This mix was recorded in 2010 for the treasure trove which is promomixes.com. 
Promomixes 006 features my take on the early Belgian New Beat / EBM wave which hit Belgium between 1985 and .... well, depending on who you talk to it lasted maximum four or five years before it turned itself into a commercial, money-infested parody. But during those early years it was one of the most invigorating and creative moments in Belgium's musical nightlife history. The eclectic blend between 80ies New / Cold Wave, Electronic Body Music and fresh, homemade New Beat tunes was unique and happened only in Belgium. A strange country, indeed....

This mix was made with Antwerp's (in)famous Prestige club in mind. While I always found Prestige's music policy to be a bit on the safe side the place was important to me: it was the first real club I experienced from the inside. It definitely did awake something in me: a fascination for dance music, nightlife, and the intense hunger to be a part of it all.

The selection in this mix is made from a very personal perspective: my imaginary, perfect Prestige. Older (Belgian?) listeners will hear a lot of 'classics', newer listeners can go about and discover. Enjoy.

Rhyw, (also one half of the duo Cassegrain) has made a career from a series of records that represent the very best of modern techno. 
He currently operates two labels - Arcing Seas with Magna Pia, his partner in Cassegrain and Fever AM with Mor Elian and has released EPs on Shifted’s Avian imprint, Tar Hallow as well as appearances on Tbilisi’s Bassiani and Efdemin’s Naïf.
As one of Techno’s more prolific producers, he has used the Rhyw alias to explore more abstract interpretations of both the Techno genre, and the wider dance music spectrum. 
More recently, Tsiridis looked to his musical roots, growing up in the UK for inspiration, with high tensile, deconstructed club music in the form of “Biggest Bully/ Felt” released on Fever AM, and “Lurk Late” on Modeselektor’s Seilscheibenpfeiler (SSPB) label. 
Never ceasing to explore new sounds, Rhyw continues to mine his unique production aesthetic.
