𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘅
This mix explores weird and experimental drum patterns. I wanted to create a journey through dark and weird rhythms that challenge the usual beat structures and that typically characterise my DJ sets. The drums are always different, sometimes off the beaten path, creating varied dynamics—moments that are upbeat as well as static, trippy moments—giving the entire set a mysterious and intense atmosphere. In my DJ sets, I like to bring together all the music and genres that have influenced and shaped my musical path over time.

𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰?
I was lucky to grow up in a family where music has always been a priority. I’m grateful to my parents for passing down this passion to me. My first approach to music was through acoustic drums—my father is a drummer and my mother took singing lessons. For me, playing drums was a moment of freedom, a way to vent, but also a love-hate relationship. I remember that at some point, I couldn’t express myself the way I wanted or with the people I wanted. 
Over the years, I got closer to the clubs in my area, and my love for the DJ figure was immediate. For several years, I lived in Puglia, my hometown, where I took my first steps as a DJ. Those were beautiful years, full of learning and hard work and research, all to start playing in clubs and illegal parties eheh

𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲?
Right now, I think the music scene in Milan is one of the most prolific and solid in Europe. There are so many high-level artists, each with their own background and unique sound. Moving here was a turning point for me since the beginning, I’ve felt motivated and inspired by all the artists I’ve connected with. I believe growing in an environment where the scene is this strong and innovative is essential for any artist.
That said, one of the biggest issues in the city right now is the lack of spaces to play, perform, and organize parties. Prices are also insanely high, which makes it really hard to access and self-fund events. What we’re doing is a form of resistance..we have a mission, and we need to keep it alive.

We could not imagine a more fitting Podcast Series contribution to soundtrack the peak of our of summer than this lush dubby mix recorded by the New York via Chicago DJ & productress Eden Aurelius 🦋

Back in April last year, the inaugural record on the Glaswegian label co:clear lands in the crates at Phonica Records and it steals the show. It was the debut release by Eden Aurelius titled ‘Plateau’ with it’s soft-edged downtempo take on dub techno dancing through clouds of ambient textures and perfectly embodying that netherworld in between ambient and dance music that is the beating heart of Introspective Electronics. Over a year later, we are so grateful and proud to have Eden feature on our Podcast Series with this stunning hour-long recording 💕

Nothing else to do now but to plunge into the dubwise depths of this magick mix where tender energy ebbs and flows in the spaces between not-quite-ambient and not-quite dance. It’s in the liminal space of the soft cracks in between. Aren’t you curious to hear? ✨

This month, Constructive presents mixes by London’s DJ ojo and Tokyo’s DJ Trystero,  artist whose remixes will be released by the label in the coming months.

 DJ ojo who has released music for the ‘trademark nether zone system’ on Blank Mind, Tongue Tied and Oneiric  and has been described by Boomkat as making music 'ripe for early club hours and later sprawled on the rug.’

An enigmatic operator from the fogged-out fringes of techno, DJ Trystero has quickly impressed with a brief slew of releases for Incienso and The Trilogy Tapes. His reductionist style narrates bygone eras in abstracted flow, a singular sound cultivated with an assured touch. He also runs the cult City-St. Giga label out of Tokyo.
