Who knows me knows that my dog and I walk through the world very often. We love being in the woods as we love the music associated with it, Czech tramp music.
Being labelled as “tramp” is not something the average person would be overly thrilled about. The notion of tramping – or “wandering” as some prefer to call it – may just sound like a regular hiking or camping trip. But I can assure you, it’s not. Czech Tramping music originated in the early 1900s, right after WWI, together with the tramping movement. While tramping was generally apolitical this anti-system movement has profiled itself against Nazism and later also Communism. These songs are the most personal ones to me. About our journey towards the sundown.

Sometimes things don’t work out as they should. I had planned on immortalizing my last gig in Grenoble which was a six hour set. In my mind, this could fill in for some of my next shows as all my records are in storage for a few months. The mix turned out well - or at least the crowd gave that impression, but unfortunately the recording device overloaded. I only managed to salvage the first hour which is a bit distorted (maybe a lot to some)… So here we have it: the intro to a lost marathon.
