Stephen Medeiros, celebrated for his iconic project Kaminanda, returns to Altar Records with an exquisite new EP under his latest moniker, Mykorhiza. Drawing on nearly two decades of sonic exploration, he delivers a captivating psychill-cinematic journey through four immersive tracks.

The opening piece, "Forest Gateway," gently invites listeners into an enchanting soundscape, lush with textured atmospheres and subtle organic rhythms that evoke the serenity and mystique of a hidden woodland sanctuary. The Rose Temple (Ft Rebecca Elatiki)

End of the Republic uses the words of Abraham Lincoln to produce a dystopian view of the state of the republic.

The music was made using a Soma Enner, a granular synth and two tape decks running at different speeds. It was of course recorded live with the words dubbed afterwards.

For the next episode we present an acidic journey through the familiar, yet unfamiliar realms of the uncanny. A special 2 hour and 42 minute presentation of psychedelia that recalls the dark corners of warehouse parties of a forgotten era, while at the same time, striking to the current core of modern jakbeat aesthetics. Further mind altering experiences are provoked and amplified by a delay pedal that runs its course from beginning to end, while making no apologies for its audible presence. And without further adieu, we present "Demented - Fluids of Acid Adrenaline, Uncontrolled with Endless Effects", a sound painting by, Traxx.

This month we welcome French producer and DJ, @krikorparis, a man that has been recording and releasing unique music since the late '90s.

As a sharp, rough, intuitive producer, Krikor established himself on the scene with aliases including Crackboy and Docteur Satan with his very own sound of many faces, releasing tracks on labels like Tigersushi, L.I.E.S., Editions Gravats and self-releases via Bandcamp.

His music unfolds in diverse directions, writing pop-influenced Electro-Folk as well as producing imaginary film scores, melting ambient, disco and dub spheres with Chicago house and cinematically driven synth grooves. In order to take a deeper look into the Krikor universe, we asked him a few questions about his mix for the EDWIN Music Channel and his recent artistic adventures.

Edwin Mix No. 83 - Krikor

Mix number 48, feelin' great! The first one of 2020.... 

This one is a family affair, E-Talking aka Emmanuel Corre, is our man, and he's been along for the ride for a few years now, he's released music on our label, played at parties with us and generally put up with our shit for a long arse time. You all know he is one half of NUMMER (alongside Silvere - yo!), and you all know that means this mix is 100% pure quality from end to end. A languid affair, all downtempo, spaced out and future leaning, this one's a slow burner for sure, picking up the pace towards the second half where we're fully on the run. 

E-talking is Emmanuel's solo platform to push his style, for non-Nummer related projects. This mix is very referential in that way, it's got odd 90's techno b-sides, breakbeat laden cascading epics and ambient pad washed galactic soundscapes galore. Widescreen, we think, is a good description, like a beach..... but in Bladerunner? Kind of. 

Anyway, there's a super limited E-Talking 'concept' CDR in the works that we'll be putting out very soon. This mix is a sort of taster, a glimpse into the possible sound worlds that we'll all soon be exploring together. Watch the skies.

Our pick up here is Krakow’s Chino who shows us how to balance perfectly between straightforward urgency and mystic playfulness. His acidic Forbidden Voices sports just the right amount of chaos to make you go crazy on the dancefloor.

Amamelia's music combines breaks normally found in Jungle & Drum & Bass with a sugary synthetic pop sensibility.

Outside of Amamelia, Amelia can be found creating ambient soundscapes in caves as Old Chips, playing in queerbo pop-punk band Babyteeth and performing as one half of synth pop duo Fimo. This compilation brings together a variety of approaches of EnDM (electronic non dance music), ranging from ambient, drones, to synthesizer music and even a glimpse of world-music-like sounds.

This is an opportunity for some featuring artists to express a different side of their musical output, while others are exploring these realms more frequently.

Disused Machines is a sub label of Confused Machines, focusing on the playful, experimental, obscure and far out sides of modern electronic music.

The compilation is coming out during a global strange time - the pandemic, global police brutality, black lives matter - and locally for us at Confused Machines home land - a rising wave of protests against a corrupt and collapsing democracy regime and our ongoing struggle against occupation. We wouldn’t like to take the focus away from those important matters, but wish to offer a time-out, and maybe, while exploring new sonic scapes, an option to review these issues from a different angle.
