Baby Said To Me

After brilliant releases on imprints like Wolf Music or Coastal Haze and recently getting remixed by the Italo-House legend Don Carlos, we are happy to have the duo on the label with their"Down 2 Dance“ EP. Originally from New Zealand but now living in London, Manuel Darquart bless us with a record full of balearic bliss, backed with a dope remix by Tech Support.

We are kicking things off with the title track, a deep, yet uplifting Italo-House tune:"Down 2 Dance“ is full of sweet chords, perfectly cheesy sax stabs and this catchy vocal cuts we just can’t get out of our head. On „Cultivating Yucca“ Manuel Darquart maintains the Italian vibe but gets even more balearic with warm pads, some muted trumpets and of course: The slight sound of the ocean.

On the flip things get interesting with "Prince Of The Rinse“: Distorted 808s paired with a funky lead that builds up steadily and finally dissolves into a wonderful synth solo. A tune that reminds of the early Funkineven on Apron Records. To round this record off, we invited Londons finest Tech Support to give the title track his remix treatment: He added his signature 80s sound to the original and perfecftly stripped back the tune to its essentials, with gated snare drums and little synth blips. What more can you ask for?!

PREMIERE : Manuel Darquart - Prince Of The Rinse

Carlos Passini is one of the - many - Brazilian enigmas. While not massively popular, for a while he was the guru of choice of famous artists and became well known for his powerful hug. Yes... if Carlos put his arms around you, things could change. This was the 90s and for a while, Carlos was riding the wave.

Apart from the spiritual side of his life, Carlos is also a musician, in fact, seems that he now lives in New York as a professional one. Before their fame as a guru, he recorded in the late '80s a deep cut called "Sol Nascente" an album exploring some themes later developed in his enlightenment days. A bit gospel, a bit uplifting, and full of messages, this record is another gem from the diverse catalog of Eldorado's record label.

As the duo, JJ once said: "If you get a hug / Guess what drug / I'm on?". In a fitting tribute to the master Passini, Kauan Marco perversely relocated the hugs to the club, and the result is ecstatic: gentle guitars, propulsive beats, on-point percussion, and obviously Carlos!

Marco is one of the best producers of our generation and with this release he proves his versatility. A master of recontextualization of voices, Kauan is always willing to put a message on his tracks that are designed for the floor.

Next time that you see him at a party, give him a hug.

Carlos Passini é um dos muitos enigmas brasileiros. Embora muito popular, por um tempo ele foi o guru da temporada de alguns por famosos e tornou-se conhecido por seu abraço que poderoso. Sim: se Carlos colocasse os braços em volta de você, as coisas poderiam mudar. Estes eram os anos 90 e por um tempo, Carlos surfou nesta onda.

Além do lado spiritual, Carlos também é músico, segundo relatos ele vive em Nova York como professional deste ramo. Antes de sua fama como guru, no final dos anos 80 ele gravou um clássico obscuro chamado "Sol Nascente", um álbum que explora alguns temas desenvolvidos com mais afinco em sua jornada de iluminação. Finally! After years of releases on some of the most important labels in electronic music, DFA's Juan Maclean makes his debut on Correspondant with his glorious Manthony EP.

Four slabs of thumping cosmic disco; all modulating basslines and heavy chug dynamics, Juan is a man of many styles but it's clear he's tailored these especially for Jennifer Cardini's label. The primordial acidic soup of opener 'Manthony', the cloud-bouncing dreaminess of 'Bufomania', the tense bewitching adventure of 'She's Breaking Up' (with the purring cat-like vocals of Fantastic Twins) and the creepy, ever-mutating pranged out finale 'In A Minute'.

As an artist who states that DJing is "literally my favourite thing in life", Juan Maclean has once again delivered a collection of transcendent dancefloor moments for both DJs and Dancers alike.

Sleep brought with it much needed respite, an escape from his thoughts and emotions. Of late, his dreams had become much more vivid, rife with strange exchanges and far-fetched situations that left a stamp on his waking hours. Amongst the warped and familiar faces he felt both bliss and terror, yet at times he still wished he could stay in this imagined reality.

Danish producer Kasper Bjørke takes a personal approach when it comes to remixes, focusing on enlisting artists who will transform his music into something original and bring their own distinct flavour. His next batch of remixes comes in a two part package, bringing together several artists to put their own spin on his double EP Nothing Gold Can Stay. Part B rallies the likes of Bawrut, Cooper Saver, Panthera Krause, Kasper Marrott and our pick from DFA affiliate Perel.

Durrty Goodz pays tribute to his friend and collaborator TY (Ben Chijioke) in the heartfelt song ‘The Real Ones’, featuring cuts by Shortee Blitz.

TY was a foundation pillar of the UK Hip Hop scene, inspiring myriad artists. Whilst many knew TY for his lyrical ability, few are aware of his production skills, developed alongside longtime collaborator Drew Horley.

It was for that very reason Goodz decided to highlight the fact by using the instrumental version of TY’s own song ‘Me’, taken from his 2010 BBE album ‘Special Kind of Fool’.

Durrty Goodz is a highly respected grime MC, rapper and activist from London, active in the scene since 2003. Under his ‘OG Roots’ alias, he collaborated with on 2018 track ‘Eyes Open’, which was featured on TY’s final album ‘Work Of Heart’.
