Here comes the lead single from Tim Paris’ forthcoming full-length album on the My Favorite Robot label.  That album, Dancers, is due out on October 28th and features plenty of collaborations, and this single itself in fact features the talents of mysterious but frequent Paris collaborator Sex Judas as well as British Composer Rupert Cross.  This package includes the original single as well as remixes by Siopis and DC Salas. 

‘Minireich’ itself is a bit of raw machine disco with heavily filtered vox seeping into a darkened sky of frazzled chords, dazzling synths and plenty of late night mischief.  It’s dynamic and deep, features plenty of exquisite production touches and is just the sort of mutant genre fusion Tim Paris is so good at, having worked with the likes of Ivan Smagghe as It’s A Fine Line and after remixing those including Tiga and DeadEcho. 

The first remix comes from Siopis, an artist formerly known as Silversurfer on Crosstown Rebels. The German producer of dark and raw mystery has also worked for the likes of Get Physical and here focuses on kinked rhythms, occult sound design and sonic paranoia. His remix is squelchy and steely with radiant sci-fi synths and a prowling bassline tying it all together. 

Finally it’s Belgium’s hottest talent DC Salas who turns in another remix having already released on labels like Tenth Circle and BPitch with his own unique take on tech house. The young producer’s version is the most dancefloor aligned given its nimble bass notes and inviting kick-clap combos. The original’s slurred vocal remains in place but all around the percussion is more upwardly mobile. 

This single acts as a fine taster of the fantastic Dancers album that is to come later in the year and proves Tim Paris to be an exceptional electronic craftsman.

Tim Paris – Minireich feat. Rupert Cross & Sex Judas (DC Salas Remix)

The My Favorite Robot label is happy to announce the release of their next full-length album from an artist that has been close to the label for some time. 

The inimitable Tim Paris has had his own unique voice in the underground scene of his hometown in Paris for years, with highly influential labels like Items&Things, Kompakt, Pets Recordings and many others coming calling for his work. Also part of It's A Fine Line with Ivan Smagghe and boss of the Marketing Music label, Paris has proved himself an adept producer of dancefloor tracks in the past (and a highly sought after remixer, reworking artists including Silicone Soul, Tiga, and The xx) but for his hotly anticipated debut LP, he takes it to the next level and crafts a over album full of songs. Dancers features plenty of exciting collaborations with artists from an array of musical backgrounds, including Georg Levin, half of Wahoo with Dixon and a BBE and Sonar Kollektiv associate, Parallel Dance Ensemble's vocalist Coco Solid, Sex Judas – a mysterious but frequent collaborator with Tim, and Ben Shemie from fast rising Canadian band The Suuns as well as Forrest, someone very much about to breakthrough in his own right. Together they have crafted a stand out album that joins the dots between indie dance, post punk, electro and house music.

Captivating opener ‘Golden ratio’ sets the tone for the album with plenty of raw guitar licks and live sounding drums. Levin’s vocals help the track to soar out of its rugged indie framework before ‘Rain’ ups the ante once more with some tobacco stained New Wave influences, dubby pads and and kinetic drum work. It’s an enthralling start to proceedings that takes you many different places and does so in style. The excellent ‘Outback, Stones and Vinyl’ then sets a more downtempo mood helping to ensure there is a coherent narrative throughout. Plenty of analogue machines and real instruments help colour in the slowed track and the result is a slow and mutant indie licked Italo track with a very real hedonistic spirit. Elsewhere tracks like ‘Minreich’ sound like modern Kraut reworks, whilst ‘Extreme Nails’ is a more peak time and progressive number that twists and turns for its duration… wherever you look there are musical gems hidden away, all helping to make this record arresting and rewarding experience. As a listening experience this album is excellent – far more than just a collection of tracks it has suitable peaks and troughs along the way to ensure you really feel like you are going somewhere. Moreover, its not just tempos that change, but style sand genres too, from the indie leaning stuff to the more overtly electronic fair, Dancers is an album that very much sticks to Paris’ own unique and hybridised agenda, excelling as a result.

