uhen represents the city of Malbork from the northern part of Poland. Although, as he says himself, he has been associated with widely understood electronic music from an early age, he started his adventure with mixing only two years ago. His style fits well with the current trends - fast and energetic songs are intertwined with the classics of techno and hard techno. Despite a short period of experience behind the console, he has already made several appearances in Gdańsk Protokultura, and is also responsible for his original series of podcasts "Driving Topic".

RETHE - an artist from Wrocław who recently joined the ranks of Transformator's residents.

Since 2016, Rethe has been active on the Polish electronic music scene not only as a DJ, but also as a live performer. You could hear Piotr in places such as: Praga Centrum, Schron, Cel in Poland or Berlin's Anomalie, where he shared decks with British Rene Wise, Pfirter, Norbak or Conceptual.

He is now 100% dedicated to his musical career and further development, both in terms of production and live performances. After hours, he organizes individual classes and workshops on Ableton operation, music production and DJing. His sets consist mainly of his own productions, in which subtle and mesmerizing motifs are carried by a wild, almost tribal groove. He is also not afraid of experimenting with other electronic genres, often surprising listeners with breakbeat electro, British dubstep, and even DnB or jungle.

Mchy i Porosty/Bartosz Zaskórski records broken electronic music (often dance music). He has released albums and EPs for such publishers as Recognition, Brutaż, Transatlantyk, Pointless Geometry, the cult Not Not Fun from Los Angeles, as well as a song for the game Cyberpunk 2077. His latest materials are a dance split EP with German Dogpatrol released by Syntetyk, and dunegon synth soundtrack to Bartosz's first comic, "Postapoland" (collaboration of Italian Hollow Press and Heimat der Katastrophe). Currently, he is preparing an album with Wiktor Stribog (Kraina Grzybów), which will be released in 2022. Zaskórski also draws, as a cartoonist he collaborated with FOQL, Natural Sciences, Forbidden Planet. He is currently working on a computer game, HUM.

BIO:
Wroclaw-born producer, live performer and DJ. Resident at Transformator, often invited to other clubs at his home city. Constantly evolving, his production and performance skills are slowly but surely gaining attention of promoters in Poland, as well as internationally. Co-founder of Calosc collective along with Mislaw, Hekato and Markovitz. Currently 100% dedicated to his music career, whether it is improving his own skillset or inspiring others through workshops and individual tutoring. His sets and live performances represent a wide variety of sounds, as do his productions where unpredictability and complexity are the key themes. Despite this diversity there are certainly some trademarks to his sound, such as: driving, tribal groove, complex rhythm patterns and simple yet soulful melodies. Late December 2020, he unveiled his first self-released EP, "Trust the Process", a deeply personal amalgamation of his influences and experiences as a human being.

Several days ago the demons of war awoke. We thought we had come to live in peaceful times. Locked in our own bubbles. Focused on the pursuit of an idealized world full of consumption and entertainment. But something broke. A bestial attack on Ukrainian civilians took place next to us. We realized then that not everything we know is given to us forever. Therefore, with modest means, we want to make a contribution to help the victims of war, who are mainly women and children.

We have decided to invite artists whom we value for their artistic work to participate in the compilation. The total income from sales will be donated to Polska Akcja Humanitarna (PAH).

Grauzone Podcast 026 – Rethe

Rethe is a DJ, producer and live performer from Wrocław, specializing in groovy and textured techno music. This young, though experienced artist is a frequent guest in the leading Polish clubs, he is also increasingly recognized on the international scene. Co-founder of CAŁOŚĆ label and collective, he is also involved in the development of Wrocław's club scene, training many of the local DJs and producers, and balances work in the studio and live performances by conducting DJing and production classes, workshops and courses.
In his sets, he likes to be unpredictable, often combining extremely different genres and styles. He finds himself both in soothing, ambient sounds, melodic house music and rushing techno. In his productions, he combines space and lightness with a powerful sound, tailored to the club sound system, often weaving in live drums and self-recorded samples.
His work was released, among others, in Berlin-based ARTS, as well as in many Polish labels.

Techno, Art, and Technology. 


I've been involved in Techno since early 1993, and spent a lot of time between 92' and 01' driving from Boston to NYC (and back) chasing a specific sound, and as it turned out was able to be a part of some pretty memorable Techno events. Many warehouse parties hosted by Sonic Groove, Mental Unity / Electronik Underground, and others throughout those decades. 

After 2001 the Techno scene pretty much collapsed for a few years in NYC, due to issues related to the Sept 11th attacks, such as artists having issues obtaining a US visas, the world economy, pointless wars, and a collectively paranoid government. Boston (my home) never really had a well established Techno scene before 2012 or so. But Manchester N.H. sure did, between 1993 and 2001. Thanks to N.E.A.U. ("New England Acid Underground", circa 1993-95) which then became N.E.W. ("New England Works", circa 1995-2001) which focused on underground Techno, hosting many epic warehouse parties, and became a base for a diverse group of people from various backgrounds, many of which I had grown close to in those years. This collectively represented what I felt was my "home base" at the time, fulfilling my strict preferences within electronic music, and of course the quality of the people. We had a good link with the Sonic Groove crew down in NYC between 1993 and 2000, shared some great events, and I learned a lot about music, DJing & composing. I'll never forget that early Manchester, NH scene, or all of the people involved that helped to establish it each in their own way, nor will I forget all of the amazing people in New York City who welcomed us, shared with us some unbelievable sounds, hosted some of the most memorable events, and hosted such a dizzying array of talented artists from around the globe. 

I'm still plugged into Techno today, of course, but established groups are hard to come by in Boston, and many from NYC have moved on to Europe where they can make a living and thrive in it's long-established Techno scenes. 

Thankfully one of the most active and Techno focused groups has been doing great things in the Boston area over the last six or seven years or so (INFRA Boston), and doing more than I can recall being done in the last 30 years for sure. It is good to know that after so many decades, Techno is still breaking new ground in places like Boston.
