Paulina Rodriguez aka Paurro is what dance club cats consider a real DJ. She has built a reputation for pumping House music ecstasy and complete body workout on the dance floors of New York City, her hometown Mexico City, and the new shores she’s been heading to, expanding her rhythmical generosity down south up north, east, and west around the globe. 

A luminous spheroid of plasma held together by her own gravity - she glows in disco darkness enhanced by smoke machines and strobes - Paurro, as we speak, has become an integral and essential part of not only Ciudad de México’s, but house lover’s night life - or as Franklin Fuentes put it: “It’s hot in here, it’s wet in here, it’s dark in here, I like it here!”

After a few releases including her fantastic remix of “Nuestra Forma” by DJs Pareja and Lupe, Cómeme is proud to present her very first appearance on the label:

5 dirty House bangers, driven by sharp breakbeats, acidic-straight-in-your-face-synth-madness, rolling and wall shaking (sub) bass lines and laser sharp strings.
Paurro’s “Galavision” is full of floor fillers, lush psychedelia, basement jams and peak time jacking craze for those who know and those who wanna learn. 

The release also includes a remix (of the track “They’re here!”) by no other than “The Don” aka Matias Aguayo, presenting a more stripped down version, lovingly dedicated to the vibes both DJs achieve to create when playing together in already legendary appearances at the shores of the Pacific Ocean and the CDMX’s nasty City Centre. “Galavision” Is only the beginning. Prepare for much more music from Paurro, soon to be heard in the ever-growing discography of Latin America’s most essential Dance Label, the crates of your favorite DJs, and your local dance floor.

They're Here! (Original Mix)

Produced in the depths of quarantine and finally slated for release, Majorettes’ new single “The Waves”. Born from a journey inspired a documentary on the art of sampling, the track was an ongoing project which became a lifeline for Majorettes throughout the long days of the pandemic in the absence of playing out and organizing parties which are so core to the group and the wider Brooklyn house scene they are figureheads of. 

Enlisting three rising peers and producers to rework their original, the trio have curated a stellar EP package to soundtrack fall 2022 and beyond, with some of the most exciting and ones to watch talents in the international underground house scene hailing from Mexico, Colombia and Brooklyn respectively. 

Por Detroit resident and Mexico City upstart Kodemul, delivers a body shaking, exhilarating rework pumped full of energy, rhythmic swirls and fills, and a spell-binding breakdown worthy of any dance floor. “We were blown away by Kodemul’s style and production from the moment we met and many of his tracks have become staples in our sets recently so it was only fitting that we got him on board for this project”. 

Colombian artist, producer, and DJ, ELO, also know as Leeon, is an integral part of Medellín’s dance scene as well as the American underground at large. His rave brake with such grace that it feels extremely fresh and like an old friend at the same time. “While hanging out in the field at Glasontbury’s Block9 this past summer nerding out over each others new productions we knew it would be perfect to have him bring his impeccable style to “The Waves”. 

Brooklyn-based artist PH Balanced takes “The Waves” into an ethereal realm with bubbling vocal effects, pungent pads, and plenty of twists and turns that are smooth, sexy and surprising all at once. “Everyone always ask to hear the PH Balanced remix over and over, you just don’t want it to end. He has such a unique presence in our scene here as both a dj and producer and we can’t wait for the world to soak up his brilliance”.

Galavision
Paurro lives with three bitches (female dogs). One of them is called Gala and she’s black from head to toe. In dreams she’s a raver that takes different shapes on the floor as “Techno Gala”, or in drag as “Galaxia”. In these visions, a friend of Paurro baptised her with the name: “Galavisión” - that night when she played for the first time alongside Matías Aguayo in Zipolite. This random memory of a perfect night gave name to this EP, which is 100% inspired in Gala: an aerodynamic monster full of joy!

Rave Soup
This soup (or are we talking about a stew?) includes all essential elements for the much-missed rave experience! Its fundamental ingredient is a stir - fried bass line, to which finely chopped breakbeats are added, plus braising kicks, hi hats and snare drums until golden and crispy - then finally adding a gallon of ambient broth - and letting the soup on the hot stove to boil constantly at the perfect temperature until ready with the next mix.

About the track:
Rayne’s psychedelic dancefloor workout “Turkish Drama” slips effortlessly between temporalities and geographies. Inspired by Turkish Yeşilçam films, where sudden and unexpected dramatic shifts were not only welcome but a cornerstone of the genre, “Turkish drama” moves abruptly from splintered percussion and serpentine acid toplines into shimmering violins and kanun (a traditional zither) sampled from an obscurist Turkish classical record in rayne’s own collection. Recontextualised atop ruffneck breakbeats, theatrical string stabs point as much to Anatolian traditional music as they do bubbly UK Garage, delving into deep sonic undercurrents running through Istanbul, Berlin and London, with rayne amping up the intensity with each unexpected shift.

Rhizome releases the compilation album Hypersea inspired by hydro feminism and becoming a body of water.

The Copenhagen/Berlin based label Rhizome releases a compilation album inspired by the writer Astrida Neimanis. On the album you’ll be presented to a wide range of the Copenhagen underground from artists such as Messell to Varnrable.

Friday September 1st 2023 Rhizome releases and celebrates the compilation album Hypersea. The compilation album takes its point of departure with the text ‘Hydrofeminism - Or, On Becoming a Body of Water’ by Astrida Neimanis and contains 18 tracks from the Copenhagen underground scene apart from a track from New York namely Laenz who earlier this year released a double single on the label. In each way the artists have interpreted the text by Neimanis and worked with its topics such as water, fluid borders and feminism.

Alto Aria about the album: “With the current threat of a watering ban in Denmark, increasing pollution and lack of water all over the world, we zoom in on water with this album. We wish to follow Neimanis’ thread about water and feminism – she teaches us that we and our identity, like the fluid borders of the oceans, always are negotiable and never fixed. With the compilation we celebrate water and its essential role in our lives. Whether it is through the lens of clean drinking water, an identity in flux, dying fish, the western pollution level or something completely different, we wish this album to be a reflection over and a get together around what we all depend on.”

The album has become a sonic collage of a watery quest, fast footsteps, shifting and fragmented choir pieces, broken beats and hearts, soothing synthesisers, harsh wind, caring bodies, uplifting beats, polyphonic saxophones and long reverbs. Hypersea is curated by Alto Aria and presents works by Hôy la, ilinx, Saltmother, Julia Becker, ill, Angel Wei, Lyra Valenza, Faber, Jason Lee, Bysund, Holger Seidelin, Astrid Nørgaard, KRY, Laenz, Varnrable, Messell, Skarv and Alto Aria.

Rhizome is a Copenhagen/Berlin based label started in 2020 by Aria Leth Schütze and Mads Krue Bugge. The primary focus of the label is experimental electronic music and alternative release formats. Rhizome has released music by artists such as Alto Aria, Skarv, Swell, Polly, Nemo, ioulus, Laenz, Ida Urd, and ill as well as the compilation album bag/belly/box.