Tim Paris - Backseat Reflexion (Feat. Forrest)

Here comes a first release on My Favorite Robot from hotly tipped Italian duo Hunter Game, complete with remixes from acclaimed producer Petar Dundov and German Christian Prommer.
Hunter Game have had a great spirt of first releases in the last year or so, with a debut EP on Solomon’s Diynamic and two follow-ups on none other than Sasha’s label, Last Night on Earth. Their sound is a spacious, synth-rich one that speaks to the head as much as heel.
The first cut here, ‘Distant Storms’, is a journey cut with grand intentions. A bed of drums sets the engaging pace but what goes on above is what stands this track out – an open sky of rippling synth patterns extends in all directions, some gurgle down low, some cut through the sky like a diamond tipped laser, but the cumulative effect is one of high drama.

Munich’s Christian Prommer – Music Autonomica boss and Studio !K7 producer – tackles the remix with a much deeper perspective, Here the groove is low slung and coated in warm dub vibes. Rather than flying you off into the cosmos it wallows beautifully in minor synth chords and an ever more hypnotic groove.
Hunter Game then offer “Keep the Other Things Out’ which again showcases their great synth skills – which are also perfectly befitting the My Favorite Robot label – and an aptitude for making music that is cinematic and expansive as well as dancefloor suited and physical.
Croatia’s Petar Dundov is a famous analogue gear nut and is often found on Belgium’s celebrated Man Make Music label. Here he gets down and dirty with his machines again, teasing out plenty of gurgling lines and tons of tension from his pads. It’s an engaging and dramatic journey, for sure.

Finally, ‘This Moment’ sees Hunter Game pair down their beats to raw and mechanical things before allowing their machines to run riot once more. There is plenty of pain and industrialism in the tones on offer and they all add up to yet another fine EP or genuinely artistry from this fast rising duo. As ever, My Favorite Robot has its fingers firmly on the pulse of now.

Following on from the first remix package featuring Justin Robertson’s Deadstock 33s, Space Ranger and Fairmont, My Favorite Robot Records serve up a second selection of remixes of Sid Le Rock’s fantastic fifth album, ‘Busted With a Bag of Bliss’. This time out it’s sometime Cocoon man Tim Green, label regular James Teej, Metope, Aaron Santos and Seexah who get the nod. Seexah is in fact the winner of a recent remix context the label held on Beatport, but more than holds his own against the more established artists here. First though it is Tim Green, who recently started his own label Disc Over Music, who remixes ‘Nomads’. In the process he draws out the track into a wavy, spine tingling affair with a nicely kinked bassline and elegant chords that wash out to an infinite horizon. James Teej’s Super Eight Remix of ‘Bag of Bliss’ is a bleepy affair that’s rich in melody and has seriously deep chords and emotions bottled within its mid tempo groove. A killer breakdown and slinky beats lend it an epic prog feel that has you drawn right in to the heart of things. Next up we have the Seexah’s remix, which sees the competition winner tackle the same track, layering in oodles of trilling, heart tugging melodies that float above wavy beats. The penultimate version comes from sometime James Teej collaborator Aaron Santos, who remixes ‘Here We Are’ into a sensitive end of the night anthem with cute and ditty piano chords, breathy vocal ad libs and a true sense of genuinely artistic musical beauty. Last but not least, Metope gets down and dirty with his gurgling, bassline driven rework of ‘Exhale’. It’s a discordant, unsettling affair with plenty of mysterious and mischievous late night spirits floating about next to the killer bass stabs, and rounds out another on point remix package from My Favorite Robot.

Sid Le Rock, 'Nomads' (Tim Green Remix)



Trend setting Canadian label My Favorite Robot is all ready to offer up some scorching
summer sounds in the form of their tidy three track sampler EP. It features three hot artists
and a trio of cuts that fit in perfectly with their singular MO.

Swiss outfit Animal Trainer, of labels like Hive Audio and Still Vor Talent and others, go
first. Their excellent ‘Aeron’ track is their first ever on this label and is a walloping great
house cut with huge rubber kicks, spin tingling melodies and the sort of oversized bassline
that will thoroughly destroy dance floors this summer. It is a patient, cosmic tinged track
with a subtle sense of tension and release that really sweeps you up.

Next up is Italian producer and DJ, Slok, who has been churning out beats for almost
twenty years. In that time he has amassed credits on plenty of top labels including One
Records, Circle Music and of course MFRR and has previously enlisted the MFR
production outfit to provide vocals on his music. Here we find him in a doleful deep house
mood with sombre chords laid over slick beats on ‘Dreamachine’. It is a spaced out and
hypnotic track that will allow for lots of introspective moments.

