This song started its life as a poem I wrote in 1996. Producer Jon Buckley took reigns of the composition and arrangement around 2014 and struggled to get me to sing it, as I was quite sure I wouldn't be able to deliver the goods. However, after much coaxing and patience, we nailed the final take in April 2015. 

Suicide Suburbs

Taken from a once off performance in Johannesburg, 28th April 2015. This rendition of Nirvana's 'Heart shaped box' features the tune followed by some improvisation. The guitar melody mimics Kurt Cobain's vocal style, bending and shaping phrases in memory.

Leila Waddell - Thelema: A Tone Testament

I am a South African musician. Instead of confining myself to one genre, I tend to play around with several at a time. I’m a member of a couple of bands at the time of writing this and have been a member of several bands over the years. I started my music career in a Gothic rock band and then made my way into a Funk band. I then did some sessions – theater shows and that sort of thing – and now, I play bass for a punk band and various instruments in a pop/rock sort of band. When I am not playing in those bands or repairing instruments, I am whiling away the hours performing and recording my own tunes, examples of which I am publishing here for you to listen to. 

I work from my room in Linden in my very modest home studio. Although I can’t really legitimately indicate what styles of music you are likely to hear when you click on the play button, I can tell you that they are likely to feature guitars, bass, violin, cello, glockenspiel, synthesizers and all that sort of thing.
