Long time resident at the infamous Salon des Amateurs in Düsseldorf and the man behind Offen Music, Ivkovic is someone with a particularly unique talent for selecting records and weaving them into a larger – and often unusually compelling – narrative. Ahead of joining us for his 4th Origins show this December to close out the 10 Year series, Vlad is up next for Tapes #81.

As one of the finest selectors of hidden musical gems, he has kept his focus on music, especially the dark and often psychedelic sounds that lurk in its unexplored corners. Whether he’s broadcasting on the radio or piloting the dancefloor, Ivkovic is someone who applies a curatorial mindset and a deep love of music to all of his creative exploits. Yes, he’s a DJ, but he’s so much more than that; he’s a storyteller, a connoisseur and, most importantly, an artist.

Such a pleasure to host ANNX on this month’s show. This guest mix has has been a long time coming, after playing for her at WHOMP back in June 2022 and having her on our very first tentacular party line-up here in Paris. 

ANNX is a wonderful & vibrant DJ but also a lovely human being. She is the mother of WHOMP - a non-profit charity party in London that she co-runs with another absolute boss Lora Mipsum. 

She also runs a new party series with a more psychedelic twist with Amphybian, called MAGICK. If you’re ever in London make sure to check out both as they rock, both in terms of vibes, crowd and line-ups.  

Anna sent over a few words words with her mix : « Whilst prepping for the show I wanted to hone in on the slower more mysterious and deeper side of my music taste. Expect an hour of minimal and deep techno with some organic percussions, bubbles and twangs telling a story with increasing energy and intrigue. Perfect listening for the winter months.

Tentacular - Hewan Aman invite Annx (31.01.23)

https://soundcloud.com/rdopwolkenscheidt is a niche electronic music project from Copenhagen, founded in the windy Danish winter of early 2015. The music is inspired by cinematic and storytelling-centred approaches to songwriting and draws on a variety of genres, including downtempo, psychedelic rock, ambient electronica and synthwave. Thematically, the songs deal with tropes from literature and film, such as space exploration, dream theft, time travel and psychedelic drug use. The full-length debut The Unexpected Death of a Time-Traveling Friend was released in April 2017, followed by the post-apocalyptic EP Music for an Empty Metropolis and the cyberpunk-themed LP Quantum Computer Deep Dream in 2019.

"What was a crucial sonic experience in your life?"
In my early teenage years I took classes in contemporary music composition. As a part of that class, we went to the rehearsal of a Frank Zappa piece for symphonic orchestra, including an 8-person rhythmic section, where we could sit in the middle of the orchestra during the entire rehearsal. This was an extremely fascinating and influential sonic experience.