Finally, Valencia talent Darlyn Vlys is a prolific producer who has been active for five years
but has already released more than ten EPs on all sorts of labels like Avotre, Terminal M
and Suara. His ‘Butterfly’ track is eerie and haunted, with wide open spaces sucking you
in. Thin pads, starry melodies and groaning bass all make for epic listening as you are
trapped in the middle of it all and this one is perfect for dead of the night moments of pure
emotion.

This summer sampler offers up a hat trick of class club hits that remind us just why My
Favourite Robot is one of the most talked about labels of the day.

Animal Trainer - Aeron

Tim Green, as well as being a Cocoon regular, is boss of his own Disc Over Music label and has long been an assured producer of rugged grooves and club slaying synth lines. This summer he has had another busy one playing guest DJ slots all over the world and has seen support for his recent remixes of Kidnap Kid and MANDY. Now winter is coming, we are treated to more original magic from his studio.

Excellent opener ‘Empire’ is a tripped out tech growler with firmly rooted drums forming the bed off which mind bending synths slither about in lithe fashion. It makes for a mechanical groove but with those fluid synths is truly compelling and absorbing. Subtle details such as whirring space ship sounds, ditty bass stabs and colourful pad explosions all help add charm to the track, which is sure to standout on any floor.

‘Overstance’ is a more spiritual track that is doused in glowing angelic pads as well crafted synth lines rise up the sale and take you with them. The rubbery drums bubble and boil below and voices scurrying about in paranoid fashion to add to the overall impact.

It is another cultured club cut that rounds out a tight two track EP and a pitch perfect summer for the ever reliable Green.

Tim Green - Overstance

After serving up an excellent album on the label, Jori Hulkkonen’s ‘Oh But I Am’ now gets remixed by a crack team of expert beatmakers as selected by the on point My Favorite Robot label bosses.

Jori’s original album was full of moving melodies and succulent synth layers and was perfect to be picked apart and reimagined for different dance floors. First to do so are Musumeci & Lehar who tackle ‘Waiting Is All We Have.’ The pair has worked together before on cuts for labels like Connoisseur and have a weekly show on Ibiza Global Radio. Their brain soothing track is a patient, magically melodic one with low swaying bass, tooting arps and dreamy vocals that melt right into the background in expert fashion.

French pair Villanova tackle ‘Four Step Program’ with typical élan, as you would expect of the Cocoon, Loveyeah and MFRR affiliated producers. In their hands it is a synthetic bit of delicate minimal techno with a feathery light percussive scattering. Echoing vocals add soul to the deep space drones and this one is sure to send people wild in the dead of night in some tiny back room. Mexicans Balcazar & Sordo (hotly tipped by Maceo Plex, who also releases their music) then link to remix ‘Quick to Judge, Slow to Execute’ into a gorgeously
fat deep house roller with hypnotic synths meandering over the perfectly drum line. Holding you in suspense throughout, it is another cultured late night club cut that is full of rich sound
design and original ideas.

Camea, the long time minimal techno goddess and label boss at Clink who also releases on BPitch Control, gets dark and abstract on her circling and spookily desolate remix of ‘It’s Taken Too Long’. A final and excellent hurrah is from UK act and Eskimo Twins member Heretic, who has been on an atmospheric acid tip when working solo in the last few years.
His interpretation of ‘Songs of the Eastern World’ is a laid back jaunt through the galaxies with cosmic patterns and twinkling melodies all making for an ambient opening before a cold
boom-bap and slow machine gun bassline add real drive.

This is a fantastic package that covers many different bases with real class from all concerned.

