🏴 'Dystopian 001' is split release between the sound artists Manja Ristić and Toni Dimitrov, and it is part of the new 'Dystopian series', showcasing a more abstract, darker, obscure and politically infused side of the sound of élan vital artist roster. Inspired by everyday life in the last several years living in realized dystopian visions and darkest predictions, the sound on this series will be the soundtrack for our daily dystopian reality. We are all aware that the future of our civilization is not bright, but that doesn't mean we are not living in an exciting epoch.

🏳️ Part one brings two longer pieces, presenting the dark side of the mystical long form experimentations by the Serbian violin and field recordings diva Manja Ristić and the latest field recordings experiments of the sound art naturalist Toni Dimitrov. Through this joint release the artists are trying to explore the potential for change of the society, resulting in a mature, expressive and complex album.

Manja Ristic - Nothing Has To Happen, Fortress Europe (excerpt)

This is an Extract from the Premiere of my new solo performance "Interdimensional Generated Space", premiered in October 2022 at Panke Culture in Belin, as a part of the series (Von Antennenwäldern und Wellenozeanen) . 

A research-intensive piece focusing on the transcendental phenomenon of the Northern Lights. 
The planned performance uses the implement of self-made recordings from the Northern Lights, in combination with self-made crystal radio, plus light, detectors, and motors, to simulate a technological audio-visual version of Northern Lights in the performance space. “Interdimensional” specifically refers to the movement of energy between modes of perception. One part of this energy come from the composed mixture of “natural cosmic voices”; and another part is coming from the electromagnetic forces generated and captured in real time during the performance. The piece make full use of the contrasts of the invisible processes, to create a new experience of space, time, and human scale. 
This is an attempt to achieve a unique sonic dialogue 
between “Natural” and “Technological” world, a reflection on Nature that is imitated by technology in an anthropogenic age.

Interdimensional Generated Space_ Extract Live Premiere@Panke Culture, Berlin 2022

Blocking Behaviours concerns the real-time interpretation of two simulations of complex behaviour through an agent-based system. The simulations enforce a way of thinking that revolves around balancing behaviours. An attitude that considers musical output as something that emerges from an interaction with an autonomous system.

The simulation acts as a generative, rule-based system producing output that is subject to different kinds of observation algorithms. The idea is that evolving processes are set in motion where the creator/composer becomes an observer of various developments. The output can not always be controlled in detail but is instead interpreted and further processed. The interpretation involves a mapping between different modes of representation in order to simplify or combine. In Blocking Behaviours the idea is to explore the boundary of generative behaviour, control and and direct access to computer sound synthesis.

Blocking Behaviours premiered during the ICLC (International Conference on Live Coding) in April 2023.

The project was presented as a performance and subsequent installation for Sonica Festival 2023.

Roxane Métayer (SHAPE ARTIST) 

Roxane Métayer was born in France in 1992. She learned to play the violin at a young age, and then continued her studies in Belgium, at the Ecole de Recherches Graphiques, where she obtained her Master’s degree, in Speculative Narration, Narratives and Experiments.

She continues her practice as a visual artist and musician, based in Brussels. She has released several albums with the labels Primordial Void, Kraak, Morc, Wabisabi tapes and Vlek with the duo Sage Alyte. She has a few records planned in the coming year with Marionnette Label and Student of Decay. Her latest shows and festival includes Schiev festival, les Ateliers Claus, AB Salon, Beursschouwburg, Atelier 210, Instants Chavirés and Meakusma festival with the duo Sage Alyte…

In this cultural biography from the incendiary and radical poet and thinker Howard Slater (Break/Flow), we speak about far-left culture in Britain since the 1970s and its relationship to politics and poetry. Slater started the legendary Break/Flow zine in the 90s and participated in the Virtual Future conference. In the 2000s, he began the eclectic label Difficult Fun with others. In the early 2010s, he was part of developing MayDay Rooms, a fantastic archive and resource for social movements and marginal cultures based in London. Slater is currently translating Jacques Camatte and working on his poetry. This podcast includes previously unreleased poetry from Slater.
