We’ve recently spoken at length about how Mutants is developing it’s own musical family. As a label it has, over the past eighteen months, continued to support and develop some of the most exciting artists in the world.

Now the label takes things to the next stage.

Marking a unique first, head honcho John Dahlback (fresh from the debut Mutants Pre-sents… last year) steps to one side to offer the ultimate platform to Scandinavia’s Lunde Bros: a mix compilation.

But hang on!

This is no ordinary compilation. In a move of sublime creativity the brothers have set about providing no less than 6 original tracks and remixes of their own material, which cleverly blurs the line between compilation and artist album. “Opportunities like this don’t come along all that often,” they explain, “So we really wanted to seize the moment and 
provide fans and listeners an element of unique originality. There’s so many tools to 
digitally mix music, not to mention platforms to present or distribute it on, we really felt it 
important we set the album apart from the crowd.”

“I couldn’t think of anyone better to hand the ‘Mutants Presents…’ series over to,” 
furthers label head John Dahlback, “When you invite people to take on a compilation pro-ject you’re involvement kinda ends there; the level of creativity and overall sound is a re-flection of them so you have to step back and let the artist(s) do their thing. In this 
instance just reading the tracklist alone demonstrates how much effort the Lunde Bros put into the project. I couldn’t be prouder of this second instalment. ‘Presents…’ is going to be an ongoing series and the brothers have undoubtedly set the bar very high!”

Just as with John’s debut offering the compilation will come as unmixed (yep, that includes all those exclusives), plus the mixed version itself. Bargainous!

Landing all good digital stores on 2nd February is the new single from John Dahlback, who has teamed up with fellow Swede Albin Myers on ‘Breaking Your Locks.’ The pair, who has previously worked together under the catchy artist name “Myback” for this single, is to release the track on Dahlback’s Mutants Records. 

It takes on a quirky theme upon introduction, with funky house style vocal snatches and a toe-tapping beat. Vocals suddenly swoop into action, their clarity adding some emotive texture to the growing beat below. Rising and falling in all the right places, it features stunning vocals from Olivera and sees both producers venturing into previously unexplored territories. 

Dahlback himself says of ‘Breaking Your Locks’, “Myback was something Albin Myers and I created a while back, a project just for fun. It’s now been a few years since we did music together, so we decided to try it again. ‘Breaking Your Locks’ is our first track since then, and it’s a completely new style for Albin and I. We are both very eager for this one!” 

With the single set to turn plenty of heads this month, perhaps Albin Myers sums up the collaboration the best: “Do you remember house? Myback does.”

Lined up for release on 23rd March is the glorious new single ‘Bring Me All’ from Swedish producer and DJ David Vrong, who has once again been snapped up by Mutants Records. Marking the 50th release from the stellar platform, this track is a sign of the continued level of class from the label and its associated artists. 

Opening with a quirky use of chopped vocals from Olivera, the melody takes a sweeter turn as a catchy, clap along house beat is instated. Suddenly a funky, gnarly drop switches things up in superb Vrong style, before another uplifting breakdown lands, backed by old school rave-style piano chords. 

A real mixture of sounds and styles – David Vrong is able to inject untold amounts of personality into his work and ‘Bring Me All’ is a great example of this.

In a perspective where the earth is round, and the population is your neighbor, your friend, and your responsibility to care. Only through reflection on the past can one project the future and change with it.

We released a new song from the exhibition every week for a month. After the fourth release, we organized an art and music exhibition in the heart of Stockholm as a charity event to the refugee crisis. Together we raised 2.500 EUR.
