SPACEDUST selection #19 is a playground of sounds featuring new wave, electronic, disco, synth-pop and everything in between. Trenton manoeuvres his way through 80 minutes of juggles and cuts, utilizing record doubles and energetic EQ tweaks to add spice to a boldly flavoured stew of hearty aural goodness inspired by the selections of legendary Chicago radio mavericks like “WBMX Hotmix 5”

But... who is he?

Trenton Odeneal is 1/5 of ‘Soul in The Hole Productions’ – the 80’s DJ crew originating from Chicago. Other members of SITH’s five-strong team include Sadar Bahar, Richard Waddington, Lee Collins, and Steve Mathis.

Back in the 70’s, Trenton’s musical journey began with his father's 45 record collection, and evolved into a love for the sounds of the Chicago dance scene. Trenton’s enthusiasm grew with regular visits to the esteemed ‘Music Box’ Club to get his fix from the likes of Ron Hardy. After years of collecting tapes and listening to WBMX radio, he was introduced to a certain Sadar Bahar through his cousin who at the time was already spinning multiple parties. The two hit it off immediately. Trenton quotes “He’s my cousins’ homie and a cool bro. He could beat the shit outta some music...he would dub his mixtapes for me, all of them banging” 

Years passed.

Moving forward to Trenton’s return from RAF service in 1993, the time had come for his first public DJ appearance. The SITH crew asked him to fill a slot and relieve Lee Collins of his DJ duties at a house party. Trenton recalls Lee’s last record with a smile. Patti LaBelle – The Spirit In it. He knew he had to relay the set with something of equal calibre to keep the momentum on the up. With heads going wild on the DF, Trenton dropped King Crimson – Sheltering Sky. Safe to say he delivered and things naturally progressed. 

Trenton is a ridiculously good DJ who we feel deserves to be heard. Also, If you dig the 3 Chairs collective, You will love Soul In The Hole Family Output
