Emily Blue’s debut record “Another Angry Woman” was dedicated to victims of sexual abuse and gendered violence. It was her personal way to say “fuck this, and fuck the patriarchy.” After coming from a background of vulnerable, honest songwriting (especially after years in the indie rock world of Tara Terra), Blue wanted to tell a personal story while empowering others to do the same.

Now, fast forward to 2018, and Blue seems to be a different person. She’s colorful, costume-wearing, she’s dance-pop neon. Her music, once a singer-songwriter with a guitar and a heavy burden, is gritty and in-your-face. *69 (with singles “Cellophane” and its predecessors “Blackberries // Rico Acid”) proves to be a record that refuses to be contained. *69 is the survivor in all of us, the person that comes out on top, and most importantly it depicts empowerment through submitting to your every desire.

Emily Blue dominates stages in the city and around the US with electric enthusiasm and confidence. Her new music, with echoes of St. Vincent, FKA Twigs, and Sylvan Esso is both spastic and sensual, showcasing the dynamic capabilities of producer Max Perenchio (of The Gold Web). Look out for colorful visuals and tour dates starting in August.
