"In the enigmatic realm where music meets mystery, there exists a Berlin-based duo known only as "Dubiose Gestalten." Born from the shadows of anonymity, this enigmatic pair weaves tales of intrigue and surrealism through their sonic landscapes. Not worried, just bankrupt, they navigate the precarious balance between artistic expression and financial uncertainty, embracing their low income with a high incidence of creative fervor.
With a penchant for the unconventional, their live performances are shrouded in secrecy and allure. Audiences are drawn into their world, where a 50-minute intro sets the stage for an immersive journey through the depths of the human psyche, only to be met with a tantalizing 10-minute outro that leaves lingering questions in its wake.
Dubiose Gestalten are more than musicians; they are avatars of society, reflecting its complexities and contradictions through their music. Their soundscapes evoke the surreal and the sublime, drawing listeners into a realm where reality blurs with fantasy.
Who are Dubiose Gestalten? Perhaps they are mere mortals, or perhaps they are something more elusive, something beyond comprehension. One thing is certain: their music resonates with a haunting beauty that leaves an indelible mark on all who dare to listen."

Schrödinger’s Box Radio is back with another wild show of electronic anomalies, this time with guest mix by IFM legend - Selene!

The assignment: Record a mix with tracks that you’d listen to 100 times.

The result: A mix of machine-age techno and electro to listen to while wandering through the post-apocalyptic streets of Earth.

Selene has been transmitting techno, ambient and electro beats on the airwaves of intergalactic.fm since 2012 — first as the host of The Teahouse on IFM’s beloved ambient channel The Garden, and then on The Dream Machine as the host of Special Circumstances. She’s made multiple appearances at the IFM Festival in the Hague.

Originally schooled in acid house at full moon raves by the Wicked Soundsystem in the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to New York where she developed her love of techno thanks to events like the legendary New Music Seminar. Any additional free time was spent digging through crates at Temple Records in Soho and throughout various sidewalk sales and flea markets in the city. In addition to IFM, she’s also had the honor of recording guest mixes for Berlin’s Vortex Traks, Chester’s Victrix, Dresden’s Per Musica Ad Astra, the Real Techno mix series and KEXP in Seattle.

Favorite sonic experiences: Plastikman at the Packard Plant, I-f at IFM Fest, Tee Scott at Sound Factory Bar, Robert Hood at Movement, Jeff Mills at Twilo, Jenö at Bonny Doon and Kraftwerk at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

In this edition of QC, we are thrilled to welcome the one and only Philipp Otterbach @philipp-otterbach , long-time record collector of all kinds of music, DJ and producer, who would approve his words. Back in the 2000s, he and his close friend Vladimir Ivkovic spearheaded some forward-looking dances in the Ruhr region of Germany, leading the way at the forefront. When the legendary Salon Des Amateurs club opened its doors in the Dusseldorf, Philipp was undeniably among its first resident DJs.

As for his musical productions, his discography spanning from releases on Knekelhuis, R.i.O, Music From Memory, to Offen showcases a diverse range of styles, from modern classical to ambient, industrial, and electronic, each imprinting his distinctive sonic signature. Listening to his set feels like delving into a vast museum like archive, where genres intertwine, swiftly transition, and surprise with their narrative twists.

He also enjoys acting like a social otter, spending time with his deer and feeding the squirrels.

Julianna has specialised in the fusion of percussion and melody, exploring genres and bringing together old school with the new gems of the future: techno-breaks, trip-funk and house to create unique sound experiences. 

Her DJ sets stand out for her ability to create fluid transitions between genres, guiding the audience on a musical trance journey that reflects her artistic vision within the national electronic scene. She has been an active part of the Colombian electronic music scene for more than 15 years,
collaborating in different important projects in the region from activism to curational nights and has been performing in institutions such as Berghain, Tresor and Robert Jhonson, as well as throughout Europe, the United States, North, Central and South America.

She is currently leading the BAMBA project, which aims to inspire future generations to explore the infinite possibilities of sound on the dance floor in conjunction with communities.
