Letting his superb selections and finely honed skills behind the decks do the talking for him, Unai Trotti emerged as one of our favourite DJs and curators in recent years. With the recent launch of two new Cartulis sub-labels, we caught up with Trotti to get the lowdown on his recent projects, playing in front of a crowd again and things to come, and he’s been so kind as to share with us, the recording of a set he played at Mutabor in Moscow, featuring 3.5 hours of brilliant transitions, pulsating tech groovers, proggy house and other ‘90s oriented goodness.

Shakolin is a long-time resident DJ of Closer club and the founder of Closer Record Store (defunct since 2023 due to his relocation from Kyiv to Berlin). With over 15 years of playing records and running the record store so loved by the most discerning diggers, it’s no surprise that his knowledge of electronic music will match one of a librarian. That perfectly shows in Shakolin’s DJ sets abounding in old and new sounds - functional yet never straight-up club music, his records are a journey that’s deep and mystical, groovy and freakish. With exceptional easiness, he weaves them into powerful, punchy, and infectious dance stories.
