SEARCHING FOR THE SUBLIME

Vienna-based https://soundcloud.com/misonica loves to watch the moon. She's addicted to Italian coffee since the age of six, when her mum made her caffè latte with extra sugar. She traveled the seven continents, only skydiving on her first trip. She's a strong selector sweeping through time and space and pointing towards the future. She played around Europe, and released tunes on Therapy Flowers and Diapason/Sameheads. She was part of Femdex, highlighting female identifying DJs and producers, and had a monthly residency 'Imbroglio' on Noods Radio (Bristol). At the moment she's dreaming very intensely and quite often wakes up crying, but still she loves to sleep.

She starts the mix moody, then gets more sensual and delicate. Halfway she raises the pace and intensity, then ends with the scent of magnolia.

« This musical trip was recorded at MANTA in Lisbon, where I am currently doing a residency. The days are longer and brighter than in my hometown Vienna. The light in this city is unlike at home, it feels and affects me differently. This mix reflects all the emotions and sensations towards the unknown, ease and curiosity towards the peculiarities of a new environment. Light moments threaded into dark and strong ones. »

The concept of the “sublime” in the context of aesthetics and psychology is a fascinating
exploration of how certain experiences and stimuli can evoke intense emotions and
transcendence in individuals. The sublime is often associated with feelings of awe, wonder, and overwhelming greatness, surpassing ordinary experiences and pushing the boundaries of human comprehension.
It possesses a sense of power and might that can evoke both admiration and fear. This power
might be represented in nature’s forces, like a roaring waterfall, or in the skillful execution of art, like a captivating music composition.
It can lead to a sense of transcendence, where one feels connected to something beyond the
individual self, often involving spiritual or metaphysical dimensions.

Every month I ask myself the same question: have I not played this before? Although the music is always different, I tend to be drawn to similar sounds over and over again. Having said that you will never hear the same tracks in any of my mixes. It might've happened once or twice but no more... The challenge is to create something new every time that is influenced by an idea or current mood. To distil and filter these releases, weaving them together unexpectedly so they resonate within each of us through an infinite journey to The Other Side.

Deviant pop music maker, Bulie Jordeaux is highly inspired by minimal wave, post punk and dubby sounds. 
She is obsessed with thick atmospheres, heavy rhythmics and dark sonorities. Her music is a deep dive into bewitching sounds, always keeping a focus on vocals.

For this fifth episode of our lazed mix series, the live performer and producer Bulie Jordeaux brings us an hour of slow experimental punk tunes blended with more modern electronic sounds keeping it dark and moody.
