The hero of our today's program is Violet Poison. He started djing in 1994 but his first gig ever was in 2000. Lately, he started producing a kind of hypnotic techno music under the “Obtane” pseudonym. But he came back to his roots in 2014. He grew up with a wide range of music: synth-pop, Italo and bands like Cocteau Twins. The pseudonyms he uses to make music reflect these genres.   

This mix is exclusively made of seminal proto-industrial and experimental minimal music from obscure 80’s/1990-1991 tapes.

1. Which artists has influenced you the most? 
Liaisons Dangereuses and Trisomie 21 mostly, but I Iove anything that came out from the 80's. Lately I also have been inspired by the International Deejay Gigolos label, artists such Terence Fixmer and The Hacker.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future? 
I got a few collaborations that will come out in the near future, plus the Diana Berti's "The Hand That Seeds Death Part II and III" and new releases on my own label Veleno Viola.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now? 
There's so many good stuff around now. About my favorite labels, I would say Dark Entries, Mannequin Records, Minimal Wave, Frigio Records, She Lost Kontrol, Italomoderni  and more like that.

4. What inspires you now to create music? 
Lately the 80's Japanese synth-pop imagery, apart my deep passion for steampunk/sci-fi/erotic/horror movies from the 80's/early 90's.

5. If it's not a secret, what set-up do you use when creating music?

My setup is still a bit hybrid (hardware synths and some plugins) but recently I started to work hardware-only and the result, in terms of audio quality, it's much more impressive. Basically the synths I use are the Ensoniq ESQ-1, MFB Dominion 1, Yamaha DX7, Korg Poly 800, Octatrack MK1 and some more.

Next up comes from Georgia born, St. Petersburg raised and Berlin based artist, musician and highly talented performer Alexey Volkov. 

Passage begins in the middle and late of nineties when subcultures were pretty strong and different. There was a shop «Пластмасса» (Plastic) on a Petrograd side of St. Petersburg, almost the only place where one could buy records in the city. No internet era, Juno and Hard Wax were unavailable. Records often went through the hands. To exchange Downwards doppelgänger for old audio system was a norm of things. A few stations with programs around of music techno, illegal raves on abandoned territories, pot-bellied cops chasing you and other trash. All in the best traditions for times of origin. 
It so happened that Alexey was a part of it and music interest turned out by itself. First records and PC, then first live performances for crowds and producing. 
After several trips to other countries no let say that Alexey was found Berlin. Rather the opposite, it was that Berlin found Alexey. 
Creation of his own independent, experimental and sometimes extreme sound made an impact to subculture by years of collaborative actions with imprints, platforms and legendary farewell of Jealous God at Kraftwerk Atonal 2016. No senseless business here at all. As for recent moment seeing eye may recognise something to expect but we keep it hided to hold internal energy that drives everything.
This mix contents broad concept that can be interpreted in two main ideas. Acceptance of Self and its Shadow and practice of manifesting of the Will. The only way to lessen shadow's power is to shed as much light of consciousness on it as possible. It governs process of individuation and leads to fullness of personality understood as unity of conscious and unconscious.
Regarding music connection there is a certain set of sound vibrations that affects listener's consciousness. Considering any personality and its shadow-side this relationship can be traced. The question is how exactly a choice is made. What makes listener choose violent music? The aim is to get as close to answer as possible.

The centennial podcast of this series is brought to us by Morah. At some point in his career, the dark prince of Athens and resident of the Phormix label and event series achieved a unique and iconic status with his unconventional take on gritty electronic music that transcends genres. The first time we experienced this in the flesh was in the old Griessmuehle location on the Sonnenallee in 2019 and were blown away.

Whether it was his debut release on Helena Hauff's label, or the many life-changing performances over the years that are well-documented, his body of work speaks for itself as he graces labels such as Berceuse Heroique, Vanila, Brokntoys, Lux Rec, and most recently on Body Musick as well as a self-released album called Zesta. He's captained the Phormix event series as a resident and is a core part of the Athens crew whose label boasts some of the most exciting releases coming out. He's added another time-lasting performance to his list during the most recent DT Camp two weeks ago. It should be no surprise that we invited him as a special guest for our ADE event together with Pinkman Records on October 19th and can't wait 

These are trying times for all with many significant global events taking place almost daily. With this as the backdrop, we hope this series has brought some enjoyment. In her sets, she transmutes dusky electronic experiments, EBM, harsh techno, post-punk, and mutant analog sounds into psychedelic darkness, pain, and excess. As a hardware live act and music producer, with releases on labels such as Kashev Tapes, Oramics or Tales of Psychofonia, and several self-released singles and EPs, she conjures obscure soundscapes on the fringes of post-industrial, body music and noise, inverting realities and perverting desires.
