Two year anniversary episode of Cricket Talk with two dear friends from Zürich. First up is Nive with tracks that contain a lot of elements from Carnatic music, which she has known since childhood. Second hour is a selection by Subject To Restrictions Discs label head Dominik André. He went through his record collection and picked out some albums he hadn't listened to in a long time and then chose the tracks he likes best at that moment, rediscovering the music in the process. Bobby Would, “First and foremost I work as an artist. And I'm a collector. I collect a lot and try to reuse most of it, make drawings, photos or recordings of things I want to remember, work on. In doing so, I already change the starting point of the material, the meaning, rebuild it, make something different out of it, lose myself in details in order to then formulate them. "Memos" consists of sounds that I have collected on the way. A serial collage, if you want. As in many of my works, the individual parts mean a lot to me, fields of memory that the viewer/listener - deprived of any meaning - can reinterpret.”

End of the Republic uses the words of Abraham Lincoln to produce a dystopian view of the state of the republic.

The music was made using a Soma Enner, a granular synth and two tape decks running at different speeds. It was of course recorded live with the words dubbed afterwards.

My take on this was to use glitches or extraneous sounds that crop up in field recordings. These are usually edited out but here I extracted some from a couple of recordings and joined them to form a continuous sequence. After extending this sequence and adding a touch of reverb and delay I combined it with an evolving electronic drone.
