There were concerns about a possible lack of German voices in this collection but acid legend Carlos Souffront came to our rescue and his exclusive “Europe from Detroit” mix dispels them in the most unexpected, poignant and concise way possible. Kraftwerk’s 1977 “Trans-Europe-Express” imagined the continent as a haven of post-historical nostalgia. We asked Carlos to reimagine Europe as a province of Detroit in order to invert the usual perspective.
Often, the Motor City is an object of European musical desire, filled to the brim with projections even, and especially if there is post-industrial desolation to be admired. Let’s try it the other way around. The mix expertly strides between delicacy and a sense of impending dread that culminates in a brief sequence where German history unmistakably rears its ugly head. But there is life beyond that, there has to be. This is not a mind trip, this is a body journey.

These things have removed all sense of reverence and respect for the true visionary Masters. People who've dedicated multiple decades of "Applied Practice" to become one of the best who shall ever do it, as the saying goes...
And without support, appreciation, and or recognition of the difference(s) between the rare and the commonplace, the culture will always suffer. 
By its own hand. 
So don't be bogus. Let the "track find you" if it was meant to be. 
It has worked for me. And I AM the dude who for well over a decade has been train-spotted to death due to my impeccable selections. 
All of that to say.... I didn't achieve the level of skill, etc i have by trainspotting other Disk Jocks, groping for cheat codes, or seeking to find that proverbial "silver bullet." 
I did it the hard way. 
By living the culture, digging everywhere for decades, and by NOT playing the hot record some other DJ played. 
But... that's just how I adhere to the true-school honor-code of the discipline. Y.M.M.V.

A real pleasure to host one of my favourite djs in the Animix series, the ever-charming and immensely talented @playvlada, with her distinctly recognisable signature sound.

With a style deep, but somehow oozing with equal parts crunch and groove, Vlada is a master of blending her wide and eclectic old-school record collection into undulating journeys of bassy, hypnotic grooves, telling of her longstanding passion to the craft. 

The Russian born, but Berlin based mainstay balances touring with running mix series/party collective speLL in Berlin & beyond, with @vaahzer. One of my favourite parties in town :)

This week, I focused on Ableton Live 12‘s Filter Delay. While it may seem that not much has changed compared to last week, the Filter Delay offers a wide range of possibilities for shaping the sound‘s spatial quality. I must admit that I‘d like to spend a bit more time on this track, as I‘m not entirely satisfied with it yet. However, time is tight, and with only a week at my disposal, I need to act quickly. This week‘s scale is C Lydian Dominant.
