Landing all good digital stores on 2nd February is the new single from John Dahlback, who has teamed up with fellow Swede Albin Myers on ‘Breaking Your Locks.’ The pair, who has previously worked together under the catchy artist name “Myback” for this single, is to release the track on Dahlback’s Mutants Records. 

It takes on a quirky theme upon introduction, with funky house style vocal snatches and a toe-tapping beat. Vocals suddenly swoop into action, their clarity adding some emotive texture to the growing beat below. Rising and falling in all the right places, it features stunning vocals from Olivera and sees both producers venturing into previously unexplored territories. 

Dahlback himself says of ‘Breaking Your Locks’, “Myback was something Albin Myers and I created a while back, a project just for fun. It’s now been a few years since we did music together, so we decided to try it again. ‘Breaking Your Locks’ is our first track since then, and it’s a completely new style for Albin and I. We are both very eager for this one!” 

With the single set to turn plenty of heads this month, perhaps Albin Myers sums up the collaboration the best: “Do you remember house? Myback does.”

Lined up for release on 23rd March is the glorious new single ‘Bring Me All’ from Swedish producer and DJ David Vrong, who has once again been snapped up by Mutants Records. Marking the 50th release from the stellar platform, this track is a sign of the continued level of class from the label and its associated artists. 

Opening with a quirky use of chopped vocals from Olivera, the melody takes a sweeter turn as a catchy, clap along house beat is instated. Suddenly a funky, gnarly drop switches things up in superb Vrong style, before another uplifting breakdown lands, backed by old school rave-style piano chords. 

A real mixture of sounds and styles – David Vrong is able to inject untold amounts of personality into his work and ‘Bring Me All’ is a great example of this.

We released a new song from the exhibition every week for a month. After the fourth release, we organized an art and music exhibition in the heart of Stockholm as a charity event to the refugee crisis. Together we raised 2.500 EUR.

Mutants takes a rare trip to England’s great North East...

Ask anyone about Newcastle and, odds-on, the football team (or soccer for our American cousins), Ant & Dec, Cheryl Cole, Gazza, Geordie Shore and T-shirts in winter are the first things out of their mouths. Fair to say, unlike London, Manchester or Liverpool, the North East metropolis isn’t synonymous with electronic music. And you really have to ask yourself why because it’s provided some of Britain’s finest purveyors of dance; be it the legendary Global Underground, Shindig, The Middlesborough Empire, Tall Trees or Digital (the current jewel in Newcastle’s clubbing crown), the region has a dancefloor history anyone would be proud of. Pleasingly, this rich heritage isn’t destined to become a footnote in history as it’s now bearing fruit, spawning a new generation of typically passionate sons and daughters eager to keep the flag flying.

Felix Leiter is undoubtedly one such son; his love for the scene is boundless. In recent years he’s established himself as one of the rare breed who can claim to be a true all-rounder of producer, DJ AND promoter, which he openly admits is a direct influence of his clubbing past, “Growing-up in the region was ace. My mates and I were out every weekend. We were never short of options and that fun-loving Newcastle spirit always guaranteed a top night!” And the influence of this local spirit also carries through to be heard in his latest offering, ‘Feel The Panic’. Alongside fellow Geordie, Marrs TV - aka Adam Burn - they’ve created an energetic, euphoric tune that’s under-pinned with a hard, determined edge; the sort of track that would go out on a winter’s Saturday in nothing but a T-shirt! “We’ve both been big fans of John Dahlback”, explains Marrs TV Adam, “He always seems to capture a really tough, dirty sound that was a big influence and consideration whilst we were producing ‘Feel The Panic’.”

So, little wonder JD snapped the tune up for Mutants and deigned to create his own edit, which also marks his first appearance back on the label in a year. Happy days all round then, Geordie-styles!