Jori Hulkkonen - Waiting Is All We Have (Musumeci & Lehar Remix)

Cultured Canadian label My Favorite Robot has got time for just one more release this year, but it is a special one indeed. Behind it is Slow Porn, a talented French duo made up of La Dame Noir’s artistic director Phred Noir and 
producer (as well as Meant Records label boss) Remain. Both of these musical minds have unquestionably great inspirations that look to the worlds of disco, electro, rock, industrial, techno, and beyond, for their influences. They have been doing so since 2009 and pride themselves on libidinous, dirty grooves, as this EP proves. Things kick off with ‘Silver and Lust’, a wonderfully slo motion trip through deep and colourful disco. Lazy synths are stretched between rubbery drums as melodic fireworks rain down from above and steamy vocals bring a great sense of intimacy. For their next trick, the skilful studio partners remix Yosoy’s ‘Soldier’ to perfection. In doing so they make it into a low slung, sleazy and dark chugger with Depeche Mode style vocals and a broody sense of atmosphere that really sucks you in. The penultimate track sees Slow Porn serve up a second compelling original, ‘Third Thrill’, which is mechanical and kosmiche, suspensory and expansive. It is filled with analogue lines and pixel thin melodies that really get your senses tingling. The last cut is another remix, this time of Color War’s ‘Shapeshifting’, it’s an ethereal affair with frazzled synth spaceships circling post-punk drums. Full of wide open spaces that are filled with effortlessly cool female vocals, it’s a menacing and melancholic closer. This is a superb EP that showcases the supreme aural aesthetics of Slow Porn to great effect


Yosoy - Soldier (Slow Porn Version)

My Favorite Robot Records is proud to welcome a new talent to the ranks for a first solo
EP entitled ‘End of a Chapter’. That man is German producer H.O.S.H. and he comes
up with a trio of tantalising tech tracks that add another dimension to the label’s sound
whilst staying true to its passion for sublime synths and unusual grooves.
H.O.S.H. is Hamburg’s Holger Behn, an artist who has spent much of his career
releasing EPs and LPs on Diynamic, the label he helped make famous alongside close
friend Stimming and boss man Solomun. His fresh sound, which tangles between
techno and house, has taken him all over the world, to DJ residencies at various places
in Ibiza and festivals big and small on just about every continent.
Up first here is the colourful and cosmic main room bomb that is ‘Meloman.’ With
twinkling keys and sweeping pads it is a truly expansive affair that has infectious drums
at its heart.
The excellent ‘Aire’ has big drums and snaking shakers, scraping perc sounds and
majestic, wildly repetitive melodies exploding throughout. It is celebratory and euphoric,
expertly programmed and finished with real style and will mark the high point of any set.
Last but not least is ‘Libre,’ which is eight and a half minutes of wonky beats and
pixelated synths, rippling chords and brightly coloured neon melodies that fire every
synapse in your body. It is another adventurous and explosive track that is full of fun
and craziness right in time for the upcoming festival season.
This is a top trio of tracks that is as colourful and stuffed with musicality as you could
imagine.

H.O.S.H. - Meloman

Over the course of 150 releases, Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records has established itself as one of electronic music’s key imprints. Their latest is another special offering of well sculpted club sounds that come from the talented Fairmont.

Jake Fairley aka Fairmont is an electronic music producer, live performer and DJ from Toronto, Canada, who has put out three albums, the last of which came on this label in 2012. His artful EPs have come on labels like Border Community, Days of Being Wild and his own Beachcoma imprint as well of course on his home from home, My Favorite Robot Records. Out of the studio Fairley has long held a reputation as an impressive live performer and is currently in the process of putting together a new show. This brand new show will feature hardware he has built himself from studio components, encased in perspex and lit up like the setting sun; expect something special, part live show, part art installation!

This latest release opens with the compelling ‘Carthage’ a track built around lush layers of supple and reflective synths. Big bass broods below and the effect is trance inducing and serene. At eight minute long this epic piece of work never outstays its welcome and instead just lulls you deeper under its electronic spell.

Next up, ‘Loose Teeth’ is another elongated track that progressively builds and builds in exquisite fashion with Sasha-esque synths bubbling away. It’s widescreen and intergalactic and full of class. Last of all, this transcendental synth trip concludes with the gorgeous ‘With Closed Eyes.’ Landing almost fully formed, it is slick and sleek electronic music with long tailed pads, carefully decaying synth lines and a kinetic sense of energy with whispered vocals up top.

Spine tingling and sure to take any DJ set to the next level, this is a sublime trio of tracks from Fairmont and MFR and sets the stage perfectly for the live show to come.

