ODD Pleasures se conjura en una carta de presentación sin igual orquestando su primer lanzamiento a bombo y platillo con un elenco de artistas de primer nivel.

 Los dogmas utilizados para esta junta cósmica son el amor por los ritmos a baja revolución, tintes Kraut o un sentimiento común por la música electrónica con influencias  post punk y new wave. 

Preparaos con este sello porque viene con el acelerador a fondo para los siguientes lanzamientos.

PREMIERE: Alex Aguayo - Erase Your Memory [ODD Pleasures]

There were some landscapes that simply took your breath away; the kind that made you feel like a tiny speck on this thing we call planet earth. The canyon below was a sight to behold, its huge stone surfaces coated in tones of copper and green. If you squinted hard enough you could trace clusters of tiny humans exploring the winding paths, tunnels and bridges that littered the expanse. It felt somewhat magical or metaphysical; a natural wonder of the world...

It's been almost a decade since Italian producers Rodion and Fabrizio Mammarella teamed up for a collaborative EP on the latter's Slow Motion imprint. Like their first outing, Apennini, back in 2012 this new release proves yet again why these two are a perfect production pairing, fusing their shared love of synthesized melodies and machine-driven funk and disco. The duo continue this across their Sierra Madre EP, which was recorded in Mexico City with a guest appearance from Roam Records and Duro alumni Mijo, and backed by a rework from Italo-Belgian duo Front De Cadeaux.

We are really happy to give welcome to Psycho Weazel. The Swiss duo
that after releasing some works on Correspondant or Belly Dance
Services, come to Rotten City to deliver two powerful original tracks
inspired on Lynch’s universe, both with a deliberately club spirit.
The release is completed with a trippy & tribal version of "White Lodge"
by Mexican guy Tyu and a narcotic slow motion re-interpretation of
"Black Lodge" by the Greek masters of this kind of sounds, Stevie R &
Parisinos.

The latest edition of our free download series welcomes Emi Galvan for his first appearance. Argentinean DJ and producer Emi Galvin has consistently defied expectations throughout his much-lauded decade-long career. Through the success of early tracks like 2016's ‘Taking Over’ and ‘Universe’, the Buenos Aires resident emerged into one of the progressive scene’s most promising talents. A rich musical background with time spent in rock bands playing guitar and singing gave Emi’s electronic compositions a measurable creative edge. This elusive sound did not go unnoticed as he quickly earned the praise of genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren; while landing career defining releases via Balance, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. Also an accomplished DJ, Emi’s long undulating sets have been applauded for their impeccable track selection and exquisite programming. As one of Argentina’s most in demand DJs, Emi has travelled the world, delighting crowds in Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Spain and more. A recent highlight in the Argentine’s sets has been his unofficial remix of Massive Attack’s ‘Girl I Love You.’ Released in 2010 as part of the band’s ‘Heligoland’ album, the song would go on to become one of the LP’s most recognizable tracks, racking up more than ten million plays on Spotify in the process. Emi’s version has seen considerable live play in recent months, with Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastien Leger and more all airing the remix across their sets. Tel Aviv-based artist Yotam Russo (formerly known as Lott) signs to Local Suicide’s label Iptamenos Discos and announces  his new ‘Twilight Zone Disko’ EP which will be out May 26th, 2023 on limited clear vinyl & digital. 
The 3-tracker is the Israelis most mature release to date and perfectly showcases his unique approach to modern electronic  dance music. Being known for his fusion of heavy drum machines with psychedelic guitars, acid melody-hooks and catchy  vocals he creates a rich spectrum of sound that takes listeners on a journey through a range of emotions and genres.Over time, he has cultivated a distinct style characterized by by an optimistic and upbeat vibe that is both nostalgic and contemporary. In this EP he expands his creative expression by adding meaningful text that resonates with his audience, making his music a powerful vehicle for storytelling. Whether this be via performing live or in the studio, Russo innovatively blends genres from Indie Dance, Synthpop, Dark Disco to House & Acid often referring to bands like LCD Soundsystem, Soulwax or The Faint. 
The EP’s title track & first single ‘Twilight Zone Disko‚ is a punk approach to disco, with distorted vocals, and hypnotic synths,  it aims to make the listener feel like they’re never alone on the dance floor. The track’s gradual ascent is driven by a  combination of the drum machine’s rhythmic beats and the alluring lyrics, resulting in a psychedelic sound. The ‘second single  ‘From The Speaker To The Right’ alludes to the desire of a young generation to dance and detach from the world outside of  the club. The track’s progression is dictated by the drum machine, which interweaves, and is layered alongside, with evocative  synthetic sounds and jarring sound effects like sirens, creating a moody and captivating journey. The closer ‘Take Some Time‚  is a homage to the desire to create, and the risks that come with following your passion. By incorporating prominent  psychedelic guitar riffs, the track exudes a punk rock energy that merges seamlessly with the funky beat. This blend of genres  results in a novel and dynamic sound that’s both edgy and catchy. 
This EP is set to release via Iptamenos Discos on May 26th, 2023 with three original tracks and two radio edits on a strictly limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally via Iptamenos Discos on May 26th, 2023.

The intriguing tale of French duo Kimshies continues... Their sole release from 2004 re-upped into the ether by Solomun in 2018, it triggered a return to the studio after almost 15 years. Making up for lost time, they’ve already dropped two exceptional EP's on Nein. Now comes their Duro debut... And it’s a perfect dark disco match.

Even the title says as much ‘Fucked Up Mama’: a scuzzy, frazzled jam rich in oiled distortion and lighting strike synths and a rising case of venomous acid mid-way, there’s a grit in the groove that’s going to take more than a few lockdown handwashes to feel clean from. It’s coupled by a series of equally forthright remixes: fresh from completing his debut album for Life & Death, Disco Halal alumni Autarkic strips your mama down to her kickdrum undies and redresses her in a dynamic laser laced charmer.

He’s in good company... Nein brethren Cabaret Nocturne makes a welcome appearance with a creeping dark electro twist while La Dame Noir’s Arthur Johnson gets busy with two perspectives; one where the swing and organs provide funky refreshment and a bonus one which takes us right back into the gritty analog mama-fucking attitude of the original. Exceptional. The intriguing tale continues...

The second release of @latidorecords sees another slew of new forces showcase their production flairs in a four track original compilation. Italian nu dance artist and modular aficionado Tulioxi kicks off proceedings with an energetic track prancing on the border of space disco with acid basslines. 

Durand’s 'Estramonio' follows suit, with a 6 minute-long winding synth excursion. Tel Aviv underground scene pioneer Eliezer joins the cast with 'Prime Minister', a sinuous slice of introspective dark disco with ghostly vocals. Rounding up the release is JackWasFaster’s 'Azorín', a playful arrangement with dazzling pads and lots of groove appeal.
