“Trippy vocals and textures, drums fetishism, classy bass-driven sets.”
The French, Berlin-based DJ’s genre-defying sets are a hypnotic blend of tradition and
futurism, weaving psychedelic layers of traditional music, free jazz, noise, dub, footwork,
and breakcore. She has been lauded for her ability to captivate audiences with fearless
experimentation and the ability to jump seamlessly between bpms and genres.
Morphine Records,YOUTH &amp; Ominira affiliate, Marylou has graced stages at Atonal,
Intonal, CTM, and Berghain, and opened for boundary-pushing acts like Senyawa, Actress,
and Valentina Magaletti. Her fans include esteemed figures such as Donato Dozzy, Rabih
Beaini, DJ Marcelle, Lena Willikens, and more, drawn to her unique sonic narratives that
evoke her background in painting, cinema, and soundsystem culture. From organizing
Parisian parties to advising in studios and becoming a Rinse France resident, Marylou’s
journey has shaped her into a trailblazing artist. Now based in Berlin and a part of this
year’s SHAPE+ roster, she’s integral to Morphine Raum’s community, crafting mixes
steeped in cinematic, improvisational, and noisy explorations while keeping dance at her
heart.
Marylou is an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art,
co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia.

For my new show, I will be diving in a shoreless sonic continuum. 
Once every two months I&amp#39;ll be on my own, trying to draw connections between genres, eras, intentions, or even feelings, to emphasize what appears to me as logical relations between sounds. From &ampquot;Gorillaz-type beats&ampquot; to Torchouze Disco, I&amp#39;ll try to suggest a sensitive approach to mixing.
Every other months, I will be joined by friends and foes from around the continuum, to get their perspective on how they approach and deal with their own sensitive listening.


Shoreless Continuum w/ Seul Ensemble (14/03/25)

This piece, based on several field recordings has been requested, by the Cercle des Amitiés Créoles de la Creuse. The theme was Banks and Shores. It has been designed to be listened with headphones during an exhibition.

Cette pièce, basée sur plusieurs enregistrements de terrain, a été demandée par le Cercle des Amitiés Créoles de la Creuse sur le thème de Berges et des Rivages. Elle a été conçue pour être écoutée au casque pendant un évènement public organisée par l'association du 4 au 10 mai 2025.

Magnetic Clouds

In honor of the late great Mika Vanio, I present this recording I made of the show they played at Coney Island High on St Marks Place on October 30th 1998. It was incredibly intense, late in the set Alan vega jumps on stage and freaks on the mic like only he could. He was so amped he tripped over a cord and unplugged all of the gear in one fell swoop!! ( that's what the drop in music is)

Recorded on the legendary Sony MZ-R30 Mini-Disc Recorder using a sweet Sony condenser mic ( can't remember the model). It all sounds great and the MD and mic handle the heavy parts beautifully!

Transferred to CD using a direct to disc Harmon Kardon CDR 2 recorder into a Carver CT Seven Pre Amp using Sonic Holography circuit to beef up the soundstage

Tomoko Sauvage, Japanese musician and artist active since mid 2000’s, investigates the sculpturality of sound and improvisation in relation to the environment. Mainly known for a musical / visual research about ‘natural synthesizer’ of her invention, composed with diverse fluid, bowls, ceramic, light and underwater amplification, Sauvage’s approach is attached to questions of alchemy, meditation and balance between hazard and mastery.

I grew up with American-influenced Japanese pop music and classical piano training. Akiko Yano greatly influenced me to cultivate my passion for jazz. Also Tokyo in the 90's was multicultural and I was listening a lot to soul, funk, brazilian and "world" music… When I moved to Paris after studying jazz piano in New York, I started to study Indian music (Paris has some Indian musicians via Pondicherry). Through Alice Coltrane and Terry Riley, I became interested in Indian music and that lead to the birth of my electro-aquatic waterbowls instrument. When I played my instrument using water drops in Japan, people said that it sounded like suikinkutsu - a traditional sound decoration system in Japanese tea garden - ceramic vase buried under the fountain. It's like I made a round the world tour to find my own roots. 

I loved the coincidence that made this playlist filled with singing birds - either accidentally recorded ones, synthesizers sounding like them or sampled sounds of a domestic bird (named Cagesan). Also Mahalingam's flute is my favorite bird mimicry...