MFR Crossing Wires podcast 001- TIM GREEN

My Favorite Robot is proud to welcome the return of DJ and production duo Slow Porn with a stunning new compilation album. After releasing a critically acclaimed EP on the Canadian label back in December 2015, Slow Porn now come back with a fantastically curated 18 track compilation that proves the richness of their sound goes way beyond their studio and the dancefloor.

Made up of Meant Records label boss Remain, and fellow Frenchman and La dame Noir label head honcho, Phred Noir, the duo have shared many DJ booths over the years leading to this collaborative project. This new compilation, which also includes Slow Porn sounds, is an expert experiment that finds them delivering "a filthy groove and slow-paced mood music for confidential and undisclosed dancefloors."

Taking in a delicious and diverse selection of artists such as label regular Fairmont, via machine music maverick Richard Norris and numerous other luminaries such as Rodion, Rework and Vosper, this is a carefully constructed mix where a libidinous and spaced-out mood is king.

Things start exquisitely with the spacious and lush 'Lost In Love' by Amevicious before touching on broken disco with French spoken words, percolating kosmische, languorous and slow motion deep house and synth-tactic steppers that gently nudge up the BPM. Mixing beautiful drones with heavenly chords, leggy drums with pixelated pads, Slow Porn plot a journey through space that is wide open and inviting, laid back but vitally engaging.

Their own cut 'Silver and Lust' is rugged yet colourful, with aloof female whisperings and modulated synths really getting under your skin. From there trippy synths continue to squelch and fat bottomed drums hold a constant groove before things warp up perfectly on the malfunctioning disco sounds of Kieran Holden.

The aural pleasure seekers, that are Slow Porn, truly come correct with this wide ranging and absorbing selection.

MFR Crossing Wires Podcast 009 - Chloe

It’s been two years since Stefan Z last released on this label, but the three tracks he serves up prove the wait has been more than worth it.

The Berlin based Canadian is the boss of the Rhombus label and is a top electronic production talent. He makes his sounds stand out with slick vocals or moving melodic elements, most likely because of his formally trained piano and trumpet playing skills. He’s had support from the likes of Sasha, Solomun and Adriatique, and his label parties in Vancouver were key in developing the city’s underground scene.

The super title track goes first and is a freaky number with spacecraft circling the groove, building tension in the melodic riffs and futurism in the drums. It’s a dramatic track with heavy, lumpy kicks and one to jolt the floor into action.

‘Borni’ is another long and involving tune, this time with more mystery and suspense in the way it builds. The drums get you marching as synths and ghoulish motifs pan about to creepy effect. It’s a real set building track that keeps you on edge.

Lastly, ‘Cipe’ is the toughest of the lot, with stiff hits and withering cosmic chords speaking of an intergalactic war. Underpinned by warm bass, it’s a widescreen cinematic affair with real beauty in the pads that eventually take over the show.

All three tracks here are mini epics that really take you on a trip.

Stefan Z - Borni

Established Finnish artist Jori Hulkkonen is back on home label My Favorite Robot with ‘Don't Believe In Happiness’, another fantastic full length.

Hulkkonen’s last album—of nine so far—came in 2015, with one before that coming in 2012, both on this label. Each one shows him to be a real synth master who can craft devastatingly emotional tracks that are infused with elements of dub, pop, nu-wave and techno. Following the release of the title track as lead single, the full album reveals itself to be another moody but beautiful affair that has evolved stylistically once more.

The icy and churchy chords of ‘Tintån Terdel’ kicks things off, with mid-tempo drums down low making for a brightly lit tune full of feeling. After the single comes ‘We Will Tear Love Apart Again’, a suspense-filled track with no drums but whispered vocals that drift above gentle synth turbulence. More cosmic tinged grooves come from ‘Lowlife Crises,’ while ‘Reach Out to China’ is a celestial affair with glowing chords and ambient smoothness. ’I Think About Your Car When I Drive Mine’ is an inventive track with echoing ‘80s chords and pained vocals above percolating clicks and pops.

The second half of the album journeys through pop leaning tracks with heavenly chords and well sequenced synths; abstract affairs where modulated sounds bring computers to life and then more dance floor orientated tracks like ‘Moon Is Real’ which surges along on a silky, celestial techno groove. ‘Just A Phase I’m Going Through’ is an edgy and energising retro-future pop cut, and the whole absorbing and artistic album comes to an end with the blissful layers of chords, pads and zoned out vocals on ‘New Ideologies.’

