Butch’s unmistakable music has always worn the influence of disco proudly on its sleeve. Both his mega-hit No Worries and his first contribution to the Running Back catalogue, Desire, are essentially modern-day disco records. The same goes for his return to the label with Glory Night—perhaps even more so, thanks to its vintage engineering and authentic aural treatment. Equipped with the genre’s signature sounds and arranged like a lost disco edit from the late ’70s, Butch applies the lotions and potions that today’s dancers demand, creating one of those peak-time sensations that make him unique—complete with confetti, a firecracker breakdown on top, and an extra rhythm section bonus tool included. Just Chill and Just Fly continue that narrative. While the first appeals to fans of R&B or funk samples (though no recordings were harmed in the process), it is catchy as hell and creates an inescapable maelstrom. The second, meanwhile, draws on the principles of deep house and exercises itself in contemplation. Be that as it may, here are a couple of tracks that work on almost any floor and at any time. Or, to quote Giorgio Moroder: “Disco is music for dancing, and people will always want to dance.”

'Astounding Science Music' on Batti Batti is a six tracks ep paying tribute to Science Fiction and to its icons. Musumeci's sound is mostly influenced by the atmosphere of early Chicago House and all the tracks are strongly characterized by the ideas of some Science Fiction's prominent authors like J.G. Ballard, Sir Arthur C. Clark, Isaac Asimov, Poul Anderson, Jack Williamson. A deep and persistent acid-synth in the background and a stately strings makes the titletrack a journey into Musumeci's world: a place where the Science Fiction strongly influences the reality, where the ideas have the same relevance of facts and, above all, the sense of wonder is preserved from disillusion. The square bass bounces on the beat from the beginning to the end while a strong synth hook introduces 'Future Now': an infectious track that creeps among the neural connections creating the effect of an electric shock on the whole body. 'The Day After Tomorrow' announces, on top of a nervous bassline, the end of traditional role of the city as a meeting place and draws a world where people will no longer commute, they won't travel for business anymore, they will need travel only for pleasure. 'Stranger in Paradise' it is a short hike in a post-catastrophe world accompanied by a hypnotic piano on a slow rhythm that seems to hypnotize the time. The extreme consequences of a life anti-social, the fear of diversity, the desire to shut out the world and solve all problems by simply closing the front door: this is a provocative experiment that takes the sound of 'Home', a visionary music track whose elements are traceable in the classics of the 'Windy City': 808 drum synthesized to the minimum, simple and effective bass line, incisive synth melody and impressive strings. The bundle is closed with probably the most famous laws in the literary technique known as Science Fiction: the "Three Laws" of robotics by Isaac Asimov are here turned into a slow-tempo with vibrating bass line, a series of random effects and strong brass chords!

If we'd tell you that P.A.C.O. and Tube & Berger's "Greyjoy" is the dopest cream pie in the gang bang world of music, would you believe us? Not to mention that the flipside "Tyrion" was produced by P.A.C.O. sitting in a cave in the middle of Kasachstan wearing only a pink tanga. What does it matter? So: No more words, just music.

Biography 

Musumeci is the musical project of Mauro Di Martino, a Sicilian DJ and producer active since the late 80s. Through his numerous and always surprising productions — more than 200 releases and remixes in the last 10 years alone, appearing on labels like Bedrock, Compost Black Label, Diynamic Music, Future Disco, Innervisions, MoBlack, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation, Sudbeat, Toy Tonics, Universal, Watergate, and many more — he has largely contributed to putting Italy on the global map of electronic music.

Whether on his own labels — Somethingnu, Engrave Ltd, Buttress, and Multinotes — or through his various collaborations and remixes for artists such as Emmanuel Jal, Bob Sinclar, Kungs, David Guetta, MoBlack, and Crystal Fighters, to name just a few, Musumeci is committed to shining a light on promising talents as well as heartfelt, distinctive personalities, all while continuously expanding his musical world and knowledge.

His extensive experience on the dancefloor and in the studio, his ability to fully embrace the musical moment regardless of genre, and his ongoing quest for pure, colorful emotions of all kinds make him one of the unmissable figures of the contemporary electronic music scene.
