On Sunday 9 September 2018, the final day of Gaudeamus Muziekweek, we invited composers and musicians from the festival to host their own hour-long live radio show at online radio station Stranded FM. Eva Geist, who was part of the Stranded FM-curated part of Gaudeamus Saturday Night, spend a beautiful hour mixing exotic electronics, cunning grooves and hazey pop - and letting the music speak entirely for itself.

After two years of parties and 40 guest mixes to promote audio sophrology, 90’s reminiscences, psychedelic atmospheres and exotic breaks, the Bamboo Shows are now taking a step forward.
Through the first release of the label, head-honcho Erevan DJ gathered talented friends from his Lyon hometown as well as worldwide producers to spread the Bamboo spirit with 15 exclusive tracks. Featuring renowned RAMZi, Niklas Wandt, Star Searchers’ Spencer Clark and Candomblé’s DJ Ungel & DJ Rasputin and local heroes Eiger Drums Propaganda, Christian Coiffure, Jacques Satre or Lastrack.
Divided in two parts, the “Bamboo Shows Tapes 001” brilliantly blends everything from modern productions to late 20th century inspirations, going around soothing new age, poetic fourth-world music and psychedelic folk on A-Side, while B-Side focuses on more rhythmical materials with slightly-acid transcendental breaks and mystical downtempo. Since making the move over from Toronto to Melbourne, DJ and producer Jennifer Loveless has made an indelible mark on the scene around her. 

As a DJ, she's worked her way across the country, playing a long list of events and festivals including the Australian Discwoman showcase, whilst across the pond in both North America and Asia she's played with collectives like Ambien Baby and Working Women as well as appearing at YinYang festival on the Great Wall Of China.

In February of this year she made her production debut on Andy Garvey's Pure Space imprint with Hard/Soft, a continuous composition split into three parts, that moves through ambient and beats with excerpts of spoken word and poetry written and read by Jenn herself. 

As well as being a powerful force behind the decks and a skilled producer, Jenn's influence stretches to being a voice for the community around her, notably through her early work with Cool Room, a collective and party series with a mission to create a safe space for marginalised communities to dance together. 

She steps up for this week's 'Wednesday Alternative' mix, bringing a dose of different moods and flavours, from introspective, dreamy electronics to  low rumbling rhythms.

We are super happy to have a proper legend with us today.

Nevena Jeremic, one of the most exciting younger DJs to come out of Belgrade in recent years. She is firmly dedicated to rocking the party when she is playing in clubs. However, Nevena has a great, broad taste and adventures musical mind, as you can hear in her recorded mixes. Recently, she moved to Barcelona and she’s starting to make an impact on that scene too. You are going to hear more about this girl in the years to come. We are welcoming Nevena to Mutant Radio.

Esa, who considered as an ambassador of South African music scene in Europe. He is operating from London but he also feels at home in Glasgow’s Sub Club. He is also known for his courses in electronic music that he offered in Cuba, Brazil and all over Africa. His knowledge is deep and his music is exciting and fresh. We feel truly privileged to have this Renaissance man with us.

Filio, a music lover, spinning occasionally. One part of @deeport.djs collective, based in Podgorica, Montenegro. The legend goes that his life changed when he got Roland TR-808 from his aunt in London when he was 8 years old. Since then, he produced only a couple of tracks and heard about 2 million records in search of inspiration.

Tommy is the masters of keys. Over his long career, he worked with an incredible number of legendary artists, including: The Clash, Todd Rundgren, B-52s, Violent Femmes, The Ramones, Tina Turner, Mark Ronson, Dire Straits and Bryan Adams. Jokingly, Tommy describes his personal style as “corporate ambient”. We think that magic is a more fitting description! In this takeover, Tommy is playing piano himself, for your listening pleasure.
