https://soundcloud.com/macrogramma is the solo project of the sound designer & composer Matteo Mariano. He began his career in musical composition and experimentation by creating soundtracks for film/videos and for art exhibitions. 
In 2019, with the intention of cataloging and giving an editorial form to the material created during over 20 years of activity, he published three collections of pieces composed in different periods (Macrogramma Volume 1, Volume 2 and Volume 3). This operation of revision and rethinking of past materials is the starting point to complete several old compositions in the works for a long time and begin to create new original music unrelated to any audio/video projects. 

"What was a crucial sound experience in your life?"
"I don't know if there was actually a crucial sound experience in my life. I came to everything in stages: what I am now is the result of a chain reaction of many microfactors that have added up over the years. However, with the experience of making music for videos, I realized that music and noise are not separate things, there is no border between the two: even background noise can be music and even music alone, without the help of images or texts, can tell a story."

Sound material:
The material in this mix is primarily drawn from works released over the past two years. There are tracks that have been composed starting from score and then going through sound reworking, such as "Perché Dormiamo", or others that are born as improvisations which then achieve a complete form in post production.
Macrogramma's instrumentation is a quite typical instrumentation for electronic music: synths, piano, sampled instruments, tape machines, electric guitar and many guitar pedals also used as a pure sound source.
This podcast-mix was made by Phoan (https://phoan.bandcamp.com), a musician with whom Macrogramma currently often collaborates, and who also contributed to give the mix, with his attentive ear, a fresh and objective overview of the selection.

Constructions returns for the 60th instalment with an hour-long live sound performance from Japan's Muzan Editions label boss, Endurance.

"In the past few years, I have been lucky enough to open for a lot of techno parties in Japan, and this has had a big impact on my sound as a performer. My live sets used to lean more towards the prettier, new-age side of ambient, but as that doesn't particularly suit dark clubs in Osaka and Tokyo, I have tried to push my sound towards the more minimal and intense regions of ambient.

This is a set from a show I played in Osaka with Peter van Hoesen in November. I remember being terribly nervous while setting up my modular, as PvH was standing right behind me doing a soundcheck (I'm a big fan)! Nevertheless, I think the set went well, setting the tone for the party and the music to come. When I looked up towards the end, the dance floor was nearly full, and people were swaying back and forth with their eyes shut. As someone doing ambient, there's no clearer sign that you're doing something right than that."

Endurance is the ambient project of Osaka-based Joshua Stefane. Using modular synthesizers, field recordings, and cassette tapes, Endurance’s sound has become increasingly minimal and tonally-focused over the years, employing a minimum of elements to create a maximum of expressiveness. In addition to releasing from labels such as Constellation Tatsu and Mystery Circles, Endurance also curates the Japan-based tape label Muzan Editions.

He is part of the organizing team for Moment, a techno festival in Nara. As a live performer, he has appeared at numerous high-profile events such as Star Festival, Moment, and Rural, with an increasing emphasis on bringing deep ambient soundscapes to techno music parties.
