I guess it's like, love.

Many are the rumors that revolve round the Tamperean tribe called Kemialliset Ystävät (Chemical Friends), regarding for instance the recipe for their brand of magic potion and their ethnic background. Contradicting the common beliefs, this group, which is now, depending on how you count, releasing its first or tenth album, does not consist of elves, gnomes or some lesser known folk of the forest, but is mainly the product of one human risen from the rotten ditch of Nekala (a Tampere suburb). With his vast set of allies he has by the power of his spirit carved a whole multitude of caves into the cellar of an otherwise unsuspect looking house. From that Cellar Yuniversum (a rough translation of the disc's name) originates this record, which I myself regard rather as the first, as its many predecessors have been either halves of a long player, virtually unobtainable or partial rereleases. Now, at last, as we venture deeper into the cellar than ever before, we see the aforementioned elves and gnomes in their festivities, as the urbanization process has cut down the Tampere backwoods and has thus forced them to flee into the caves of Kemialliset Ystävät, who naturally are in good terms with all tiny earthlings with pointed ears. (Allow me to return to the subject magic potion: I've heard that in order to compensate the Lebensraum, the forest tribes have provided for Kemialliset Ystävät an unlimited supply of bottled fairy's pee, which is the strongest nordic hallucinogen known to man. Whether it ends up being sold at schoolyards and potato markets or to inspire this music, to that information I've got no acces.) By the time one has sunk deep enough into the world of the record, it isn't any more a question of seeing, but knowing in the sense of Plato's anamnesis, re-remembering. The same bearded chap, the Fostex left to the cave by higher powers and a varied selection of nearly broken instruments guarantee that this certainly psychedelic avant folk which stutters just as much as it should makes me remember myself once more at the mountains, naked, as the only human in the whole world. Alone, but still in unity with the world. A mysteriosly long trip across the stars too, and the smell of a Lettish fish factory and, yes, the Cellar Yuniversum is foggy. Kellari Juniversumi fills my head with all this, and countless other things as well, and all I can do is to Quote Janne Porkka (a slightly retarded Finnish TV quiz personality) and state: "It is correct!"

VLUBÄ
Vlubä is an argentinian paranormal art project of ritual, cosmic, drone and free music founded by Müriscia Divinorum and Aphra Cadabra.
Since their fundation in 2001 they have released severals albums on different labels around the world (Ikuissus, Pseudoarcana, Chocolate Monk, Foxglove, Phase!, RootDonLonie, Buh, etc) and many compilations, splits and collabs with artist like Alan Courtis, Futurians, Uton and more.
Vlubä has played in festivals (Festival Integraciones - Perú and Festival los Lenguajes Alienígenas - México), several gigs in the underground scene and multimedia projects... like recently, in the peruvian desert of Chilca with a hypnotic UFO show and a radio transmission to space. All their works are focussing on extraterrestrial theme, sci-fi and mostly in a strong psyche-shamanistic soundscape essence. As they say: “Vlubä is an Entheogen”.
"Exile to Another Dimension" was recorded around 2014 with the vision in mind that they were a famous alternate rock band in another dimension. A quite different album in their catalogue.

Many know Janne Laurila and Jukka Nousiainen as great songwriters and musicians (as solo performers and from bands like Office Building and Räjäyttäjät). Vaisu Luksus is their project for free music. "Bersabea is a collaboration between Niko-Matti Ahti and Birgir Örn Jónsson. The music follows an open-ended inquiry. Improvisations, samples, voices, field recordings and other aural flotsam gets collaged into bite-size pop donuts, and vice versa. Niko-Matti and Birgir live in different countries in the northern hemisphere. The music is stitched together somewhere in between. Nothing is premeditated, nothing is arbitrary. Everything is playful, joy and terror abound. "The Newest Historic Site" is Bersabea's first full length."

Darkwing Duck

Health is the first single from everybody’s new favourite band Parsnip. The track is lifted from their debut self-titled 7”, which will be out November 10th on Anti Fade, just in time for a national tour of Australia as part of Gizzfest. Parsnip are four girls from Melbourne whom have only been around for a year, but have certainly kept themselves busy during that time, playing plenty of great shows in Melbourne, as well as the rest of Australia on many stellar lineups. Traffic Island Sound - All Aboard

Illusion is the second recording of Eero Koivistoinen Quartet for Svart Records after the quartet’s debut Hati Hati. The ensemble has worked together for five years,  performing at festivals and clubs in Finland and the USA.
 
Playing together for 5 years has made the ensemble tight and the interplay is happening. All members of the quartet are recording artists and playing busy in many other combinations as well. Drummer Jussi Lehtonen is making his Svart Records debut at the same time with his Quintet recording Move On. Pianist Alexi Tuomarila released recently his second trio album Kingdom on Edition Records. Bass player Jori Huhtala just finished  recording with his new trio Jori Huhtala 3.
 
The title tune Illusion is a new composition in a lyrical atmosphere. Big 5 is named after 5 African game animals, the time signature is also 5/4. Eero is playing soprano sax. What animal is this? Maybe a leopard. Catalonia is a melody from a suite El Viejo Almacen for a big band. First in rubato and then modal vamping in 6/4 
 
Straight Up is one of the most popular tunes that Eero ever wrote. There is also a big band version of it on Arctic Blues / Umo Jazz Orchestra / Svart album. Is Blue In Green composed by Miles Davis or Bill Evans? My vote is Evans. This is a soprano sax & piano duet from an earlier Hati Hati session. Hallanvaara’s melodic motives can be found in a song Harmaaparta, Hallanvaara. It is based on a poem by famous Hannu Salama. The composition has a dark and free feeling starting with the famous big gong of the studio.
 
This recording session was the last one made in the famous M1 Studio of YLE (Finnish Broadcasting Company). The title Goodbye M1 is dedicated to the studio where I  myself and so many  others have had a number sessions and memorable moments during the 35 years that this sidewise largest studio in Finland was still active.
