Animal Farm is inspired by local social movement based on the text from the most significant work by George Orwell. Orwell’s Animal Farm reflects the the events leading up to the Russian revolution and the Stalinist era followed. The two movements composed I. Comrades. What is the nature of & II. The Seven Commandments bear two ideas relating to contemporary events in Hong Kong. The first movement has itself explained by the text “What is the nature of this life of ours? Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short.” while the second movement take the idea of Napolean the pig (a character based on communist leaders), setting up the seven commandments, and decided to modify it afterwards to suit their own interest."

With the help of technology, performing a musical piece is no longer privilege of trained musicians. In First Étude, Olivia performed the piece by executing her everyday morning routine-- coffee grinding and brewing, on her new musical instrument, the coffee hand grinder.
Commissioned by The Kunsthalle for Music, a new institute co-founded by Spring Workshop and Ari Benjamin Meyers. The project imagines a space for music that is beyond the stage and within the space of contemporary art. [ kunsthalleformusic.org ]

First Étude

This piece is a vent of my feelings towards the owner of the voice. When you start caring less about the content of the words, you realise the hilarity of his voice.
