a narrative that will reward those looking to get lost in the music.

In the mid-1980s, the Filterheadz made their first musical steps by playing in a pop band. Bert played guitar, Maarten was a drummer. Their role models were bands such as U2, The Police and Simple Minds, and still today these influences are audible in their songs.

After a whole series of pop, rock, metal and R&B projects with rather modest success, they continuously approached the field of electronic dance music through remixes by Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and David Morales. Therefore, their recent productions are strongly oriented towards the American House scene.

In 1998, they were contracted by the Belgian label Headroom Music. After a few publications under various pseudonyms, they decided to opt for the name "Filterheadz". At that time, Jo Casters' attention was raised and he ordered a number of remixes from them. Their interpretation of "Struggle for Pleasure" (Minimalistix) became a club hit. Inspired by Deep Dish and John Digweed, they advanced to progressive trance and with remixes for Hooj and Platypus scored more club hits.

When the Filterheadz were contacted by Intec Records, they produced a Latin Techno track "Sunshine", which was to be played on Ibiza as a summer song. More remix work for Green Velvet, Bedrock, Eddie Amador, Tiësto and Oliver Lieb followed.

After producing the best-selling techno record of the year, they began to search musical diversity again and published their first mixed genre CD "Tribalicious". The first album is in progress and will be a mixture of Electronic Music and Independent.

It’s all about the music. New York stalwart and beloved DJ, Boris, lives by that statement each and every day. He is a man wearing many hats; one as a touring DJ, another as a producer dynamo and lastly as a label boss of Transmit Recordings. A career forged over decades of long nights in the Big Apple’s most revered rooms. From the infamous Roxy to Crobar to the once dominating Pacha NY on 46th Street, Boris maintained a following so devout, so loyal they were truly ‘Believers’. Pioneering a music movement in a city filled with those who have so little time to pay attention, Boris has been a production powerhouse when not performing for the masses. He’s been tapped by industry leaders such as Carl Cox for his label Intec, Dubfire for his label Sci-Tec, Paco Osuna and his Mindshake records, amongst countless others.

His ability behind the decks and in the studio has not only made him a New York favorite, but his music has taken him places all around the world ranging from the shores of Playa Del Carmen to the magical White Isle known as Ibiza. Known to many as the ‘DJ’s DJ’, Boris has had the career most DJs can only wish to have. The trends, they may change but the New York native has stayed true to his drum driven sounds and created his own niche in the wide and vast world of electronic music. Taking bits and pieces from every part of the globe he visits, Boris always maintains a piece of home in his music. 

Even though his career spans nearly three decades, the journeyman DJ has yet to falter. We currently find him playing leading to destinations across the globe and his music is in high demand with forthcoming releases many sought after labels, Boris is constantly on the tips of the younger generation’s tongue. Why? Because talent, like wine, gets better with age.

What is techno? Scientists and philosophers have long since pondered the concept of its musical definition since it burst out of Detroit in the mid-‘80s. Is it that notion of the “ghost in the machine”, of soul from electronics that its inventors elicited? Or is it more the repetitive throb and thump of 4/4 beats and slow-burning momentum that the Berghain generation are proponents of? Croatian producer Petar Dundov’s stunning music manages to marry both ideals in the most explosive of fashions.

To Dundov, “techno is music that precedes movement. It is dance music, solid enough to carry emotions through the dance floor and abstract enough to be a template for ever”. And indeed his breathtaking productions embody this ethos, serving the inherent function of making your body pulse spontaneously while also challenging your brain with its complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions. It’s the antidote for anyone who thinks that techno is about senseless, dull looping.

Although maybe the word “techno” doesn’t give enough detail about his style, it’s probably the nearest ballpark to whose principles his music adheres – and he is keen to expand the horizons of what people know and expect of the genre. But it’s that sense of his tracks being alive, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity, which gives his music its unique sound and has seen his work crossover into a myriad of different areas of the global electronic music scene. The last two years have seen his mind-bending single Oasis (played by everyone from Dubfire to Sasha to Ben Klock to Prins Thomas to Timo Maas) take the scene by storm with its intricate, ever-changing melodies, John Digweed snap him up for an epic rework of Alan Fitzpatrick’s Reflections, and Gregor Tresher squeeze a deep, mesmerising remix of his track The Life Wire out of him.

