Youshin Gim : <At the Visi/Invisible Streams> for 5 Instruments

작곡가 김유신은 1997년 강원도 영월에서 태어났다. 2008년 작곡가로서 첫 공연을 예술의전당 영재 아카데미에서 가졌고 같은 해 강원문화재단에서 주최하는 미래인재 육성프로그램에 문화예술 부문으로 최연소 선발되어 지금까지 꾸준히 재단의 후원아래 활동해오고 있다. 이후 한국예술영재교육원 교육생으로 2010년부터 2013년까지 약 4년간 김성기, 이영조 교수를 사사하며 작곡과 피아노를 배웠고 2015년에는 한국예술종합학교 작곡과로 입학하여 유병은, 황성호 교수를 사사하고 재학기간 중 브레멘 국립예술대학교(HfK Bremen)에서 외르크 비르켄쾨터(Jörg Birkenkötter)를 사사하여 교류수학 과정까지 성공적으로 이수한 이후 귀국하여 졸업했다. 졸업 후 그는 공군군악대에서 작/편곡병으로  근무하여 여러 행사의 편곡 및 군가 작곡을 맡았다.

영재원 재학 도중 바이올리니스트 신수빈으로부터 지속적인 편곡 의뢰를 받아온 것을 기점으로 여러 영화음악 및 클래식 작품들을 실내악으로 편곡하는 작업을 해왔고 이후 지휘자 노태철의 추천으로 러시아 울란우데(Ulan Ude) 국립극장에서 1달간 머물며 마스터클래스 및 푸치니 ‘나비부인’ 편곡 및 사보작업을 하기도 하였다. 또한 박창수 하우스콘서트, 대구텍(DaeguTec.)의 모세 샤론 회장의 후원으로 수성아트피아홀에서 첫 개인독주회를 열었으며, 경북대학교 아티스트 초청으로 대구와의 지속적인 교류를 맺어왔다. 

작곡가로서 그의 작품은 러시아 베큠 콰르텟(Vacuum Quartet), 이탈리아 MDI Ensemble, 독일 E-MEX Ensemble, 앙상블 아인스(Ensemble EINS), Contemporary Arts Music Project, 옴스크 교향악단(Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra), 불가리안 교향악단(Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra), 미보스 현악사중주단(Mivos Quartet), 클랑포룸 빈(Klangforum Wien) 등 세계 각지의 유수 악단에 의해 상트페테르부르크 국제음악제(reMusik.org), 한예종 오르간축제(KNUA Organ Festival), 대관령국제음악제(GMMFS Festival), 바르샤바 신데시스(Synthetis 2018 Summer Course), 바르셀로나 모데른(Curs Internacional de Composició Barcelona Modern 2022), 발렌시아 음악제(Valencia Int. Performance&Academy), ISCM 국제현대음악협회 제 48회 범음악제, 슬로베니아 콘서트 아틀리에 시리즈 2019/20 등 여러 음악제에서 연주되었다. 러시아에서 열린 2016 옴스크 작곡콩쿠르 1위 및 향신회 콩쿠르, 영남작곡콩쿠르에서 1위없는 2위, 2022년 중앙음악콩쿠르에서 3위를 수상했다. 

군악병 제대 이후 헝가리 페테르 외트뵈시 현대음악 재단(Peter Eotvos Contemporary Music Foundation)에서 작곡가 페테르 외트뵈시(Peter Eotvos)와 조지 아페르기스(Georges Aperghis) 컨설팅 프로그램으로 참여하였고 2021년부터 영월문화재단의 후원으로 현대음악 기획을 맡으면서 대중들에게 보다 넓은 현대음악의 스펙트럼을 제공하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 현재 그는 한국 소노르 21 앙상블(SONOR XXI Ensemble)의 상주작곡가로 선정되어 활동중이며, 현재 스페인 산 세바스티안 Musikene 바스크 고등음악원에서 작곡가 라몬 라즈카노와 전자음악, 작곡 석사과정을 진행중이다.

<Biography>
Youshin Gim is the Composer/Pianist/Conductor from Republic of Korea. He studied Bachelor of Composition at Korea National University of Arts Since 2015 to 2019, ERASMUS at Hochschule für Künste Bremen with Jörg Birkenkötter and Atelier Neue Musik Ensemble(ANM) Bremen for New Music Pianist, later on 2022 He moved onto Musikene - Superior Music School in Basque Country with Composer Ramon Lazkano for Master Degree Contemporary Music Creation.
Through a many masters of Piano and Composition he took a masterclasses with Soojung Shin, Kevin Kenner, Da-Sol Kim and Younghi Pagh-Paan, Richard Danielpour, Thierry Escaich at Great Mountain Music Festival and School(GMMFS) Since 2009 to 2015. He was nominated Gangwon Cultural Foundation’s Future Talent Program Since 2008 until now.  He had a 2 Recitals at Daegu, Supported by Daegu-Tek Company and Gyeongbuk Univ.(Prof. Heesook Oh) as a Guest Artist in 2013.

He was commissioned and closely worked with various music groups such as Ensemble E-MEX(Germany), MDI Ensemble(Italy), Vacuum Quartet(Russia), Syntagma Duo(Portugal/Spain), Klangforum Wien(Austria), VICE Ensemble(Spain), Bulgarian National Symphony Orchestra(Bulgaria), Omsk Philharmonic(Russia), Contemporary Art Music Project Florida(USA), KNUA Ensemble(Korea), Ensemble EINS(Republic of Korea), MIVOS Quartet(USA) etc. and featured many festivals world widely St. Petersburg International Composition Festival 2019, Valencia VIPA 2019/22, Curs Internacional de Composició Barcelona Modern 2022, Synthetis 2018 Summer Course Program for Young Composers, ISCM 48th Korea Pan Music Festival 2020, Joongang Music Concours 2022 etc. Youshin Gim was one of alumni at Peter Eötvös Foundation Consultation Program with Georges Aperghis on 2021, at Budapest and Tongyeong Int. Music Festival Composer Seminar 2019, Takefu Composer Seminar 2019 with Toshio Hosokawa. He received many awards including 48th Joongang Music Concours 2022(3rd Prize), Dialogue Classica Omsk Competition 2016(1st Prize), Yeongnam Composition Competition(2nd Prize).
Currently he is the Musical Director of Contemporary Music Group Yeongwol Since 2022, also Composer-in-Residence at SONOR XXI Ensemble Since 2018.
