To inaugurate our first installment of Cicada we welcome Oakland based electroacoustic composer, improviser, and sound artist Amma Ateria @ammaateria. A delicately crafted hour long sonic meditation that reflects the internal narratives that arise as we continue to navigate the current state of living in quarantine. How these narratives create a nonlinear understanding of time, bringing us in and out of lucid states that are expressed in wistful arcs that mirror the nocturnal tides of an ocean. There is the feeling of loss, of fear, the memories we return to, the places we’ve been, the ones we have yet to go, there are moments of acceptance but most of all there is hope. 

“Time unfolds in many dimensions. In isolation, time becomes a perception and escapes the persistence of awareness. During binaural states, internal fluttering diminishes to solitude for free-form thinking. In infinite loops, the past repeats itself with hopes of variations in future times, transforming deafening noise into meditative stance”.

we are very privileged to have 2 legends from the southwest of England, The Horn & Mark Darby.

Mark Darby is first to join us, with a treasure trove of deep tripped out techno gems. The man behind the Record shop & label “Mighty Force” was part of UK's early acid house & rave scene. The shop's birthplace was in Exeter, early 90s and this "unusual" store quickly became a catalyst for electronic music & a platform for local producers. Demo tapes were flooding in, but one, in particular, caught Mark's attention, the name on the tape was Aphex Twin, resulting into the 1st ever Aphex Twin record been put out.
On the second hour, we are joined by label friend Steve Horn, aka The Horn. A prolific producer since the 90's with a unique style of techno and obscure sonic experiments with releases on Evolution label and more recently, Mighty Force, Workshop & Klass Wrecks.