His music shows you that he’s a producer with more than churning out mindless, functional and dispensable drivel on his mind. There’s a philosophy entrenched in his productions that breathes the very spirit of life and dynamism into them: “My ultimate goal as a producer and musician is to bridge the world of inspiration and physical world to the extent where the listener wouldn't be able to distinguish between the two. Music has this unique property to communicate deep emotions that are inherently in all of us. We just forgot how to use them, and my search is an attempt to revive those emotions where we all resonate as one.”

Born in Zagreb in the early ‘70s, his career in dance music stretches back the best part of 20 years, but it’s only in the new millennium that he’s been using his own name for his productions. Over the years he’s graced many of the world’s most prestigious and best-loved techno institutions – including mega-festivals I Love Techno, EXIT, Awakenings and Wire, and cutting-edge clubs like Berghain, Matter (RIP), Womb, Air, Fuse and Space. He counts a longstanding relationship with Belgium’s legendary Music Man label amongst his achievements, an imprint that has also played host to releases by everyone from Jeff Mills (for whose label Tomorrow he created the Sculptures mini-LP) to Green Velvet to Robert Hood, and after completing his acclaimed debut album Escapements in 2008, he’s got the follow-up in the works (for completion by the end 2010).

Petar Dundov makes intelligent electronic music that breaks boundaries, moves feet and twists minds. He is without a doubt one of the most inspiring, original and daring producers in electronica, and with the likes of Sven Väth, Francois K, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Josh Wink, Guy J, Glimpse, Hernan Cattaneo, Brendan Moeller, and Danny Tenaglia amongst his fans, it would be hard to disagree.

Renato Cohen a.k.a.Renato Carvalho Cohen is born and raised in São Paulo, Brazilian drum wizard began his career as a DJ and music producer back in 1996. Since then, he has already played at the world's most important techno venues and festivals, his authentic work exciting the masses wherever he goes. 

Though he's been an established name on the Brazilian club circuit for years and has released numerous ground breaking records, Renato deservedly hit the international spotlight in 2002 with the enormous 'Pontape', which was rapidly signed up by Intec.

Renato has almost single-handedly put the Brazilian dance music scene on the map. With his own unique way of mixing styles, from house to techno and influences of funk and jazz, he has built up a clear Brazilian electronic music identity.

This time for the guest mix on our channel he followed the concpet of mixing just his own productions and he certainly did deliver. Highly recommended

Born and raised in the UK, with diverse DNA and a unique way of experiencing the world, James Harcourt is a unique producer that learned the impact of electronic music during a vibrant London club scene.   Since 2021 his reliable flow of unique sounding and dancefloor focused music has graced the DJ sets of Tale Of Us, Sasha, Adriatique, Marino Canal, John Digweed and the list grows ever longer.   

He has been summarised by Berlin producer Jepe as "delivering a constant flow of great tracks ... beautiful compositions and imaginary voyages".  Inspired by a love of characterful, classic synthesizers and the fusion of these machines with the seemingly limitless possibilities of modern production software, he produced a string of heavily supported releases ensuring a steady, constant growth backed by a consistent work ethic and the purest form of love and connection to music and life itself.
 
Most notably his track "Beholden" from 2021 has reached quarter-of-a-million Spotify streams and featured in the Tale Of Us / Afterlife sets for many months.  His Renaissance track "Refraction" spent nearly two months in the Beatport Electronica top 10 and his debut release on Adriatique's excellent Siamese label - "Bloom" - has been featured in the much coveted Spotify Editorial playlist curated by Tale Of Us.

Hailing from the Spanish mainland is a sound that’s resonating globally thanks to a select choice of producers that have been able to create their own path after years of honest and competent work. A notable character from that sub-culture of game changers is Marc Martinez Nadal, aka AFFKT, who consecrated a music career and has been a driving force behind a vivid & empowering sound that is refined by his drive for perfection. He feels deeply in communion with sounds that range from the most energetic hyper-glossy techno to the most detailed and innovative indie-electronica.

