Revered London-based electronic DJ and producer Inigo Kennedy returns to his personal and inspirational Asymmetric Records imprint with the first release on the label in twelve years. 

2020 offered the techno pioneer an unanticipated amount of studio time to realign his focus into the highly acclaimed label, the result being the 2021 rebirth of Asymmetric, a comeback that is truly an honour to behold.

The EP opens with the self-titled ‘Recovery Mode’ in which Kennedy’s distinct style pours through, hypnotic melodies melting into heavy basslines, transporting the listener to the darkened rooms we all miss so intensely. ‘Ricochet’ follows, possessing equally booming basslines and twisted rolling rhythms, enveloping the listener into a powerful dancefloor rapture. Kennedy’s incomparable aesthetic is magnified in ‘Dusty Yarns’, the producer revelling in the opposite forces of dark and light, the listener suspended between determined kick drums and a celestial, gesticulating melody. 

It closes with ‘Captivation’; the composition majestically atmospheric and somewhat otherworldly, the track concluding the release in perfect fashion, leaving the listener pining for more.

The fourth edition of These Tasty Records' 'This Tasty' comes with four delicious cuts from label-head Aymeric, the SINM collective, Sunaas and Lille-based artist Karaba, who recently also had an impressive EP released on Haŵs. Consequently the Northern French kicks of This Tasty Volume #4 with his track Breakin' N' Bazzin', a melodic sure shot to make floors move. With its break-esque note in combination with a straight House bass-line as well as nuances of deep chords, a touch of vocals and a laid-back but effective break Breakin' N' Bassin' has everything one needs to have a groovey time at an easy dance out.

Cormac brings the heat into the new year with a brand new EP on his Polari imprint, this time coming from Greek DJ/production duo, Boys‘ Shorts.
Boys’ Shorts is a Greek DJ/production duo based in London. The duo was founded by Vangelis (ex-LAGASTA) and Tareq.
The Crop Tops EP‘s title track is a lyrical ode to queer dancefloor longing and is already proving to be a much requested hit.‘Days Without You‘ and ‘Nostalgia‘ compliment each other with a laidback emotional warmth, whilst ‘In The City‘ draws on their rave culture roots. The EP displays an expansive and clever musical world. Cormac on the EP:
Boys‘ Shorts are two talented greek queers, whose music I've been playing for the last few years. I love their use of lyrics , their nods to rave and 90s music culture. It's truly a great thing to showcase them at their pop sensibility finest with the Crop Tops EP. All of these tracks have been heavily ID requested in my sets the last year.
Forthcoming EP Crop Tops is due to be released digitally, 17th of February.

Dedicated to the twang of Roland’s silver baseline box with a varied string of artists: DVS1, Marko East & Jordi Chu (whose collaboration sparked the idea of a whole series), Like A Tim via Prins Thomas, Katerina and I:Cube.

The Parisian put it in a nutshell, too: „Although rinsed to death to the point of becoming a parody of itself, acid will last forever.“ Therefore, his Folie Noire is combining the original recipes with hypnotic European influences, while Marko and Jordi present a rough and direct 303-909 live jam, Prins Thomas puts his wickedest smile on Like A Tim’s Wonderline from 2005 and Katerina sets a lucid dream to sanguine music.

Finally, there is a rare and much desired musical outing by the unique DVS1. A direct ode to Chicago’s acid and beatdown styles and its Midwest companions, it is a heads-down-lights-down late night track made for driving up and down Lower Wacker Drive. Trippy trip artwork by the inimitable Gasius.

Trivia: If the piano is the bread of house music, the acid line is its butter!

Bosco050.5 follows the sound of the previous one serving four most exciting electro, italo-disco and acid infected floor burners!
“Run it Back” is a simple and dry tune, has those big cutting edge sounds typical of the early 2000 80's contaminated electro.. perfect for your starting set or in recreating that unique atmosphere.
On the A side follows “Half Way Trough”, an effortlessly driving tech-acid house tune, strangely compelling, with a timeless feeling.. looking like an essential weapon for any dancefloor.
B side starts with the spicy electro-disco tune “Over The Machines” epic and functional at the same time with evocative arpeggios and a mechanical vocodered speach.
The Ep ends with the cyberfunk stomper "Revolution" , a twisted electro funk groover in typical Minimono vein.
Fabio Della Torre and Ennio Colaci celebrate this 50th.5 release on Bosconi in great style, remodernising the sound that they used to like when they first met in the early 2000, under the influence of those Berlin labels like Areal, Sender, Festplatten, Funkhaus, Beautycase, Lasergun, Gigolo.. and all of those labels who trademarked the sound of those unforgettable Berlin days.

On the streets of Berlin, it’s easy to spot people who know their electronic music. You’ll see curious partygoers as well as picky listeners whose appreciation isn’t easy to win. Tonight, both crowds are heading to the presentation of Daniel Gardner’s record. A cult album that was revived thanks to a fresh concept and a remaster. By evening, Jonny Knüppel was packed. Among the guests — a flamboyant duo that couldn’t go unnoticed. Some swayed to rhythms that felt like old friends, while others — luckier ones, perhaps — were discovering an entire world for the first time. As they approached the booth, Plate leaned in with a warm smile:

— Daniel, we’re huge fans! And that track in particular, Wasting Time, the way the instruments speak to each other, it is just incredible.

premiere: Frivolous – Cinemascopique [CHCH04]

This track has a strong latin influence to it, taking the Puerto Rican legend that is Hector Lavoe and giving one of his standards (La Murga) a club mix.

Starting with some brass call and responses, the track drops tempo down to 100bpm in the breakdown and builds back up for a full on party time drop - making it perfect for DJs who like dropping latin bombas!

La Murga makes reference to latin musical theatre across the South American lands from Argentina to Panama.