This magical album is another subtle development of Hulkkonen’s style that goes way beyond the dance floor and makes for a truly rewarding listen.

Andrew Grant & Lomez are no strangers to My Favorite Robot Records, having provided one of the highlights of last years ‘Sixth Stimulus Package’ in the shape of the excellent ‘Oshno’. Now they are back with a new EP that is set to cement their position as part of the MFRR stable.

Individually the pair have achieved much in dance music circles; Andrew is a resident for superclub Circoloco, has released on labels such Plastic City, Connect Four & Barraca and set up his own EDEC & Blau Motif imprints, Baltimore resident Lomez has toured the world as a DJ, recorded for MFRR & Little Helper and has music lined up on the super hot Hypercolour label amongst others.

The ‘Has To Be Love EP’ is a superb package featuring three brand new tracks from the duo as well as a remix from rising Crosstown Rebels star Amirali. The record opens with the entrancing strains of ‘Distant Thunder’, a wonderfully hypnotic deep and techy house affair that fuses subtle melodies with fluttering bass and rolling drums to create a record with real feeling. Second of the three originals comes in the shape of title track ‘Has to be Love’, journeying into eighties tinged electro territory with its Human League-esque drums and soaring synths playing host to the heavily effected vocals, sublime stuff. Next we have ‘Be Free’ which sees the pair drop the tempo and deliver a laid back and soulful gem.

To round off the package My Favorite Robot have handed remix duties to current Crosstown Rebels hot property Amirali who takes time out from the promotion of his debut album to deliver a wonderful reinterpretation of ‘Has to be Love’. The drums are stripped back, the parts twisted up and the record is reimagined as a sonic soundscape existing on the outer reaches of our known electronic universe, beautiful stuff.

Andrew Grant & Lomez have delivered another sterling record and have added a record to the My Favorite Robot Record catalogue that is sure to stand the test of time, enjoy.

Canada’s My Favorite Robot Records looks to a brand new split artist EP featuring Tiger Stripes feat. Pete Fij and the My Favorite Robot boys with Silky and some stellar vocal performances...

Toronto based My Favorite Robot Records has had a standout 2012 with album projects from Jori Hulkkonen and Fairmont, a string of highly acclaimed singles and people flocking to the imprint in their droves. Part of the labels appeal has been it’s willingness to throw together different artist, bringing real depth and diversity, whether it be on the much lauded ‘Stimulus package’ series or the highly successful split artist EPs.
Now label label bosses My Favorite Robot step up to share the stage with the ever-excellent Tiger Stripes for the latest multi artist release.

The single kicks off with Tiger Stripes feat Pete Fij. Mikael Nordgren AKA Tiger Stripes hails from Stockholm, Sweden and is no stranger to the MFRR label having released his own ‘Crossroads EP’ on the imprint earlier in the year. Here he teams up with vocalist Pete Fij from Creation Records band Adorable to record the superb ‘Out of Phase’, an electronic odyssey that draws on thread of atmospheric deep house to provide the bed for Fij’s ethereal and emotive vocals, quality stuff.

The flipside sees the My Favorite Robot trio of James Teej, Jared Simms and Voytek Korab join forces with London based Silky for a dark tinged rework of the 1984 Tear for Fears classic ‘Shout’. The record is the product of a collaborative recording session held in London when the MFR teams were here on tour and it is superb fusion of a great pop record with some seriously twisted production. Dramatic synth lines, heavy delays and swirling FX create the soundbed for Voytek to deliver an impressive take on Roland Orzabal’s vocal parts and the end result is a quirky and genuinely unique version of a much loved classic.

My Favorite Robot Records has been a strong force in underground electronic music since 2008.

The Toronto based label is an offshoot of the act “My Favorite Robot” formed earlier in 2002 by Jared Simms and Voytek Korab.

The label has managed to consistently release quality music by some of the electronic dance world’s most renown producers such as H.O.S.H, Kenny Glassgow, Jori Hulkkonen, Eric Volta, Sasse, Fairmont, Tiger Stripes, Tim paris, Chymera, Sid Le Rock, Tim Green, Clarian, and My Favorite Robot themselves just to name but a few and there is no slowing down for them!