Having worked on coining the sound of this alias since 2008, it has been a plethora of sound, place, person & culture that has provided a platform for AFFKT to experiment with his output. Both as an experienced music producer of his own projects and as a demanded remixer. Still fresh is the mind-bending rework he made for GusGus’ ‘Simple Tuesday’. The Valencian has never stopped serving huge electronic crossover masterpieces that derive into the many sub-genres of music via key imprints such as Pets recordings, Multinotes, Mobilee, Last Night On Earth or Stil Vor Talent and his very own Sincopat label, and expressing versatility digging deep into his influences of sounds by delivering heart-stopping, engaging techno on the likes of Octopus, Noir Music, Suara… AFFKT is committed to a life of synthesis and this is what sets himself apart from a comparatively shallow glance at dance music.

Within its versatility is that of working with other musicians. As a result, the fantastic teamwork generated with the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sutja Gutierrez. This synergy can be discovered in their just amazing live performances.

Once described as a ‘Son of a Thousand Sounds’ – precisely the title he chose later for his highly acclaimed, even award-winning LP released in 2016. Another remarkable evidence of his talent, creativity and open-mindedness is the ‘The Big Picture’, his latest album to date, a tour de force released on the renowned Mobilee imprint.

Men of the moment and favours of the month come and go, as the phrases suggest. It’s relatively easy to get a short-term buzz in dance music – but in these days of limitless downloads and increasing disposability, few hotshots have got it what it takes to go the distance. 
Lützenkirchen is one name that refuse to go away. Munich’s foremost electro-techno exponent has moved effortlessly between underground and overground success in recent years scoring a German Top 10 chart hit with the huge 3 Tage Wach while putting out a prolific, consistent stream 
of cool and credible club tracks, all a decade after he first began producing. From his huge remixes for the likes of John Digweed and Coburn to his outstanding 2008 artist album Pandora Electronica, the power and quality of his productions rarely slip. Meanwhile his acclaimed live sets continue to grow in reputation, his charismatic stage presence bringing a breath of fresh air to the usual limp and lifeless laptop workout. 

Tobias Lützenkirchen’s roots in the music game go way back to 1992, when he first appeared on record as singer. After immersing himself in his love dance music by working as a promoter in Ibiza in 1995, he worked as a professional background vocalist and songwriter on some major projects from 1996 to 1999, before succumbing to the house and techno bug that had been slowly consuming him. Some 20+ aliases, artist names and collaborative groups later, Lützenkirchen was born in 2005, the name with which he would finally become a global star. 
Blending infectious, jacking techno grooves with dirty electro sounds and dashes of house, his sounds is electronic as they come, but with a real sense of funk that makes his music accessible to a wide range of DJs, clubbers and part-time dance music enthusiasts. 
He doesn’t follow the musical crowd – but that’s not to say that he doesn’t know how to keep the music fresh. 

Continually striving to innovative and evolve his sound, you can always count on him to push things forward – rather than copying the latest hotshot or ripping off endless old records. 
He only began his DJ career in 2006, when the success of his productions began to bring booking requests from around the world, and by 2008 he had switched to performing pure live sets. But whether he’s playing to 300 people in a sweaty provincial German nightclub, or to 35,000 at a huge festival, his enthusiasm and passion are the same. The last two years have seen him play in every continent at least twice, with 8 tours of Brazil in the past 3 years alone. Despite this heavy travel schedule, he remains one of the most prolific producers around – with a level of quality that few can match. 

He’s not about hype, trends, fads or jumping on bandwagons, Lützenkirchen lets his music speak for itself. And 10 years on, it’s still telling quite a story…

Refusing to be pigeonholed Justin straddles the dark brooding purposeful world of techno alongside the mesmeric beauty of his deeper, more introspective tracks. His material has seen support from Adam Beyer, Technasia, The Advent, Dave Clarke, Dubfire, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims, Shake Shakir, Claude Young, Wehbba and many more. With several EPs and remixes in the pipeline and coming out soon Berkovi continues his mantra of unique techno accompanied by a deep techno live set for the first time showcasing this aspect of his work.

