6. Alone (From Cinematic)

I was toying with a trailer score for an independent horror movie and this is what I came up with. It's perhaps hard to listen to as a piece of 'music' due to the harsh dynamic changes and excessive use of sound design, but I wanted to demonstrate these qualities independent from the picture. Trailers are a great way of balancing the loud and the quiet.

The title of this cue is taken by joining texts by Lars Von Trier in his movie "Antichrist" and Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'

Fragments… It was awesome to get back in the chair to compose the score and we adapted great working to get this completed during the COVID-19 lockdown! I hosted daily 3-5 hours private live streams in which Andrea could be with me in the session for guidance and spotting, it was just like having him in the same room in some ways!

Michael W. Bell is an award-winning composer, sound designer, and spatial audio researcher whose work spans film, immersive installation, and recorded media. He is the founder of Bell Creative Labs LLC and its label division Aurora Eclipse Productions, through which he releases original cinematic and esoteric sound works.

Beyond composition, Michael lectures in music production at the University of Northampton, sharing his industry experience with the next generation of producers and composers.
