After a little break, the mix series "Music for Theatre Lobbies" returns for the season 22/23. The newest contribution is by Berlin-based composer and sound-designer Grand River. The artist makes experimental electronic music with a cinematic touch. Her work, influenced by minimalism and ambient music, is atmospheric yet rhythmically complex, incorporating a wide range of contemporary compositional and production techniques.

This is a tribute mix to one of the most talented, kind, and lovely people I know. I have been a fan of Norm's work since I first became interested in "ambient" music, falling in love with the Pavilion LP the moment I heard it. His music has given me so much joy, solace, and inspiration ever since. 
His passing has left a giant hole inside me and for the past two days I haven't done much else other than listen to his music. This mix features some (but not all) of my favorite pieces by Norm.
I never had the pleasure to meet Norm in person, but it was an honor to work with him on several occasions at Muzan.
Norm, wherever you are - perhaps floating on some galactic current in a space-faring bathysphere - I miss you so much. Thank you for everything.

"We made the mix in a manner of a chess game, taking turns in appending tracks to it, sending to each other the new versions which end with our new "moves". An interesting game, as neither of us knows in advance what the other would throw into the mix. Every time, receiving the updated version of the mix, one has to "deal" with what arrives and find the way to continue. If you take myth and folklore, and these things that speak in symbols, they can be interpreted in so many ways that although the actual image is clear enough, the interpretation is infinitely blurred, a sort of enormous rainbow of every possible colour you could imagine.

Campfire Stories is a mix series by friends of Silent Season. The focus of the series is on storytelling through deeper electronic music. Artists weave together narratives using the emotional characteristics of ambient and techno music.