Justin’s live sets have taken him all over the globe from the most intimate of clubs to the largest of festivals. Sistersweet - DJ & so producer hailing from Moscow.
Her musical journey began in the late 90s, initially as a passion for collecting music, which eventually evolved into DJing and music production.

After his towering aural triptych on Meanwhile in late-2025, Fran Garay now debuts on sister label, Meanwhile Horizons with the equally impressive “Gero’s Melody”.

Always finding music at the centre of his soul, Fran Garay has been influenced by electronic sounds from an early age. Working through a variety of genres including Dubstep, EDM and Future House, the Argentine star discovered the sound of Progressive House through Martín García.

Starting his production career on 3rd Avenue in late-2020, the Villa Mercedes resident has seen over a century of credits allied to such notable imprints as Alex O’Rion’s Solis Records, Forty Cats’ PURRFECTION and Mango’s best-selling Mango Alley.

A debut on September 2024’s “Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 4” was an immaculate Meanwhile debut, while the “Restored / Irresponsible / I’ll be Better” created a bright and iridescent glow on GMJ & Matter’s hugely successful imprint in December 2025.

Now beginning 2026 in style, “Gero’s Melody” opens with a shuffling rhythmic dynamo and deep sub-bass. Gradually evolving, sonic delicacy can be heard via a muted and filtered motif that is fully revealed at the beatless breakdown. Combined with a swathe of pitched and panned effects, especially in the second half, the track is a beautiful latticework of rhythm and melody.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic backdrop, “Do What You Can” envelops the listener with a rolling percussion and warm bassline sequence. A pad drone adds another hypnotic element before a haunting lead line cuts through the rhythmic foundation with ease. Developing with counterpoint phrase and a vocal sample, the second half oozes with a filmic quality and dreamlike soundscape.

The final track creates a slightly more downtempo vibe with the pitched and detuned vibrato of “Dark Cities Silent My Tears” exuding a relaxed electronica charm. Expanding over its 5-minute duration, a swathe of swells and textured pads enter the fray at the mid-point as motifs cascade and play off each other. The result is a mellifluous and intriguing landscape that is held together by a rich and mesmerising rhythmic foundation.

This guest mix for Music Treasures is not a typical DJ set. A prolific and talented artist, Michael A now debuts on Meanwhile with his "Bansuri / Orridian" EP.

A Belarusian producer with almost 1,500 credits to his name, Michael A has carved out a sizable niche for himself since his debut work for Stereofaza and Fluro Music in early 2012. Over a hundred of these credits can be found on his own Genesis Music imprint, with a substantial number appearing on a host of blue-chip imprints that include the likes of Replug, Perspectives Digital and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Moreover, almost a century of credits can be found on the long-running an iconic, Proton Music, with 12,000 Beatport followers to its name, including the much-lauded "Fantasy" series which released its fifth volume in June 2024.

Now making a very welcome debut on GMJ & Matter's flagship label, opener "Bansuri" is a typically deep and dominant track that bristles with dark energy. A driving peat provides a relentless propulsion mechanism as an immaculately programmed bassline sits perfectly within the mix. Rapid-fire shakers and hats create subtle urgency and tension while a light and airy melodic sequence gradually evolves, lifting the whole track out of its oppressive floor-filling character at the breakdown with an ethereal blend of spine-tingling melody. Dropping back into its rhythmic foundations in the second half with dynamic intent, the central melodic themes come to force once more in a majestic denouement.

Partner track, "Orridian" continues the dancefloor narrative with its whip-cracking, chest thumping kick before a gently pulsating bassline displays additional low-end purpose. Intricate percussive shakers and intermittent effects generate a rich and squelching stereo-panned melange as layer upon layer of energy and intrigue is created in a sumptuous sonic tapestry. Pausing for breath at the mid-point, another light and refreshing melodic sequence develops with effortless ease. Hitting its stride once more in the third movement, the interlocked rhythmic and bassline patterns of earlier phrase emerge once more, this time accompanied by delicate motifs and multi-textured pads.
